I just found a 5 second clip that confirmed someone requested DBZ to be shown on the block. As rumored, the episode was sped up and Johnny Bravo provided commentary over the whole thing. I posted it to my UA-cam channel. ua-cam.com/video/zHOUCTou5pc/v-deo.html
WOW! That's amazing!! Thank you for looking and posting- this confirms so much! Plus, it's great to just HAVE more JBVO stuff at all, along with the knowledge that it is out there!
thespicehoarder Someone was flipping through the channels while recording the VHS. They missed the beginning of that clip. then it looks like the VHS was used to record bugs bunny.
I love your lost media videos, most of them happen to be on topics that you rarely hear about in the lost media community and it's far more interesting.
I can confirm that this actually happened as I was an avid watcher of JBVO back in the day. Being that I was a HUGE DBZ fan back in the day, I was about to send in my request for an episode, but saw that the girl beat me to the punch. And yes, the episode did in fact take place during the Namek Saga, like a episode or two before the Ginyu Saga began. Also, Johnny's commentary about it was funny, about what you'd expect from Johnny.
I remember it was a Frieza episode, and I remember Johnny's commentary was to the like of: "Whoa, mama! Look out there, Goku!" "I don't like this Frieza guy." And various encouraging commentary for Goku. I recall the episode being one of the ones where Namek was in the process of blowing up, with Frieza in his final form (all bulked up), and Goku's outfit was battle damaged and ripped from the waist up. I believe Goku was already Super Sayian, as well. Being sped up, the actual episode's audio was chipmunked (I remember laughing at that because it was one of the first times I didn't find Frieza all that scary, as he used to freak me out as a kid), and I really want to say that the part where Goku slaps "some sense" into Frieza was involved, but I can't confirm. Overall, it's one of the most memorable distant memories of mine, and I only wish I had known how to work that darn VCR of mine at the time, and had thought to actually try and preserve some of it. Alas, I was but a 10 year old kid, and could not have conceived such a possiblilty at the time.
Replied separately as well, but I can confirm these details and additionally pinpoint that it's the one where Guru dies: "Freeza Defeated!! A Single Blast Packed with a Totality of Rage" / "Mighty Blast of Rage" Hopefully you'll also recall that Johnny at one point says "Meanwhile, the Nameks are recuperating... hey, where'd that guy go!" Or something close to that.
Professor Haystacks YES, OMG YES. It's coming back in pieces. I remember Johnny having such witty quips for these moments, but it's been so long that the exact words are fuzzy.
Your post reminded me of those sayings, which I had forgotten. I literally only recalled the Namek line after all this time. I feel like he had a comment on Freeza trying to sucker-blast Goku, too. Something like "Hey, that's not cool!" Before, I remember him saying "That show's a half-hour and my show? It's a half-hour too. But what I'm gonna do is play an episode of Dragon Ball Z... in fast forward." Also in the Rowdy Ruff Boys episode he kept answering requests that were for, for instance, the "Power Puff Boys" and would reply "Never heard of them." Or Rowdy Puff Boys "Who are they?" Before finally catching on right before the commercial break and saying "Oh, I get it."
I also faintly remember the DBZ request. I refuse to accept people's claims that it never existed, because I do remember small parts of it. Not specific scenes from DBZ, but the request itself.
With how much technology is integrated into society nowadays, that's a good point. In fact they almost do a little bit of that now with those bumpers showing the irl kids' faces and the Magiswords collect-a-thon thing. If only CN was cooler or more creative I think they could give it another go.
LSuperSonicQ good idea. If only CN today put much more creativity into their TV Blocks and Bumpers like they did back then. It was awesome. And you're right It would be alot easier to remove trolls. This would be pretty awesome to being back
Man, this is freaky. I literally just learned about this show yesterday after randomly discovering it on TVTropes yesterday. Now, I log on to UA-cam not a day later, and there's a video covering it. God bless you, SuperSonic, you SuperPsychic you.
I remember this episode. I was hype to watch more DBZ and irritated that he fast forwarded through the whole thing. The girl didn't call in, she wrote a letter. It stands out in my mind because the letter was like a full page long and included a request something like "please don't play this during August 8-14 because I will be at my Grandma's house", which struck me as bizarre because the date was months away
That episode did happen, but all I remember was Johnny saying something along the the lines of "look at those guys" while a group of Namekians popped up on screen, probably after seeing their race slaughtered by Frieza or Vegeta. Also Gohan and Krillian flying together, if i rewatch DBZ I could tell what episode it was. The rest of the Johnny segment is a blur.
