    Dulled a scissors and a hacksaw blade to sharpen a pruner.

    This is a great idea!
    I was looking for a way to dismantle the shears and just sharpen the cutting edge with a hand file but I couldn't find one! DOH!

    You shouldn't sand the flat side, on any scissor cutting tool. If you do you then create two cutting edges and a gap.

      Easier to just use a Dremel tool to sharpen blades without disassembly.

    If you're taking material off the back side, you need to learn what that does, now you have a gap... Only sharpen on the beveled side.

      Correct….I sharpen chain saws, lawnmower blades and other small cutters and you should never grind the backstop leg unless there is burr or protruding damage that is chafing the beveled cutting leg. Sharpen the bevelled edge only….

    Have you ever cut your finger running it along the blade? You can tell the sharpness running a finger across the blade.
