- Shiny Lapras appears very quickly for me as my 2nd team member for my Dream Team Quest. Always really liked this shiny and I got a great nature for it too. I was initially planning to hunt this in Gen III but I much prefer it in 4th Gen after having watched other videos on it. Love the purple on it and it's walking sprite behind me is just incredible.
Next up is Steelix, at Cliff Cave. Hopefully it's another fast but if not, it's a 100% repel trick so it doesn't matter how long it takes. Really keen to get this quest done this year so I can hunt the roaming Latios/Latias in Kanto.

Sonikks hey may I ask why you hunt for shiny Pokémon? I don’t see any competitive value or anything and I’d just like to know if you don’t mind
Sorry, didn't see this until now. I like shinies, the reaction and adrenaline. It's a personal challenge I guess and getting them live is really nice too because people like to see my shinies. I do a lot of what people would think are "difficult" hunts. It's just a challenge I guess. I just really like Pokémon!
Had a question about hunting this one
Im currently going for lapras myself since she only spawns on fridays can i keep resetting my DS time to friday to keep hunting it or can i not turn my DS off. Would turning of the DS reset the number of times ive encountered it?

The only shiny I came across officially was Gyarados and everyone got a chance with that one. I really don't have the patients to sit there a retry over a thousand times. You sir are the most patient man in the world.
He got very lucky here. This is way under odds. You should see his Lugia in Pokémon Silver hunt!
I hunted this about a year ago and I found it in under an hour of hunting it was like 80 soft resets it was the fastest full odds shiny I had ever found

It’d be interesting if in the intro you said the date and then the last shiny you found. So we can know how long the hunt took, just an idea tho
Honestly I've considered this but I decided not to for two reason;
1. I'm very up and down with hunting. I either hunt like mad or barely hunt at all. Say for example, I started a hunt, say the date and then I don't hunt for a month then return to it, the time is basically false. I don't want people to get the idea that it tooks MONTHS to get shinies if you know what I mean.
2. I dislike it when people mention time as a way of measuring progress. Full odds or methods, you will get more shinies the more you put in. The amount of encounters or resets it took is the only thing it matters. When people say "it took me three years to get this shiny" it's a false report. How many encounters did that person do daily? None, and that's why it took so long, because they didn't put the work in.
Hope that makes sense, lol. It's just not a very good way of measuring progress and I wouldn't want to people who watch my videos to be turned off hunting because it took me months to get something.

I get what you mean about the time measurement thing, and I understand that people have misconceptions about the probabilities, math, and how that relates to the time that goes into full odds. I agree that it’d probably confuse people who don’t realize that you might not start a hunt then do it continuously for x time until you get the shiny

Shiny lapras is my favorite shiny. First time shiny hunting for it or anything for that matter in heartgold and luckily got it in 403 tries.

Jan,14,2024 I got mine after resetting for it on 2systems both HG/SS. Been resetting both for 2-3 months or so.

Grazie! I'm not sure I'd say I'm lucky. I did 42k without a shiny recently. I think I'm just hunting a lot and uploading the videos in batches rather than individually (I'm lazy with editing). Good luck on your hunts!

your welcome! so far i’ve only found shiny geodude in the wild unintentionally, but i’m still soft resetting for a shiny hoenn starter in omega ruby ( because in XY it’s way harder because you have to go through a very long cutscene, whilst in the hoenn games you get to battle with your starter right away )

Finally, a shiny hunter who does not overreact) that's really pleasant to see. I'm not sure which lapras I prefer more, but the sparkles in this gen are simply amazing. Do you plan to hunt in pokemon crystal? I would highly recommend you, especially the celebi hunt.

Rlly late for this but im curious as to how you set this hunt up? Is it just saving in the lake, setting your time to friday and start? And won't it disappear if you continue on another day?😅
It won't disappear until you leave the area/catch it once you've saved in front of it.

Definitely worth it! It was my first main series game, still have my old file to this day.
It's filled with lots of shiny targets and has a decent amount of content bc of it's post game.
Yeah as Derpydash said, it's well worth it. It's a bit pricey but content wise it's one of the most packed games there is.
Sonikks I have purchased Heartgold today, and am happy to say that I managed to get a shiny Totodile after 360 soft resets! I’m so glad I purchased this game. I love the fact your pokemon follows you!

Sylvallu ! Dude absolutely. It’s the best Pokémon game ever made. So much to do and it’s a functional remake of the best generation there is. Filled with everything you need and not yet excessive like the train wrecks that followed it. Unfortunately WiFi servers are no longer around but it was the peak of Pokémon

Sadly in HG/SS, you need to transfer them in. Do you have a completed save file in another copy of Gen 4? You can transfer them from Gen 3 via PalPark.

Sonikks yea I used to not use repels and that caused me to find a shiny gurdurr in Pokémon y victory road that was actually my first ever shiny

False swipe don't exist in this game version isn't? It would be easier with it. I'm scared that you might killed the pokemon XD
Super Fang lowers Hp by 50p every time and it won't knock out a Pokémon. I don't fail shinies. Yes False Swipe exists but Smeargle is too weak.