I actually saw the legendary clip personally. It was a little earlier in the run. It WAS an episode about Freeza. THAT I can confirm. I distinctly remember him mentioning Namek.
I remember this, too. I actually remember watching this show every weekend. I guess it wasn't very popular, but I liked it. Even as a kid, though, I assumed it wasn't actually live and never bothered calling in. It's pretty surprising to hear now that it actually was.
You could always just ask Johnny Bravo's voice actor if he knows about the dbz request. It sounds crazy enough that he might have remembered it. Not sure what to do about finding the actual episode if it's real though.
I remember writing into this show as a kid and getting a phone call from the producers. My assumption is that you speak to the producers and they edit in Johnny's voice for the show. I never actually got to see the show as my family was busy that night and it has haunted me my entire life. I requested the Dexter Lab episode "omelette du fromage" - now if THAT segment could be found somewhere and posted, I would be extremely grateful!!!!
JBVO was not an illusion of a live show. It WAS taped live with a delay. There was a team in the office that operated Johnny like a puppet. Johnny's neutral position is in the middle of the desk with his hands in front of him. All motion sprung out from that and then ended at that. Johnny's quick movement and love of posing made him a perfect character for this format.
Hearing of this makes me want to record a new airing of The Fry Cook Games Spongebob episode as that episode, for some reason, doesn't have the title card. Hearing of weird events like this further proves we need a 24 hr watch on all shows now lol
This just makes me wish I'd done more recording as a kid. I watched entirely too much TV, and there are one or two pieces of lost media I remember seeing in their original airings. I kick myself knowing I could have just recorded it on one of the blank tapes we had lying around. :(
I actually watched this episode live and have been trying to find anything discussing it FOR YEARS. I remember the disappointment I had when Johnny announced that he couldn't show the full DBZ episode. Thank you, LSSQ, for the upload!!
Omg it was me I was ten years old I think but I am the one that requested it. I have been looking for a while and couldn't find it! what they did is cartoon network called first stating I had been picked and then they tell you a time to be by the phone to expect his call on another day !
I know but I didn't know how to and my parents might have but don't remember if they recorded it they weren't that tech savy lol What they did is that I sent a letter then the producers called and they talked to my parents stating I was selected and that johnny bravo would call the next day around 3 pm to make sure lines were clear and made sure I answered. He told me the episode he was going to play I think then said once he says hello again were going to record the converstation. I didn't see the episode so I just kinda agreed on what he said since I didn't really remember it. We discussed as if we were watching it but it wasn't live. I think he called on a Saturday so when they played it the next week they just inserted our audio with their video of him and the fastfowarding. Either way I will see if I can get a hold of it too!
Whoa, if that really is you Jennifer...that's absolutely amazing that my video reached far enough online for you to have found it. I know it's probably almost impossible to prove for certain you are who you say you are, but I noticed some evidence of the viewers getting sent letter from JB himself thanking them for being a viewer. Do you remember if you got one of those letters?
Here's an example of one of the letters that would be sent to people whose cartoons were shown on JBVO. 68.media.tumblr.com/ffb106fdf8f85593c5019243f48a77bf/tumblr_nb8kxrDQ0V1r6je28o1_500.jpg
Probably but if i did my mom would have put it away somewhere and since my parents divorced when i was 12 i haven't had any contact with her so who knows. If the full video is ever found they had on there my hometown of sterling colorado. Lucky the small clip had my name but too bad it didn't get to my voice part lol
I definitely remember this episode. It's the only one I watched, as I was on holiday in the US and that's where it was broadcast. I remember that Johnny received a letter, and as soon as reading that the girl liked Dragonball Z, he gave her a call. He told her that they couldn't show the full episode as it was half an hour long. And then they fast forwarded through it. I also remember that another caller from the very same episode asked for the Looney Tunes cartoon, in which Elmer Fudd conducts an orchestra - "A Corny Concerto". Johnny asked him to sing the beat of one of the classical pieces through the phone.
