Cheers for tuning in guys - its going to take a few episodes before Nathan & I are really in to the swing of these bass demos, so please feel free to put some constructive criticism in the comments section!! You should be able to find a new All About the Bass video every Tuesday morning from now on. Cheers, Lee

+CaptAnderton A great first video and the only thing I would change would be the structure of the video. Maybe have a quick run down of the features such as body wood, neck profile, number of frets, pick ups, finishers, string options (4 or 5), circuitry and price before doing an in depth demo of some of these features. I would also love to see you demo a Rickenbacker 4003 as it's my go to bass and I love both of mine

+CaptAnderton Finally! I love watching you and Chappers but as a bassplayer missed something bass oriented. You got off to a good start, I can only assume that with Nathan getting more comfortable doing reviews we've a lot of great stuff to look forward to. Keep it up! Cheers. PS don't forget to throw in the odd joke!

I've owned 3 Ibanez basses. LOVE THEM!!!! Slim sexy neck that's rocket fast, stays in tune, play flawlessly and are so light you can gig all night without a backache. I've also had a Padulla, got a Fender Jass fretless and an SR1400 and they all have wonderful characteristics. Go get one and see.

Yay. Its about damn time. Luv to the bassists! One more reason to watch your channel.
Request for future vids: anything from Orange, GK, Ashdown. 5 and 6 strings, perhaps. Signature basses like the Yamaha Billy Sheehan Attitude 3.
Hitting it out of the park, guys. Well done!

I recently picked up the bass after playing guitar for a few years. So i now skrt kf combine both. I remember when preparing to buy my first bass I was surprised by the lack of good quality bass stuff demos on the Ol' youtubes, especially shen comlared to the overflow of guitar stuff i was used to. So Andertons bringing out some bass demos is great news indeed!

Sometimes it could be "All About the Top-Shelf Bass" with some fairly high-end gear like Stingrays (the new neck thru), Fenders, Ric, Gibson... the "original classics".... or even Lakland, Sadowski, Fodera, Alembic, etc. Even an episode on flatwound vs roundwound vs nickel vs stainless strings. How about "To Compress or not To Compress"... where in the chain... after bass, in loop... and with what... pedal, rack unit? Fanned frets? Ibanez has some affordable ones now. Lots of exciting areas in bass to demonstrate and discuss. Been waiting for a series like this. GO FOR IT Capt.

Nice! I bought my first ever bass a few weeks ago-a used Ibanez SR300F "Fretless"-after playing strictly guitar for years.
Paired it with a new Fender Rumble 40 for playing at home.
Having so much fun learning the bass-playing techniques and expanding my musical horizons. It's fretless but has fret markers, so it's been a welcome challenge.
+CaptAnderton I highly recommend buying a bass and trying it for yourself; I should have done years ago. I'm not a shredder but I've picked up basic bass techniques quite steadily. Very satisfying instrument.
Incidentally, the first song I am learning (I have about 80% of it down) is FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS (Metallica) and my bass sounds great with some gain & drive (from the Rumble 40). Second favourite song to play along with is "Killing In The Name Of" (by Rage Against The Machine, a band I don't own anything from or even listen to). Sounds great playing along to metal with so many tone options \m/ \m/
re: the "feel" of the bass, that's exactly why I fell in love with it. I tried various Fenders (Jazz, Precision) and an Epiphone and a much more expensive Spector, but the Ibanez was love at first feel.

I have had mine for over 30 years now. Still my #1 go-to. Best metal base ever. That super thin neck at the nut is just made for speed. Benefit of active over passive: Recording you can cut rather than boost. Your engineer will 'preciate it.
Also If you have ever setup for a gig and as you power up and sound check you find that the room is susceptible to a certain note that just makes it buzz horribly? Being able to cut the bottom end (sculpt the sound wave)/mids/ whatever to make it go away. Brilliance on Ibanez engineers.
No that bass is not for whisky hall bands. Too much of a precision, almost classical instrument
