@@richardoverton57 I indeed had to use old gaskets. Although that was the whole reason for digging as deep as I did was only because of head gasket failure. I went ahead and replaced both head an base gasket an honed the cylinders the rings were in spec. I also went ahead and replaced reground the valves an had it surfaced. Got all together just for the ignition coils to give me troubles saved up bought new ones an still ran funky due to charging system being wired wrong figured that out an had her goin strong sold it for 2k bought it for 700 prolly won’t get another one but it was a damn good bike.
Ive seen a few guys do it that way. I should have been more clear in the way of explaining that this is a video of me doing my bike and not a tutorial of the most right way to do it.
Wow I can't fathom doing all that work & not having a modern valve job done... That would've been a easy FREE 15-20hp. And saved you 40 hours of cleaning LoL
@@jasonhudson5861 We use SERDI Machines now. Not stones set at 2 or 3 angles. They have a rounded radius cut. Not to mention when doing the valve job these various radius cutters clean up the bowl area. That in itself is a HUGE improvement over the factory valve job...
Replacing the head gasket should I go ahead and replace the base gasket as well I just don’t have ring compressors an don’t wanna remove the jug

Did you check the play for the valves side to side, ive spent 1h/valve to grind the seat to the valve (had dents in valveseat)
I broke the chain guide support of a suzuki gs 850 from 81 how could I change it without having to open the engine cover
I dont see how you could replace that without getting in there.
Your ring compressor tho!

Actually I read in my clymer manual that if you don't have a proper ring compressor you can use a large clamp like that