I remember watching this as a kid it kinda freak me out but I did remember my brother taping some of these segments I'll ask him if he still have the tapes
I remember the episode. I was either 10 or 11 and I remember him saying something about how the episode was too long so they had to speed it up. I also remember how weird it was to hear someone request a DBZ episode on an American Cartoon like JBVO when I had always identified Cartoon Network's childlike, slapstick themes extremely different from Toonami's cartoons. I was in 5th or early 6th grade at the time but I definitely remember the episode.
JBVO was amazing man and ahead of it's time, Cartoon Network should try a similar concept nowadays we the wake of social media it would be huge some thing like Late night show but with a cartoon character being the host
Imagine something like this now 50% of callers would be little kids asking for Teen Titans Go, Benten, Mighty Magiswords, or Benten 25% would be kids/adults asking for Steven Universe The last 25% would ask for old cartoons or obscure cartoons Like what ever happened to robot jones
I just remember the episode being one of the last episodes of the Frieza fight on Namek because it cut to a few scenes of Guru on Earth with Johnny saying something like "Whoa, who's this old dude?"
I'm 22 and I can verify the DBZ thing happened, Johnny did do commentary when it was sped up, I was confused as I was a little kid lol. I watched both shows constantly.
I did not record this, but I can provide a detail you did not mention in this show, though perhaps others in other sources have said. In the fast-forwarded episode in question, Johnny at one point comments "Meanwhile, the Nameks are recuperating... hey, where'd that guy go!" because it was the DBZ episode where Guru dies. Some googling shows that that would be episode 105 in the usual airing, or 90 in the original dub numbering. The episode title is thus ""Freeza Defeated!! A Single Blast Packed with a Totality of Rage" / "Mighty Blast of Rage" However, this also shows that Toonami originally aired that episode in 1999, well before JBVO aired, so I'm not sure that that helps at all.
Funny story about this block. I sent in a letter requesting they play an episode of Time Squad wich was brand new at the time. I never saw them air my request. Little did I know that JBVO had been cancelled a couple weeks prior. I only now just realized that thanks to your video. As for the DBZ clip I specifically remember seeing that when it aired. Too bad the whole segment has yet to resurface.
Fascinaing. I grew up in the UK and we had something just like this called 'The Big Bravo' (I think). I actually was fortunate enough to call into the show one Saturday morning when I was about 9 or 10. I have a vivid memory of being kept on the phone with a guy who coached me beforehand and when I finally got to talk to Johnny I had to yell "I love Johnny Bravo!" multiple times at the top of my lungs which woke my parents (it was a morning show). I don't even remember what else I said on the call as I was pretty nervous. They had promised to send me a gift bag afterwards but I don't think I ever got it.
I was just thinking about how much I miss this show the other day! I was wondering if there would be a way to re-watch it, but I guess now I have my answer. :-( I actually watched JBVO the night that DBZ was requested, and I remember getting a kick out of it! Your description of it is pretty much spot on. It played an episode from the Frieza fight, but earlier than you showed; well before Goku went Super Saiyan. The sound of the DBZ episode was turned way down, because it was going too fast for dialogue. What I remember of Johnny's comments were pretty funny, and likely improvised.
I've been looking for those dbz clips for YEARS. I can say that this episode DOES exist as I actually watched this particular epsiode of JBVO when I was a kid and was lucky enough to catch it on air. I couldn't believe it. I loved the cartooncartoons growing up and with DBZ hitting Toonami this was the time I was becoming a huge fan of DBZ so the fact that I got to see an episode of DBZ sped up and commentated on by Johnny Bravo was legendary. It was HILARIOUS and something ill always remember and I haven't found any traces of it since.
indeed was the episode where krillin was killed. there were requests vaguely for dexters lab, courage the cowerdly dog, early tiny toon segments and cartoon cartoon shorts. toonami was indeed airing variants of dbz and yu yu hakusho, speed racer, astro boy and sailer moon but was in the last set just before the cell saga. still remember sitting in front of the old TV in my living room after a long school day eating french fries and tater tots. i miss it. thanks for reminding me of the good old times. oh yea anyone remember maguzi summer block on cartoon network? i believe code lyoko aired on it. and the saturday night partys on cartoon network circa 2000 till 2006? stoped around the time toonami changed to weird robots and aired the censored original naruto. justice league was also a thing.
That Dragon Ball Z request really did happen. I remember watching this as a kid and hearing that girl asking about it. Johnny Bravo then said he couldn't really play it since his show was only half hour long and that's how long Dragon Ball Z was, so he ended up fast forwarding through the episode.
