  • Religious developments under Elizabeth I were the cause of the Puritans (the Presbyterians and the Separatists) and the Catholics. Although the Religious Settlement 1559 had been an effective compromise between Protestants and Catholics, the staunchest among them were an issue. The Puritans wanted further reform and the Catholics wanted a Counter-Reformation. The problem of the Catholics was increased in the 1570s after Elizabeth was excommunicated and there was the St. Bartholomew's Massacre in 1572.

People don't realize. If not for this specific course of history. America and thr world that exists today would not have come to be. All those people that disagreed with Elizabeth and others who fled from Mary. Thr first Americans. This is why this family, this form of religion and thr course of history it led to fascinates me so much.
I am a first generation American by way of Eritrea, Africa. This type of Christianity never reached us and its history never influenced us. Martin Luther himself admitted our form of the faith is a perfect example of what he knew the faith should be as.
Growing up in America and going to a Greek Orthodox church. Greek Orthodox because in the 80s Eritreans did not ha e their own churches in the states yet. While Eritrea practices a form of the faith called Oriental Orthdox. The Greek Orthodox branch is similar to ours. Thus why I grew up in the Greek Orthdox church.
School doesn't teach about religion. My church never talked about these guys. As an adult is when I became fascinated by this history. The Tudors being the main ones that sparked my interest. But even the war of the Roses and how that history led to the Tudors even being a name and future Kings and Queens of England.
    Great video. Thank you 🙋🏾‍♂️🇺🇲🇪🇷🇺🇲🇪🇷
