...So yeah this is what happened when I tried to make THAT beautifully webbed Valentino dress. I don't know how they got the webs on Zendaya's dress.
maybe the dresses' parents were siblings.

I just wanna say Micarah, even though most of us probably won't make the outfits you do, you definitely made me believe that I can actually sew. I've wanted to learn for a long time, but it always seemed so confusing. The way you do it in your videos let me see it in a practical way that was way easier for my mind to understand. I've gone to school for tailoring and like...it's really about what gets the job done. there are thousands of ways to sew things and to make them, and none of them are actually wrong, as long as the thing stays on in a way that you're satisfied with, it's good enough.
I know how to draft a pattern, but if taking apart an old fitting shirt and using that to cut the next one I want to make works, I will always do that. because it gets the job done and it's so much faster anyway.
my only proper tip for sewing is to be patient. and also to be nice to your sewing machine, it needs to be cleaned way more than you think. (also needles are important, it can really make or break a seam depending on what needle you use, and okay I'll shut up now.)

When I was young girl back in the 70's, my mom bought this new fangled Kenmore Sewing machine from Sears w all the bells & whistles. It had cams/cogs you'd swap out for various stitches & many crazy looking pressure feet. Her purchase entitled her to dozens of free sewing lessons, which she took full advantage of, dragging me along to every lesson. I loved going bcuz they had lemonade & mountains of cookies, plus I could stroll around the room & watch all these happy women with their new sewing machines. What I didn't realize, was my young brain was soaking up lotsa info during those lessons. Mom let me practice on her machine. She wasn't one of those "get away you'll break it" moms. Then in my early 20's I followed Mom's lead & purchased the latest Kenmore Sewing Machine, no cogs 😆 it's digital. I started w easier projects, but eventually made all my daughters pjs, diaper bags, handbags, fancy girl's dresses & cute blouses. The most cherished thing about my sewing tho, are my wonderful memories of Mom taking me with her to her sewing classes. In turn, I taught my 3 daughters to sew & crochet. You're truly gifted & creative & some day you'll hand down your knowledge. For now, it's really beautiful that you share your gift w everyone here!
I just bought a Singer 431G from the early 60s - sounds very similar to what you're describing. You gotta put in black plastic discs, if you want to sew more complicated stitches. Never seen anything like it before. I actually didn't even know, there existed a whole class of machines between the old straight/zickzack machines and modern ones.
I've been sewing on a high end, computerized Pfaff for 15 years (it finally died on me) and I was curious, how these old machines compare.
Not sure, if I will stick with it, but it's fun to experiment with, while I save up for a new one.

This turned out so good. I already have a mesh spiderweb fabric and assumed you'd just pick something like that at the store. Instead, you DIY and I love how that makes it so unique (and of course closer to Zendaya's). Will definitely keep this method in mind.