FuchsiaMuffin Holy shit I actually remember this. I was in 7th grade, I remember watching the performance while doing homework. He was kinda adorable back then.
I actually remember the DBZ segment quite vividly and had no idea it was lost media until now! From what I recall: Johnny tells the viewers that he's calling a viewer who loves Dragon Ball Z. The viewer answers the call and Johnny explains to her that while he can't play the show in full due to its runtime length, he will play it at fast speed with his own commentary and proceeds to do just that. I wasn't a DBZ fan (still not one) so I can't tell you anything about the episode itself or the characters featured, but I do remember finding it quite funny, especially considering how format-breaking it was. And I don't even recall being a frequent watcher of JBVO! It's crazy to think that I and so many others happened to watch this single broadcast from so many years ago and remember it so fondly!
A shame to hear this was so "unpopular", the idea's actually really cool IMO (and the way they handled the DBZ episode is genius, especially given the series' notorious reputation in regard to pacing ahaha), even the small clip included in the beginning of the video had me laughing. Really wish more of it was available!
I remember this was airing in French on CN France too. I did try to call once, but it didn't work. :( I hope people will start to find their tapes if they did record JVBO!
I dug out my VHS collection recently and saw that there was a JBVO bumper mixed with some Looney Tunes Shorts. It was during the dedication broadcasts to Chuck Jones. I hope I may even have a JBVO episode recorded somewhere since I used to record Cartoon Network broadcasts whenever my uncle or anyone else was using the TV in the evening.
Oh my god, I SO remember JBVO! Its too bad that it wasn't popular. But I am lucky enough to know that I witnessed the episode with the DBZ request. That request was so awkward but the compromised offer was funny.
Hey I live in Georgia and that address that appears in the video 1050 techwood drive happens to be a Warner media building. They would probably not be much help in the search though seeing as they were basically the call center for the show and probably don't have any of the calls or emails archived. But I thought since I lived in Georgia and that address is a Georgia address I'd look it up on Google maps. Cool video dude and I hope you find that episode you are looking for.
Holy shit, I remember when this happened! My brother and I were shocked and surprised when we were kids as we wondered if the Toonami-action shows would be on it. My brother and I were amused by the result of this. Damn, it was great growing up in the late 90s to early 2000s.
I remember the DBZ request. I also remember there was a time that someone requested a Scooby Doo episode via email, not giving the episode name but rather describing the episode's villain. Johnny couldn't play this either since it was a full half hour show, so instead they played a "Scooby Doo Villain Fashion show" montage thing. Someone needs to recover that now :)
I remember watching these as a kid. I remember the DBZ request because I never watched it and was disappointed when it was requested as I wanted a show requested that I watched.
I actually remember not only this Johnny Bravo spin-off but also the DBZ request moment. He did indeed fast-forward through an entire episode of DBZ on-air while providing commentary, but I can't remember which episode of either that it was.
wow i didn't know these were considered missing episodes. ill have to dig though a lot of VHSs when i visit my parents, but i know my brother recorded the DBZ one. i ran into it like 7 years back. he recorded a lot of different shows as a teen as well as him playing Perfect Dark on the N64. Jonny comments on Gokus pecs and it always made me laugh so hard! xD
I remember JBVO! Looking back, it was a fascinating concept (using a cartoon for live talkshow-format television), and most definitely something inspired by Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. Back when it aired, though, I didn't like JBVO. I mean, most of the shorts aired were Loony Tunes shorts and Cartoon Cartoons--which Cartoon Network already aired ad-nauseum. I wasn't too keen on Johnny Bravo at the time because his shows were dubbed in Spanish where I lived (hence I missed out on Eric Bauza's amazing performances), but also because his shtick wasn't all that funny to me. Really cool stuff here! I appreciate Cartoon Network today, but I'm still pretty nostalgic for the old '00 - '05 era of CN.
I remember this episode when I was a kid! It’s weird, but for no apparent reason, I had a flashback of this episode a few day’s ago before even stumbling onto ur video! Johnny would call back the kid who made the request for the DBZ episode and would apologize and explain why they couldn’t play the show since it’s 30 minutes long. And he would play a sped up clip of the show with his commentary. It brings back memories! I remember I would ask my mom if I could call JBVO, in which she would not allow me
Shame this JBVO episode is completely lost, it sounds like a pretty funny concept and i would love to see it. Who knows, maybe one day someone will find it
I am obsessed with your channel now! I absolutely love lost media and content especially surrounding cartoons. It has been a goal of mine to one day have this kind of channel. Major props for your hunting skills.
