I love that you talked about social media making you feel gross. I feel like it’s been my biggest struggle with growing as an artist. It’s such a distraction for me. With aimless scrolling or checking in constantly on something I’ve posted. It’s something I’m working on finding balance because it’s such an important tool for artists. I’m trying to stick to only having it on my work computer and tablet, so the only way I can check in is if I’m “working”.

I personally love hand-made canvases vs pre-stretched ones, but some that are not pre-gessoed are great as well! When I was an art student, we usually went to the hardware store to buy wood, quarter rounds, hardboard, etc rather than buying those stretcher bars. That way we could customize the sizes we want, but since lumber prices have gone up since then, not sure if it's worth it anymore... Hope you had a lovely christmas!!

I grew up crocheting pretty much exclusively with a 3.5mm hook. The big fat ones with fat yarn really wasn't a thing in the 90's. You did awesome with that hat! And I LOVE the colors.

I also took a big social media break because it felt icky about it, like you said. I was always opening, closing, immediately reopening . And for me, I don't have a business through it so what was I posting and sharing so much for? lol I recently made a new profile just focused on art and I noticed that the break I took totally broke that habit of wanting to check things all the time. I hope you can slowly break that "itch" to check constantly too! It feels way more peaceful and intentional now.

Woo! Love this cozy video!!! I still stretch my own canvases when I can. It's super cheap and easy if you have access to a router. My folks have one, so when I visit I try to make stuff. Otherwise I'll stretch canvas over a pre-made panel! It is more expensive but I love the look and feel :)
