Mycology is a deep rabbit hole and so much fun! Let me know if you have any questions throughout your process. I'm no expert - but I'm learning more every day🍄
I've been growing mushrooms for several years and my partner and I are starting a gourmet mushroom farm business. Fresh air has definitely been one of the hardest things to dial in, I'd suggest playing around with how often you exchange your air, 3 minutes every 2 hours for a tent that size seems to me like it might be suffocating the mushrooms in their own CO2. Maybe try 30 seconds to a minute every 15 or 30 minutes. It shouldn't take 3 minutes to evacuate the entire tent, smaller volume of exchanging at more frequent time intervals seems to be better for smaller grow spaces in my experience. Love your passion and video! Keep up the great work :)
This was the comment I needed - thank you very much for giving me a tip on how to improve my FAE! I just switched over to a cycle of 45 seconds every 30 minutes. 👍 That's super cool to hear your hobby growing has evolved into a business opportunity. I often consider a similar path and might have to pick your brain sometime... All the best of luck to you in your venture! Where are you based out of?
Maaaate, well done! Your video is perfect!!!!! Ty I’m 2years behind you I think and I think you’ve just cut off 6months with your advice. Ty again liked, subscribed!x
Much appreciated! I'm glad you found value in the video & I'm happy to have you around. It's a great hobby - let me know if you have any questions along the way👍
Wow it’s amazing to see how you transformed completely a room full of stuff in the dedicated space for mycology research 🎉 looking forward to see all the awesome things you are doing!
I got the same thing going on since I became disabled, I'm about a year and a half in and I have an indoor permaculture farm pushing out herbs all winter long 😊
@ethanzapach right now I'm mostly doing basil, mint, rosemary, and parsley, but also some jalapenos and some apple tree saplings that I'll plant out doors in the spring
Up in my cold climate I haven't even thought about starting spring seeds yet😅 It sounds like you're killing it - what an awesome array of green goodies! That spent mushroom substrate is pure gold for plants. I personally can't wait until my old blocks start popping out some extra compost-pile mushrooms in the spring time!
Thanks man! I have new videos coming out every second Thursday😃 I got the laminar flow hood on Etsy. There are lots out there I'm sure that are good, but I've been really pleased with mine from a seller called Vall3DP
I got lucky with some pieces, so it looks like 2,200CAD (ish). It would be $3K if everything was acquired at value, so you nailed the guess. $300 - Microscope $300 - Dehydrator $600 - Pressure Cooker $300 - Flow hood $200 - table + supplies to clean $75 - Humidifer $75 - Fan $50 - Incubation Tent $300 - Miscellaneous gear $0 - Smart Controller / Automation (I used to work at the company and was gifted a controller when I left) $0 - Main grow tent (someone online wanted to get rid of it) Lots of money saved by asking family to pool on holiday gifts, helping with the bigger items, like the microscope, pressure cooker, and dehydrator. Thanks for watching & let me know if you have any other questions😃
The timing on this upload for me is crazy. just started learning about growing mushrooms a week ago

Growing indoors is such a rewarding hobby to help get through winter. I'm glad to hear you're all set up! What herbs are you growing primarily?
@ethanzapach right now I'm mostly doing basil, mint, rosemary, and parsley, but also some jalapenos and some apple tree saplings that I'll plant out doors in the spring
I use my old substrate from my oyster mushrooms as the "soil" for my plants