This is unusual. I grew up with my time divided between Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. And I know I'd watched premiere episodes on Fridays during those years [Ed, Edd n Eddy, Dexter's Lab, even the late and great What Happened to Robot Jones]. I have zero recollection of JBVO. And this was before we had internet, it was TV or TV for me [I'm not an extrovert].
I think Cartoon Network just wanted to bury the show because of the low ratings. Back in the nineties and early 2000s it wasn't uncommon for it show that aired live or with life people calling in to be showing again after its original run. Nickelodeon did this a lot with their live shows or call in shows. They'd just put a little message in the beginning saying that it was a pre-recorded broadcast. I only saw a few episodes of this show and its original run, mainly because I didn't have cable growing up in only caught episodes at my dads house. it was a neat concept at the time and has almost never been replicated sense. Aside from a few one one-offs or special episodes of other series.
I remember the episode when Johnny interviewed Scooby-Doo. A caller requested to play a cartoon featuring a dog & Scooby calls out "That's me! That's me!" in the recording booth, but Courage was played instead. I remember being put off by the way he spoke because I realized that wasn't the voice actor from the original cartoon I was used to. Still really funny though.
jbvo did have a marathon back in Dec.2000, according to an old TV guide also the show probaly lasted longer than May 21, since there's even an episode in June
I remember this. It was a frezza saga episode and Jonny said at one point "And theres Frezza again,' It happened right after I got home from my friends house on Sunday and it was one my brother and I got really excited when she asked for DBZ then he said he'd have to speed it up.
I watched this bit I remember that as soon as a kid requested DBZ johnny said that since dbz episodes are a half hour long that he couldn't air it properly but sped it up and commented during it and it was dumb.
I watched a few episodes of JBVO when it was on, and I remember a Dragon Ball Z request coming through. It didn't play out like the scenario this video describes though. In the episode I saw, it was a write-in request. Johnny read somebody's letter on air, and I don't remember the whole letter, but I remember the phrase, "I love Dragon Ball Z!" And I remember Johnny's response to that was something to the tune of, "Well that's a problem, because an episode of Dragon Ball Z is half an hour long, and this show is only half an hour long." And then he took somebody else's request, and the show went on as usual. Now I do vaguely recall a similar fast-forward gag being used in some other Cartoon Network promo I think. I don't remember what it was, but I don't think it was related to JBVO. Maybe people are accidentally combining their memories of that with that JBVO write-in request?
thecianinator yep your definitely correct. I remember Johnny sounding confused when he read the letter since a dbz ep is 30 mins, but it's crazy a good bit of us remember us but there is no footage of it.
I vividly remember that DBZ request happening. It only showed once, but yea, he definitely explained that he wasn't supposed to show DBZ because a single episode was 22 minutes, but then did the girl a favor by saying he'd play an episode, but it had to be fast-forwarded. The whole fast-forwarded episode was about 30 seconds tops (I think it was a Saiyan Saga episode where Goku and Piccolo were fighting Raditz), but he was trying to comment on everything happening despite it being way too quick for him to keep up. After that, he thanked the girl for making the request but explained that he wouldn't do any more DBZ episodes. It played when I was about 7 or 8, but you never forget something so hilarious.
This is the reason I always try to pick up recorded tapes at yard sales and things. You never know what you'll find. And yes, I have found porn a few times... Thank goodness my VCR isn't in the living room.
I know when this happened. And the request was specifically for the end of the frieza saga aka when named blows up. It was sped up to show Goku trying to fly away and Frieza firing a beam at him which Goku shoots back to kill him. The reason I remember that was because this was really odd at the time. This was 1999 around April-May.
I remember this segment and completely forgot about it until now. My mom had a VHS tape of it. The thing that stood out to me the most was Brak in a car singing a song.
