If Russ averages a triple double and gets to 50 wins, then I don't see how you wouldn't give him MVP with all the respect I have for Harden and what he's doing this year.
Alright, fine..lets say he does that. He averages 32/10/10. The Thunder get the 7 seed..they face the Spurs in the first round and get swept. Ok, they win one game and lose in 5 games.
Now it's the off-season..the Thunder dont sign anyone of note because Westbrook averaged 30 shots a game on 38% shooting in the playoffs and no one wants to play with him on the team, again.

Daniel Walton people like you know nothing abt basketball, you do realize his low percentages is derived from him having to take a heavy load on the offensive end and create shots himself and he goes to the basket a lot also. Don't look at percentages use the eye test my friend. No player is perfect they all have flaws every single one, westbrook makes winning plays. Ima die hard thunder fan i have seen more thunder games then everyone in this comment section I can promise you that and I'm gonna tell you that westbrook has made so many more winning plays than bad plays that you all look at with a heavy scope. Harden is my guy also but westbrook averaging a triple double on the season will be far more impressive than the big O doing it cuz their were much more possessions in each game at that time and he will have done it while averaging more points and accumulating more wins. And let's be honest who would have thought that anyone would be able to average a triple double an entire season again even lebron who is the best all around player to play couldn't have done it. Truth be told if westbrook and kd were able to find the chemistry I think Russ woulda been close to averaging it almost his whole career cuz kd played off too much iso ( but okc coaching was to blame for their flimsy offense that was only good cuz of kd and Russ and that shows how great they are also the fact that the team lacked shooters and ball handlers/play makers and had god awful kendrick perkins

Here's a late 2 cents I would add. I would say Westbrook is the MVP. Most Valuable PLAYER. The Thunder are a not a 7th or 8th seed without Westbrook. The Rockets aren't a top seed without D'Antoni.

The problem is Westbrook is not perfect. I heard Chris Broussard say that I dont think Thunder would win more games if Westbrook played like Maurice Cheeks. Westbrook almost has to play his style of game for Thunder to Win any games at all because thats just who he is.He turns over, he misses shots but he also scores alot of baskets also and puts up incredible numbers. Westbrook doest have nearly the amount of shooters as James Harden has. James also is playing with 2 NBA Champions on his team with Ariza and Brewer those guys are so underrated and are better than anyone on the Thunders roster. Victor Olidipo is good for the Thunder the problem is he is short just like Westbrook. I Say Houston has a better record because they just are a better team period and have better players. I like Westbrook as MVP even if he doesnt get it I hope he can make history. It would be amazing to see it.

If russ averages a triple double and his team makes the playoffs, he HAS to get the award. Doesn't matter what seed they are. The rockets shoot the most 3s in the league and can score much easier in Dantoni's system. The only 3 point specialist the thunder has is Anthony Morrow. Harden clearly has the better supporting cast.

I never understood why people make the record such a big deal win picking a MVP it's an award for a single player the teams record is achieved by the teams play. That said I understand if westbrook isn't in the playoffs and harden is playing this great and his team is 3 or 60 wins or close ok. But okc has a winning record and is in the playoffs with a team with less talent than harden'so rockets. Westbrook was in the playoff race for averaging a triple double in a month two seasons ago everyone was like it's insane and okc barely missed the playoffs (kd injured basically all year) and Russ team was not very talented and he missed games due to injury... Now this season he isn't missing games, averaging the triple double for a season, in the playoffs, and he has no other superstar teams go at him and he goes back and does his thing.. Harden is the man too tho and I'm sure he will win the award at some point maybe even this year cuz ppl are blind, but westbrook clearly has been ahead of him the whole season so far and it is likely to continue.. I'm going to disagree with that to an extent. LeBron's team is NOTHING without him. He does make players better. Those guys that you named on Curry's team (or used to be like Barnes) are more all-around players than what LeBron is working with. Yeah, Irving is the exception, very talented, but Love isn't what he used to be and guys like Smith (streaky shooter), Shumpert (good defender but offensively challenged), and Tristan Thompson (fierce rebounder but absolutely NO offensive game) have all thrived under LeBron.No way those guys would be any good without him. Take Curry out of Golden State (even pre-Durant) and they are still a formidable squad. Draymond (especially), Klay, and Barnes all have all-around games separate from Curry. They can do things on the court even in absence of Curry, not to mention when they had that great bench before acquiring Durant who could go in and keep it going in lieu of Curry. They almost swept the Rockets after Curry went down in Game 2 of the first round and took a 2-0 lead on Portland in the semifinals without. LeBron's team can barely win a game without him. And I know what you are thinking! Lol Doesn't that prove that LeBron doesn't make his teammates better? But it just proves how valuable he truly is because the Cavs are lost without his leadership.
