Laser tools do a torque multiplier and Ford eco boost adapter for around £425 but then like you say there’s the engine timing kit plus you don’t know how bad things are until you’ve got the motor out it’s just an uneconomical repair feel for the young lad.
Hi Sandy, Haynes manual says you can do a new bolt to 300NM + 90 deg to get the same result as the torque multiplier. Check out All Things Jim, he's done a timing cover replacement on here, think he works at a main dealer so has all the special tools at his disposal but its still a good video for showing what's involved
There actually really easy to repair.. I’ve done a few ,, no need for torque multiplier there’s other ways ,, they only ever slightly bend 2 exhaust valves ,, clean out the oil pick up and it’ll be good to go with new belts ect . Thanks
Hi Sandy, can be done safely without the multiplier, idea is to go very slowly with the 90 degree bit to avoid shock and twist to crank , as said new bolt and friction washer......
What a horrendous engine design! Thanks for showing us this. I like the Fiesta, but not with a ticking timebomb like that. I'll never buy one! Surely the car is a total loss at this point?
When Ford Brought these engines out didn’t they say the timing belt would last the life of the engine what a badly Designed engine it is how to lose customers
Steve is correct, will.be new engine for me with a warranty,

These ford engines are a nightmare Sandy, throwaway units , costing the punter too much to fix , spares or repairs auction and get a different car 👍👍👍