Yeah I remember seeing that episode where the kid requested the dbz episode. Johny said they couldn't play it normally because it was half an hour so he fast forwarded it. We had a vcr, but was pretty young so I had no idea how to record things back then.
awesome king I watched Cute Mario Bros all the time a few years back. Can you give me a little description of the episode to see if I can remember it. And if I do, I can give your more information on what happens.
all i remember of it was Caillou trap his head in a clothes drowal and the luigi plushy next to a drink and food thats all the deatales that i can remember @nekogotswag
The really ironic thing is that the clip that he posted is the only clip from this show that I actually remember (I remember the whole "dude who made this Daffy cartoon went hoo ha" bit)
I remember that Guru was in the episode and Johnny said "There's that Guru guy (*commentary*)" Pretty sure the girl was on the line as if she was watching it live.
I remember this myself. I even remember the exact episode of DBZ aired. It was the episode when Namek (finally) blew up. Too bad I was a little kid and the only thing we bothered to record on VHS was episodes of Samurai Jack.
I actually somewhat remember now that it got brought up. I was only about 4 or 5 at the time, though. That fast forward of dbz especially. Remember thinking "the tv is messed up" to myself.
Holy cow, what a great find.
Why is this not the entire episode? Was this a bumper?
thespicehoarder Someone was flipping through the channels while recording the VHS. They missed the beginning of that clip. then it looks like the VHS was used to record bugs bunny.
Captain B. Zarre I remember this, I was ten years old and heavy into Cartoon Network
I definitely remember Johnny fast-forwarding through dbz. It was one of the reasons I even started watching Dragonball.
I love your lost media videos, most of them happen to be on topics that you rarely hear about in the lost media community and it's far more interesting.
Whoa, thanks for that! I'm glad I can cover lost media but still be original about it- that's very nice to hear.
I know I'm late but idrc, it's not a creepypasta too. It's actual lost media.
I can confirm that this actually happened as I was an avid watcher of JBVO back in the day. InfamousMan the girl is in the comments at least i think.
That is so funny!
I remember it was a Frieza episode, and I remember Johnny's commentary was to the like of:
"Whoa, mama! Look out there, Goku!"
"I don't like this Frieza guy."
And various encouraging commentary for Goku.

RaeLogan i remember wstching Monday Nitro after.. even though JBVO was a Sunday Thing Mostly...
I also faintly remember the DBZ request. I refuse to accept people's claims that it never existed, because I do remember small parts of it. Not specific scenes from DBZ, but the request itself.
Has anyone tried contacting the voice actor of Johnny Bravo to confirm the DBZ part?
I will try
Any response?
Kevin TV any response?
It happened, I found a clip of it on one of my VHS tapes and put it up to UA-cam.
Very nice!
Dude I feel like this show would do well in modern day CN
With how much technology is integrated into society nowadays, that's a good point. In fact they almost do a little bit of that now with those bumpers showing the irl kids' faces and the Magiswords collect-a-thon thing. If only CN was cooler or more creative I think they could give it another go.
LSuperSonicQ yee
LSuperSonicQ there would be a lot of trolls tho
Even back then I think it was a "pre-recorded live show" so they could filter out the trolls and obviously not get them on air.

I remembered when this aired as well. As clear as day I thought it was really cool that they did that for her !
@@justmeok3609 I remember it was the episode where the Nameks were on earth and Guru died
I remember this, too. I actually remember watching this show every weekend. I guess it wasn't very popular, but I liked it.
Even as a kid, though, I assumed it wasn't actually live and never bothered calling in. It's pretty surprising to hear now that it actually was.
johnny dlc for xenoverse 2 plz
It might be possible
You just have to find someone who would mod that.
There an Ed and Shaggy mod so why not
Baby and Ssj4 goku and ssj4 vegeta and their fusion forms with the music and everything dlc for dragon ball xenoverse 2.
sonicking87 please
You could always just ask Johnny Bravo's voice actor if he knows about the dbz request. It sounds crazy enough that he might have remembered it. Not sure what to do about finding the actual episode if it's real though.
Mahmood Husein Enough people remember it to seem real, the footage is the only thing that needs to be found.
I remember writing into this show as a kid and getting a phone call from the producers. My assumption is that you speak to the producers and they edit in Johnny's voice for the show. I never actually got to see the show as my family was busy that night and it has haunted me my entire life. I requested the Dexter Lab episode "omelette du fromage" - now if THAT segment could be found somewhere and posted, I would be extremely grateful!!!!
any news?
@@brazilianentertainmentsystem no :(
JBVO was not an illusion of a live show.
