Thanks for the update. I have a Spyder with BRP Bluetooth. I was considering how best to connect it to my bike, but ran into connection headaches. Having multiple Bluetooth devices, adds to a lot of pain getting the "bloody" thing to work. (Limey here in Canada). BRP Bluetooth , did not like my intercom, Carpuride no issues. So will try connecting to Carpuride only. Then I can enjoy my music. Also to note, depending on where you live, I have a plastic box using the original packaging so I can remove my Carpuride when I'm in questionable neighbourhoods. Cheers mate!!

Thanks for this review! Just ordered mine. Got it for under two hundred dollars on sale from Carpuride's site. For the price and features it can't be beat. All I need is my music and maps, just like in the car. This seems perfect for that.
Pleasure, just glad it helped you make a decision, I'm almost a month riding with mine and I love it, had a few anomolies with connecting to Sena intercom, but sussed it now. If you use any intercom, DONT answer the call on the Carpuride, use the answer button on the intercom and you will be fine.
Got a CarPlay unit for 119 Amazon Camacho works brilliantly. Have ordered chigee because I want the BSD for my tourer Ducati MS z1260

Hey Simon, if its possible to cancel your oder then do so, the new W702B is now available and comes with the BMW Nav bracket directly attached to the screen so it will slot straight into the existing BMS electronics and holder. I only found out today as Carpuride are sending me one to review.

I got mine from Amazon yesterday, it worked for 5 mins on Apple Car Play. Now every time the Car Play initiates the unit reboots. It is my understanding that all the You Tubers received their units with the latest firmware as my screen looks different to every review I have watched. I am using iPhone 11 with the latest software, I have also tried an iPhone 6s with an older iOS. Oh and the other thing is every time I increased the screen brightness or swiped left the unit reboots. I am going to upload the latest firmware tomorrow.

NIce video - thanks. You mentioned in part 1 that navigating from the phone while in the car doesn't deplete the battery too much. I've a feeling this is because the car provides the GPS signal. How was the phone's battery-life while navigating on the bike?
Great question, when using carplay all sensors and screen info is provided by data received from the mobile device including GPS data, so on my last outing I was using the device for approx 5 hours and there was no significant drain on the phone battery, it was still at 87%. 👍

Great video. How did you connect the unit to your bike? I’m a GS owner and would love this as a solution. Did you use the BMW nav preparation to hold the device and use the USB socket to power the device? Would appreciate it if you can answer my queries. Thanks
SSSSSSHhhhhh, dont tell anyone, but the XR has now gone, and I too am now on a GS, so a crafty purchase from ebay, link below, and its so easy to wire into the existing NAVI wiring loom, you basically use the purchased plug, solder it to the red and black off the device power cable loom which is supplied with the unit, and then it plugs in to where the BMW Nav prep was before I removed it. I used the bracket and mount kit that came with the unit becuase to use the BMW clamp would have meant a little butchering of it and I didnt want to do that. Thanks for the review. I was watching a review of the Ottacast unit and that doesn’t need a Bluetooth connection to the intercom as there’s an audio option to send audio to the phone and the phone is paired to the Cardo. Watching your Part 1 it looks like you’ve paired your phone to the CarPlay unit. The reason I ask is I’ve given up pairing to the BMW TFT as it breaks too much stuff, ie the Cardo app no longer works and I need that to change DMC Groupa.
100% agree, I just dont connect to the bike anymore, it does cock everything else up. You just given me an idea, I have an ottocast which I used to use in my car, I may try wiring that in, but to be honest its adding something else to the bike when in fact just the 702, my phone and the Sena should work, and at the moment its all working. I did have a blip last week and had to repair the 702 to my Sena, as it stopped working, but all seems ok now. Not sure if you have looked out the window yet but its midday and the sun is out, I'm off out on the bike. LOLO cheers Lee
@@BikersBrew I love tech but BMW at least have it very wrong! I'm keen on one of these AirPlay units but don't actually 'need' it 😉 I've already been out for a few hours. Woke up and the sun was shining, got out on the bike and there are floods everywhere and very misty 🤯 Had a good ride though
Very interesting review, I recently bought an S7 Motorcyle Carplay/Android 7" display from Aliexpress for my Tenere and it is fantastic, the S7 has a light sensor for dimming the screen and changing the apps to night mode, does the Carpuride have this as without it the large screen might be very bright at night.
Hi David, not sure as I havent ridden with it in the dark yet but will test later this week for that, you are right it would be a bit bright if it doesnt dim.
typically the app night to day is reliant on the phone device. as for screen dimming that isk device specific. other reviewers have said it auto dims

Ive just bought one and its spot on. Only issue is that my apps wont transfer over .
Its installed the basics like maps,spotify but wont let me add any others for some reason .

