I can't thank you enough for this excellent video. Everything is perfect, the closeups, the camera lighting and all the information is so well described, that anyone watching should be able to follow you and accomplish this with your tutorial. My boys each surprised me with one of these machines at Christmas. I plugged in the 1930s one just for a minute to see if the motor worked. It sounded wonderful, and ran better than any vintage machine that I have had, or seen in years. That really surprised me with its age and physical neglect. I can't wait to feed her some grease and oil and see any difference.. The case is also a nightmare but I love a good challenge. That machine will need to be repainted at some time. The 1950s ones appearance is good, and looks like yours, however when started up, the motor was really lagging and sounded nothing like the older one. I didn't see any issue with wiring, belt or anything on the outside and really hoping it isn't going be a big issue inside. I am so grateful to have seen this video tonight. I have been so anxious to get one of these up and running where I could use it. I am going to start with the oldest. I can tell she was loved by the scratches and chips. She was well used and still going strong. I love and appreciate all your videos and learn a lot from them. I found your channel over a year ago and subscribed on the first vid. Thank you for the work and time you have used to help us all.. I hope your new year is blessed.

I kept my childhood 222k due to a derisory trade in offer. Case and machine in excellent condition. All attachments and supplied with 2 grease tubes and a can of oil. The only issue is the timing, but it is illegal to work on it in the UK due to current electrical standards. I managed to give mine a service and realise now, how much more went into the 222k.

Timing is not electrical. Search Google and UA-cam to find how to do it.

@@tsunamis82 because the wiring doewn’t pass the current standards, the mechanic is not allowed by law to work on any mechanical aspect of the machine as he would be guilty of bringing an electrical hazard back in to use and he doesn’t do electrics. Here a qualified electrician who understands sewing machines is required .

@@wendyrowland7787 it’s not that hard to rewire a machine. He also needs to check and remove the condensers. They can be in two places, in the foot pedal and in the machine. There is UA-cam video on how to do this correctly and your electrician most likely needs to look at it. One wrecked my friend’s machine by just cutting the condenser off. It needs to be wired up correctly. New sparkies are not experienced in old machines. Condenser were put in to stop early TV and radio interference. No longer need now and your FW can start sewing slower by itself. I have come across several machines that have been rewired. The Feather Weight shop sells new cords and feet online and they are UK too. Tons of resources and parts there too.