Niceeee
This totally happened. I remember being so upset that it was fast forward. He said, "there's that guru guy"
The full segment was found earlier today along with the full episode. The files should still be up on the Internet Archive.
@@Aster_Risk You never know when something is bound to be lost.
Alicia which things were lost media?
I actually watched this episode live and have been trying to find anything discussing it FOR YEARS. I remember the disappointment I had when Johnny announced that he couldn't show the full DBZ episode. Thank you, LSSQ, for the upload!!
Omg it was me I was ten years old I think but I am the one that requested it. I have been looking for a while and couldn't find it! what they did is cartoon network called first stating I had been picked and then they tell you a time to be by the phone to expect his call on another day !
You should've recorded it :P It looks like comedy gold, judging by the clip I found. Nice to meet you and thanks for checking out the video!
Purgatory Basement95 did he have it?
KnightmareParadox not sure if he recorded the dragon ball z request but I'll check the tapes
Purgatory Basement95 please update when you can
Purgatory Basement95 please release it
Purgatory Basement95 : any updates
It did happen. I watched it. I even remember Johnny referring to Freiza as "that Freiza guy!"
I think a similar series with Gumball and Darwin or Beast boy and Cyborg or Garnet would be great.
I called the jbvo number its an insurance company's number now
Smøl Tyler never thought Johny Bravo would become an insurance agent
ky ikr
ky this is officially my new head canon
I bet it was Allstate.
I will never forget Emma.
I've got a big pile of VHS tapes I've picked up in the last year from a few sources. I oughta look through them for lost media before too long.
Brad G so?
So?
I saw this when it happened live, although I SWEAR it was Moltar's 3D Toonami show thing and not JBVO...
Imagine something like this now
50% of callers would be little kids asking for Teen Titans Go, Benten, Mighty Magiswords, or Benten
25% would be kids/adults asking for Steven Universe
The last 25% would ask for old cartoons or obscure cartoons
Like what ever happened to robot jones
you said benten twice
TrueFandom Trash ROBOT JONES YAAAAS
Hoovesandpaws 99 ike
Your forgetting the otakus (like myself) that want episodes of shows like naruto, my hero academia, and attack on titan
Possibly someone from Teen Titans Go, seeing as how Cartoon Network loves to promote that cartoon a lot.
I just remember the episode being one of the last episodes of the Frieza fight on Namek because it cut to a few scenes of Guru on Earth with Johnny saying something like "Whoa, who's this old dude?"
Yup it was episode 105.
if only someone would have requested Spongebob XD
It would be nothing but him laughing the entire segment
These networks/blocks NEED TO release ALL of their archive tapes !
I would LOVE to own the ENTIRETY of Fox Kids, Kids' WB, Toonami, etc.
Johnny Brave reaction to Goku going SSJ:
"Did he just turn into me?"
I remember this happening, something about johnny saying "that Frieza guy" just embedded itself in my brain forever.
A Single Blast Packed with a Totality of Rage" / "Mighty Blast of Rage"
However, this also shows that Toonami originally aired that episode in 1999, well before JBVO aired, so I'm not sure that that helps at all.
I actually watched JBVO the night that DBZ was requested, and I remember getting a kick out of it!
All I want is when Chris Brown preformed on CN Fridays that one time. I cannot find any evidence besides a news paper article ...
FuchsiaMuffin was he even big at the time of CN fridays?
Maximillian Lylat yes he was. i remember him preforming his single Run It and he was dancing funny.
Hahaha, fucking run it
Oh, man. That feels way too familiar. I was about 16 when that song came out, and I watched a lot of CN.
"You do your daily HOO HAA's, right?"
"Yeah"
"Lemmie hear one!"
"hoo haa."
there is a full ep on archive.org with everything intact
This is the direct link to the video: archive.org/details/JBVOEpFromJan5th2001
Psy Weegee is a gift from god
Its gone
Taken down, mate.
I really frickin hate copyrightz.
I wish they would do something like this again. It sounds really fun.
I hope people will start to find their tapes if they did record JVBO!
God this sounds, hilarious! Would love to see a commentary over DBZ
Holy shit, I remember when this happened! My brother and I were shocked and surprised when we were kids as we wondered if the Toonami-action shows would be on it. My brother and I were amused by the result of this. Damn, it was great growing up in the late 90s to early 2000s.
Saddest thing is This really happened. As I saw it on TV. Wish I was that person who taped it.