Hi Gary, thanks for the sub, its because of you we have now hit 200 subscribers, well chuffed. OK so in terms of apps on Carplay units, they will only display app that are CarPlay compatible and not all apps are. For nav I use an app called My Route App, plus theres also one called Calimoto, both of these geared towards bikers and their apps are compatible so auto matically are shown on the screen, same with the usual favourites like spotify, Audible, Whats app etc, so itall depends if the app developer has made it compatible. All depends on whether the app is carplay compatible, many apps are, but not familiar with Outdooractive , sorry.

Question; does this Carpuride W702 have the 'Ghost Touch' problem that all smart phones have?
Do rain drops cause problem when you try to operate it with gloves or without gloves , and device have mind of its own and do weird things? Next time you ride in rain or spray some water on the W702 screen, see if does weird things if you try to touch the screen. Thanks!

Ive been looking for a satnav but after reading many issues with Tom Tom ect, Ive put this on back burner….now after seeing this, im now eager to go forward and investigate …whats the power source ? Ive a quad lock charger and a usb port seperate… s1000R gen 2 and use proper wiring loomed to provide power.
Out in the rain yesterday and it seemed to be fine, there were a few drops of rain on the screen but it is protected by the bike screen, but it worked ok for me.
@@saab93contdi hi, well its made quite easy, because in the box you get the hardwire kit with fused cable, but you also get the USB power cable, so you can just route the wire and plug it into your extra USB socket. I wired my in as I didnt have a USB socket. Hope that helps.

how is the audio when you make calls? Can you hear the caller and can the caller hear you?
You must be using an intercom, Sena or Cardo seem to be the best, then it uses the speakers and mic in the helmet, audio is superb both ways, if you just use your phone on a mount on the bike it will be terrible. If you use any intercom, DONT answer the call on the Carpuride, use the answer button on the intercom and you will be fine.
For my bike a 7 inch screen is probably a bit big but do u know if the 502 model is as new?
Hi Chris, the 502, from what I have seen, was the earlier model, not sure what the differences are as I havent checked, but for me I needed the bigger screen as my reading needs larger print.Cheers

Does the unit sit in a cradle so that the unit can be removed when parked to prevent theft
Hi James, depends which option you go for, the standard versions come with their own mounting bracket which is fixed to the bike and thus not removeable, however one of my followers, used a Quadlock mount on his W702 so he can easily remove it. If you ride a BMW then the new B suffix versions come with the mount for the existing BMW nav bracket and therefore makes them removable. Check out my latest video as it show you the new B versions.
Do you have your phone connected to or paired with the bike at all?
Only way I could get it to work was Phone is paired with Carpuride and Headset is paired with Phone.
Can you talk to other riders when using the Carpuride?
Yes, we use Sena intercoms and its all fine,
I have one of these. It works fine and I got the £40 Voucher from Amazon so quite a bargain. HOWEVER it just looks to big and out of place for me. Its like a Huge Wide Screen Tele in a small room. The RAM mount makes it stick out far too much. I have removed it until I can come up with a better way of mounting it to my bike. If you own a small ish bike then you may be better off with the 5" version. 😐

Hi there, no there is no subscription, its just simply a Carpaly/Android unit which acts as a second screen for your phone.
Do you know if it works with Android Auto? I am too cheap to get an iPhone. I spend all my money on the bike.

Purchased for my BMW F750GS, but does not power on via USB, not enough power from the USB socket - buyers beware
Oh no, gutted for you. But having said that most usb power on bikes is only 2amp max, many are only 1.2 amp designed for charging your phone, and a 7”tft screen will need at least 2.5 amp. When I used usb as a temp install on my XR it was to the hella socket on the bike with a usb adapter and that worked fine no issues, but I was always going to use the switched supply that powered the Motorrad sat nav bracket. The only downside to Google map is that it relies on the phone. Go to Scotland where you'll lose your signal, then see what happens. Otherwise, great solution.
no longer an issue as google maps is now available off line and the process of downloading maps is so easy, you can even select bespoke areas to download in the different packages, ie Road only, road and hybrid, poi's and so much more, and.... its FREE ! unlike Garmin and Tom Tom who charge for updated maps unless you pay for a subscription. Also as I mentioned in the video, no other company invests in and updates map data as frequently as Google. Problem solved, no ?
Don't really get it. Way to many detractions. Takes away the enjoyment from riding a bike. Looking at screen s you don't need,phone calls. Music ? Maybe I'm getting old. But only my opinion. Ride safe.
Hi Darren, I think most folk these days use some form of satnav, as we now tend to do longer ride outs, so nothing extra there, but that was the main reason for using this device, cheaper than dedicated units and using far superior maps (google) in my opinion of course. I personally dont use music when riding, why would I when I live just 10 miles from the fab Yorkshire Dales, I love to enjoy rides for the scenery, but the intercom is a great addition as the banter we have when out on rides is great fun, plus it also indicates when folk are finding it tough as the 'airwaves" go very quiet, LOL

I also have XR and want all the gadgets. Having maps updated on the fly with road conditions and the road preview infront of my view is a big plus or even must have on unknown roads while touring...

I have used both Google and Apple maps and both work fine.
