Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !

I got a Concept 2 Model C rower back in 1994. Since I got my rower 28 years ago I purchased the newer style draw bar with a slight bend that comes with the Model D forward and added the thin cushion for the seat. YMMV but that thin cushion makes big difference to how long I can comfortably go longer distances. But to echo his comments, it is a bulletproof machine that just keeps going and going.

Went with the Sunny Health two years ago. The benefit of magnets is that they are quiet, which the neighbor upstairs appreciates. Maxing out resistance is a waste, maybe good for the ego but your form suffers. At a third of the price, it's an excellent no frills machine. I use it multiple times a week, and it's great for a quick warm up before lifting. Concept2 would be nice, but having more money for other equipment to complete my home gym was a big plus. I've been rowing on the water this summer and love it.

As someone who owned Sunny equipment before a heed of caution: you get what you paid for. That is all. Lol
Aside, glad it's working out for you, but the saying is true.

I’m a rower and my team uses concept 2s because they are built like tanks and they emulate the feeling of rowing in water better than any other machine. If you want a bit more excitement when on their erg, get the sliders for the erg to really get a good on water technique driven experience.

One of the best things about Aviron is they listen to their customers throughout their social media communities and make improvements. Since the first iteration came out, they've increased the handle width, added streaming media like Netflix, Disney, Spotify, etc to use right on the device while you row (surprised Coop didn't mention this), and now they just came out with quicker released straps. They strive to improve based on feedback and you really don't find that with many products these days.

You guys should do a review of the FrayFitness Savage series Functional trainer and power rack combo. Maybe do it compared to the Rep Fitness Ares attachment? The fray fitness rack and cable system is just over half as much as the Rep series 5000 with Ares attachment. Another interesting item is the BodyCraft RFT power rack with functional trainer combo. I think power racks with built in functional trainers are the future of home gym equipment. Keep it up guys!

I'm on a weightloss journey, and I recently got below 500 pounds, which is the listed max weight of the concept2 rower, so I'm thinking about getting one for exercise in the winter when I can't swim. It's interesting how it's pretty much the highest listed max weight for any piece of cardio equipment you can buy, most of even the heavy duty ones max out at 400 pounds.

    • @Iamsampresley

    • @richardmather1906
      @richardmather1906 2 роки тому +7

With Rowers, the C2 is the default choice. You don't start with a list of features you want and see if you end up there. You start there, and then see if there are features you must have that rule out the C2 (the connected thing, primarily).
What people rarely point out in these reviews how C2 fits in so well with workouts featuring lifting, or core work, or other cardio. You can program the monitor for intervals of set time or distance. You do the interval, jump off, do your deadlifts or your pushups or you planks or kettlebell movements, etc. whatever, jump back on, repeat, repeat again, etc.
You can do things like that on the other rowers, but they are not set up as well for it as the C2.

Bodycraft vr400 is the best rower by far right now they are on sale so they cost only 300 more than concept 2 but have so many things that r better than concept 2. 7yr parts warranty, better monitor that u can upgrade to an interactive screen with no subscription, folds up and has wheels instead of breaking in 2, has a wider rage of resistance because it's not just air but also magnetic, it's smoother and stronger in general the frame is badass. U can't beat it everytime someone comes into my work looking for a concept 2 I show them the vr400 in case they would rather go with that

Why no love for the WaterRower?

Yeah that’s weird, WaterRowers are awesome. Probably because the feel/price is so similar to Concept 2. But I prefer the WaterRower because it’s quieter.

In addition to the strengths of the C2, there is a "garage gym culture" bias at work, IMO. You go on any lifting forum, its C2 all the time. Especially on forums focused on working out at home. Truly, that applies to the connected rowers as well. Most garage gym guys scoff at the price and features of the connected rowers. Think "cardio" (water rower, hydrow, etc.) vs "conditioning" (C2, Assault rower).

I've asked this already but, will you guys be reviewing specific machine equipment like machine chest supported rows, hack squats, leg presses, leg curls/extensions, etc. from brands like Prime, Arsenal, Hammer Strength, Atlantis, Panatta, Elite FTS, Precor, etc.?

@rack biceps curl athlete I have a power rack and I can probably fit one or two additional large equipment before space is completely filled. I decided to not get a cardio based machine and wanted lower body and back focused machines as the compound movements with free weights are making my lower back tired. Hack squat or leg press + some sort of chest support row machine is what I want. Those three large pieces of equipment (including power rack) should be able to fit in a garage gym layout I had in mind.
And while I understand your question, I would rebuttal with what kind of home gym enthusiast would buy the monthly subscription personal trainer app when it costs so much and is counter to self-sufficiency? Obviously some people do want it, so I don't mind it being advertised here. I'm just asking a question if GGR would review the types of equipment I'm interested in. No big deal if they don't.

There’s a rower at Costco the proform r, which is identical to the 750r which I have, and it was only $399

Got the same one and using it with the iFit subscription. Having experienced (some Olympic) rowers guide you through various exercise regimes, often set in scenic locations, do indeed make a dreary part of training quite bearable.