This did happen, I remeber watching it. He also annouced the last episode of Dragon Ball Z
He did indeed fast-forward through an entire episode of DBZ on-air while providing commentary, but I can't remember which episode of either that it was.
if you request a thirty-minute long cartoon johnny bravo hoo-hahs you into hell
wow i didn't know these were considered missing episodes. ill have to dig though a lot of VHSs when i visit my parents, but i know my brother recorded the DBZ one. i ran into it like 7 years back. he recorded a lot of different shows as a teen as well as him playing Perfect Dark on the N64. Jonny comments on Gokus pecs and it always made me laugh so hard! xD
Wow, if this is true do you think those tapes are still about and salvageable? If someone found it it seems like it would be good for a laugh.
hope you find it
I had forgotten all about this until yesterday haha i vaguely remember seeing this as a kid and wanting to talk to Johnny so badly.
I remember I would ask my mom if I could call JBVO, in which she would not allow me
I used to watch this. I remember one viewer made him a girlfriend out of clay and they actually claymationed it
I love that you did this, keep up the great work!
Shame this JBVO episode is completely lost, it sounds like a pretty funny concept and i would love to see it.
Who knows, maybe one day someone will find it
This totally existed. The only bit of of dbz I ever saw was on this at my grandma’s, I was so confused on why it was sped up.
I remember JBVO. I asked for an episode of Thundaar the Barbarian, but got nothing
I am obsessed with your channel now! I absolutely love lost media and content especially surrounding cartoons. It has been a goal of mine to one day have this kind of channel. Major props for your hunting skills.
Thanks, I hope you continue to enjoy my content!
I do hope the full episode gets recovered one day instead of that 5 sec clip
it’s been found 😁
This is unusual.
You know. If the VA of Johnny bravo still narrated stuff, I would like see him narrate current games and stuff.
Still really funny though.
jbvo did have a marathon back in Dec.2000, according to an old TV guide
also the show probaly lasted longer than May 21, since there's even an episode in June
Yeah since I first made this video new info about it has come out. Still doesn't help that even more episodes than previously thought are lost.
I wish I could just spend one day digging through Cartoon Network's archives
I remember this. It was a frezza saga episode and Jonny said at one point "And theres Frezza again,' It happened right after I got home from my friends house on Sunday and it was one my brother and I got really excited when she asked for DBZ then he said he'd have to speed it up.
Since HBOMAX has been a landing spot for a lot of Cartoon Network properties, why don't they just add JBVO to the mix?
i really wish they did this again it would be super funny with this generation
But yeah I definitely remember the fast-forwarded DBZ episode I had to come here to confirm that I wasn't making it up lol
I watched this bit
I remember that as soon as a kid requested DBZ johnny said that since dbz episodes are a half hour long that he couldn't air it properly but sped it up and commented during it and it was dumb.
I personally remember watching this episode and my older brother running to watch it!
I found footage of it :]
It played when I was about 7 or 8, but you never forget something so hilarious.
live Johnny Bravo quotes and I could have talked to him there's always going to be a little hole in my soul now God damn it
This is the reason I always try to pick up recorded tapes at yard sales and things. You never know what you'll find.
And yes, I have found porn a few times... Thank goodness my VCR isn't in the living room.
Harcion Gaming *upload it on xvideos, that place doesnt have any copyright rules*
Isn't that just a kid version of Space Ghost Coast To Coast?
Makynzee The Fat Hamster certainly sounds like it
I know when this happened.
No idea how I found this channel but I love it.
Holy crap, I completely forgot all about this block. This video awakened memories of watching it Sunday nights as a kid.
Yeah I remember seeing that episode where the kid requested the dbz episode. Johny said they couldn't play it normally because it was half an hour so he fast forwarded it. We had a vcr, but was pretty young so I had no idea how to record things back then.
im finding the lost luigi's vacation cute mario bros 2007 or 2006 can we talk about this sometime
awesome king I watched Cute Mario Bros all the time a few years back. Can you give me a little description of the episode to see if I can remember it. And if I do, I can give your more information on what happens.
all i remember of it was Caillou trap his head in a clothes drowal and the luigi plushy next to a drink and food thats all the deatales that i can remember @nekogotswag
awesome king I
Don't that one sorry! I'll google the episode and find more details!
I was like ALL cartoons are 24 minutes long. I think about this special every 2 months
