What a nectar flow!
It's been amazing so far. I hope your girls are doing well.
Yaaass ladies !!!
I love it!!!!!
Here in central MN we are in a drought and the lawns are turning brown. Nectar flow is turning off and I wonder if the basswood will do much. It was a good year until it didn't rain for 2 months. So jealous of your flowers and flow - good for you, wish I had some too. LOL
We were in the same situation last fall and I didn't get a fall harvest. This is the part of beekeeping that I try to explain to people that it is farming and you are not guaranteed anything. I hope it gets better for you and the girls.
@@mrtsbees4454 Thanks.
Nice...I have about 4 full supers...but still about a week away from being ready to extract. I still have lots of honey in the brood chamber too...not sure I am convinced the bees move honey up. Hard to tell, it's such a monster flow this year. We are about halfway through the Linden flow...then I think July will dry up...but you never know.. it's like the year before last right now. Let's hope it keeps going!
i have never seen bees moved capped honey. especially honey from the year before they will not touch at all once the honey flow is on. i run all deeps so i just move honey frames from the brood chamber into a super and checkerboard when necessary.
Yes they won't move capped honey up so I usually just scrape the cappings off. I do the same thing in the fall when I am trying to get them to pull the honey down closer to the brood nest before condensing. Fingers crossed that it keeps going for you and the girls.
Can you show use your scraper?
I will in the next video.
Looking good! I think I call that honey suckle? Does it smell strong like roses? This past week the girls have really slowed down with the foraging. Your flows usually go through June I think?
For me the honey suckle was a few weeks ago. This is just like a rose but it produces a blackberry. Yes we usually run till the end of June but this year we are 2 weeks ahead so time will tell.
