This is in my city. General Santos from the island of Mindanao here in the Philippines. They are all locals. They do this weekly in a spot called Cabin Brewery. This right here is a normal night out for us. Cheers! 🙂🍻

In Philippines, theres a lot of bands or groups of musicians that perform in a bar, clubs events any place in Philippines as their profession especially places like Manila, Subic, Angeles Pampanga. The bars and clubs there are back to back and thats part of Filipinos night life and tourist attraction. And of course they're all professional because that's their job. And not anyone can be in band just because they like that kind of job, if that make sense. And that's how Arnel Pineda started, he was the lead vocalist in a band "Ijos" then became "AMMO". If you're not musically gifted then you won't get a gig or not gonna have that kind of job. Some group of bands have 3x, 4x, 5x gig every week and if you're really good some of them performed 7 nights a week in different bars and clubs. And a gig in a night is composed of 3 sets normally. Each sets is an hour and usually the band leader is the one making the list of songs their gonna sing in an hour then they go on break after 30 to 40 minutes then resumed or sometimes they have another band alternate with them performing like back to back so they'll have an hour break each. So, if you visit Philippines thats one of the thing you can do, watch live bands performing and you can even go bar hopping so you'll see more different bands. I hope i answer your question. This aged well and singing contest here in the Philippines will copy her rendition trust me..
It's the result of false thinking in the past generations. To begin with, Filipinos love to sing. When singers from the West started producing vocally difficult songs (started in the late 70s), Filipinos thought that time that those artists actually sing those songs the same way when they're singing live. Because of that, Filipinos strived to sing those songs just like how they're sung in recording. The mentality is, If you can't hit the notes like the recording, then you're not that good. That's how Regine came about in the 80's and became the golden standard eversince. Everyone was chasing after her, and the result, we now have Mori, Katrina, Jona, and other very capable singers from the Philippines. That is why Regine is the GOAT.

Pop artists can't do it. They're overly produced and the managers and the record label doesn't want the public to know they aren't actually 'talented' and there's not enough money for the industry to make off the artist for these events. That's why it's not done. At least IMO.
What you are saying is from time or era of Emilda Papin, Eva Eugenio, Sharon Cuneta, Dina Bonevie, Jessa Zaragosa...they are really not that good as their recordings.

On those era their era I really loved the voice tone that stands out for me, voice tone of Kuh Ledesma and few others until now.
