After telling friends that I fly gliders they often respond with a "that must be so peaceful". My response is usually, if I were to take you up in a two seater you would think that but in reality, I am exhausted after a long flight because of the continuous mental evaluation of the decision process. I also say, when I know I have final glide made with safety altitude it is the best. No more thermal searching, ground clues to search, just maintaining a diligent lookout and flying home. A long "Final glide" is the best. Great video.
I always enjoy your videos Bruno. I never used to give sailplanes a lot of thought thinking I'd love to get my private ticket, and use it to travel around the northeast. Then I came across your Snake River Mountains video, and I might just be willing to give up breathing air to try out some soaring. Keep 'em coming. I love your soaring videos.
The legend returns! Glad to see you back in the air and back on the interwebs, looking forward to more flights! I'd probably watch the full flight lol, I like to put them on in the background, sorta like looking out the window of a plane or train I guess. Specifically a plane in this case.
Appreciate the videos, Bruno! Recently relocated to NM and haven't flown in a very long time. Stumbled upon your videos last year and finally got hooked up with the local glider club. First lesson is next weekend! Looking forward to the add-on certificate and exploring a whole new kind of flight.
What glorious conditions for the end of a flight Bruno,165 knots is darn close to what some of the more powerful, light powered aircraft with a single piston engine can maintain at cruise. But they burn 15gallons of gas per hour and cost a fortune to maintain in order to do it!
Thanks for the great video. We are waiting for spring and look forward to new videos. The area around Nephi Airport and Heber city is fantastic for thermal flying. Good luck in the upcoming flight season 2022. :)
Welcome back! I remember this flight - I thought we were going to be driving to Vegas to pick you up at one point. It must have been an epic flight, can't wait to see the full video.
Thanks! I got the full flight on film and will release a few snippets and then the full thing. I figure you would have to be crazy to watch the full flight but have at it. Haha. It’s wonderful to know that friends in the glider community always have your back if you land out in nowhere land. Glad it hasn’t happened yet to me. Take care!
Bruno, your absence has been noted, but what a comeback!!! 750Km O&R, State Record(pending) and oh what a final glide. You are going to let your daughter fly the 27 this year as you look to maybe a 33? I want you to adopt me. I'm only 71 but I will be a faithful son!!!
Hehe, motion sickness? Tell you what I'd love, a hydraulic chair, reclined, with the proper computing power to move the chair based upon your excellent videos! Who needs a massage chair? I would like a full motion Bruno chair!!
There is something I don't get... It is January and you are wearing shorts and a t-shirt? 😀 I remember summertime in Utah as being great (and stormy), but I didn't know the winter was that mild...
Thanks for watching and for commenting. I now have 2 4k cameras as well as another 360 degree camera so I am hoping that 2022 new gliding videos will have some fun new angles and shots from both inside and outside of the cockpit. Cheers!
I didn't try to do this stabilization for this video. The camera defaulted to this. I'm not quite sure if I like it or not. Will play with both this and without in future flights. Thanks for watching!
Love all of your videos! I have been a follower for years and years 🙂 I wanted to ask you, the left handle that I see you adjust during flight (looks like flaps), are you pushing it forward to "reflex" the airfoil to pick up speed to go from thermal to thermal? and then putting in a very slight amount of down to slow and rise once in? Does your plane also have spoilers? Last, how high is the tow plane generally bringing you?
Thanks for watching and for saying hi. This glider has flaps. Pushing them forward moves them to negative flaps. Pulling back is more positive. In a kit the middle of the flap travel is neutral. The speed I am flying is the determining factor for which flap setting I am flying. When I fly with water ballast that can change the speed to fly per flap pretty dramatically. For example empty no water I move into the flap setting 1 (full forward) at 97 knots and when I am ballasted with water at max weight I don’t go to 1 until 116 knots. Yes my glider has spoilers. Normal tow is to about 2,000 ft above the ground. Cheers.
Seeing this nice gliding reminds me of all the animal shows that say such and such doesnt actually fly it glides but gliding is flying it just isnt powered flight.
Personally I prefer when the camera horizon stabilization is turned off. I mean, I wanna feel like I'm sitting in the pilot seat, not floating :/ Edit: seems like many soaring UA-camrs have been using new horizon stabilized cameras. I don't get the appeal.
Yep! I am eyeing the 33 but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. The 27 still has my heart. My guess is I will start letting my daughter fly the 27 next year and then will move to something newer.

Relax. I'd gladly come and get you, wherever you outlanded. :)
It's good to see you back. Looking forward to watching more of your gliding adventures.
I seriously thought you were going off the end of the runway. Precision!!
It's great to see you back. I have always loved your narrations which makes your glider videos special. Once again, glad to see you back.
Epic stuff in a wild sky ! 👍🏆👍
Yea Bruno! Thanks for taking the time to put this great stuff together for us groundhogs to enjoy! Your a rocking pilot!
Flirting with the red line! Beautiful glide home. Good stuff. Chur.
What beautiful scenery & cloud-scenery. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome back, Bruno! Epic final glide, for sure. Flying at Nephi is definitely a bucket list item for me. I'm looking forward to more videos!
Welcome back Bruno, we've missed your videos.
Finally!! Missed your videos! Thank you!!! Greez, Roger
I like seeing the glider moving around in the air with the still background, seems a little more real to me. And great to see you back posting.

Awesome - Glad to see you have got your spirits back! and hopefully the desire to make more videos. Thank you for posting again, it’s appreciated.

Nice to have you back Bruno. That certainly was "landing long"🙂
What a beautiful evening. The light was perfect. Nice to see you back flying Bruno. Missed your videos.
Thanks Bruno. I love going flying with you. When I was gliding it was the best time of my life.
Every time I watch you land I think you're going to overshoot the runway. Every time... haha
He does it to bother you :-P
I missed your videos. Welcome back!
Great to see you back….congratulations on the new record. Enjoy each video….thanks.
My Gosh I've missed your video's! Thank you for sharing Bruno!
Bruno, Your videos are great. I hope you'll share a lot more going forward.
Wow, awesome mission, great scenery, great landing. Well done!
Glad to see you back in action again, Bruno. Looking forward to the next video.
Beautiful area. Wonder what other types of landings you practice, beyond glider landings in gliders 😉
Nice to see you back again!!
Always look forward to your vlogs even if they are long, great watching

Happy New Year Bruno!! Incredible flight!
you always give nice ideas where to glide next in Microsoft Flight Simulator, thank you! :D
Thanks for posting again! Really enjoyed it!
Yipee! He is back.

it's good to see you're posting again. nice video
Good to see you back, I thought you had lost your inspiration .
Thanks for the kind words. I had/have and am working towards getting it back. Cheers!
Loving the new camera setup, the old way I always used to tilt my head all the time.
Haha. Thanks. Unfortunately I am switching back to the old way. This way is making too many people motion sick. 🤮
Hehe, motion sickness? Tell you what I'd love, a hydraulic chair, reclined, with the proper computing power to move the chair based upon your excellent videos!
Who needs a massage chair? I would like a full motion Bruno chair!!
Long time no see!
well done Bruno - good result!
Glad to see you back in the air!
Cool content. Have you ever went up on a nice thermal active day to see how far you could go. I'm guessing you could cover an amazing distance.
It seems the description may have answered my question. You must forgive me, I'm new to this channel.
Been a long time, nice to see a new video. :)
Beautiful and relaxing!
Beautiful vid, thanx a lot Bruno
Fantastic!
Curious to know what you've got the camera set up on as it seems fixed on the horizon. Very cool.
Beautiful landing!
Good stuff indeed!
You're back! Yay :)
Landing long. Yup, mission accomplished!
There is something I don't get... It is January and you are wearing shorts and a t-shirt? 😀 I remember summertime in Utah as being great (and stormy), but I didn't know the winter was that mild...
Beautiful!
Happy new flying year Bruno!
This video does not show full beauty of that sunset view you have experienced. It is epic. Bruno, were you thinking about external 4k camera?
Thanks for watching and for commenting. I now have 2 4k cameras as well as another 360 degree camera so I am hoping that 2022 new gliding videos will have some fun new angles and shots from both inside and outside of the cockpit. Cheers!
Amazing.
So beautiful
A new video! Christmas in January?!
New camera with stabilisation? Like it!
I didn't try to do this stabilization for this video. The camera defaulted to this. I'm not quite sure if I like it or not. Will play with both this and without in future flights. Thanks for watching!
Well glad to have a new video - possibly my favourite UA-cam channel. Look forward to more 😄

It's amazing how realistic flight simulators are these days. :-)
Seeing this nice gliding reminds me of all the animal shows that say such and such doesnt actually fly it glides but gliding is flying it just isnt powered flight.
Awesome
Maximum use of daylight as well as runway !
You have a Rolex Submariner when you fly? (Not on this flight and video though)
Been far too long....thought you had retired from gliding 🤣🤣🤣
Im first #1 Bruno fan all the way!!!!!
Haha. Thanks! 😎👍
Where have you been a this time?
Personally I prefer when the camera horizon stabilization is turned off. I mean, I wanna feel like I'm sitting in the pilot seat, not floating :/
Edit: seems like many soaring UA-camrs have been using new horizon stabilized cameras. I don't get the appeal.
My thoughts exactly. It gives a very odd and unnatural feeling. Not pleasent to watch at all.
Do you fill your O2 bottles with regular air or medical air?
Aviation air of course. That’s what the FAA says to do and I follow and obey.
Thanks for the upload Bruno! The stabilization kind of made me nauseous though 🤮
Still in the 27?
Yep! I am eyeing the 33 but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. The 27 still has my heart. My guess is I will start letting my daughter fly the 27 next year and then will move to something newer.
@@BrunoVassel guess your soul is screaming for 18meters, similar to asw29 or something...
@@BrunoVassel btw... I'm your daughter😂
15m should be enough for everyone. 750 with 85 mph , what would you need 18m for?
Great to see you back gliding
