Very very impressed that you were then able to actually reassemble it, as well as track down the problems and figure out the issues with incorrect parts from VW, and the software recalibration. this is the best video on this issue I've seen in a while I have a 2012 Passat but I can tell it's the same type of issue and seeing the amount of labor involved to pull the entire dash out I'm not paying $1,000 to have this done but I kick where the actuator is and I'm able to get some heat on my driver side which is wonderful for winter in upstate New York thank you for this very informative video
Hello - thank you for posting this video. I have a 2017 VW Passat. I am not getting any airflow through the center vents (above the nav screen) or the floor vents on either side. No matter which mode I select or Auto, airflow only comes through windshield vents and side vents. I did the climate system reset (hold down front mode and A/C buttons), and that did not fix it. Any idea if this issue sounds like it is related to one of the actuators you referenced here? Which one? Thank you.
I have a 2016 Passat with the exact same problem-sides and defrost only. I replaced the temperature blend door actuator about a year ago. It's frustrating how easily these actuators fail and how difficult they are to replace.
Is there a relay that controls that actuator? I have an intermittent issue where the airflow drops after an hour or so or driving and goes back to normal after car sleeps for a while
I have just bought a 2016 used volkswagen passat R Line with the same issue of the middle AC vent not working, is it going to take the process of removing the dashboard to get this fixed
Question I have a 2012 VW CC 2.0 sport , every time I turn my A/c on to like 1-4 it makes this weird noises by the front vents how do I get rid of that ? Plus my ac not blowing cold air
I have a 2012 vw Passat and the air doesn't come out at all from 1 through 6 but everything else works and there is no check engine do u think it's the compressor it makes a clicking sound when I turn the nob if there is any advice u can give me I'd appreciate it
Yes, it is and the actuators I've seen are not made in China. Rather in Hungary, Poland (Valeo ones) or Switzerland (Denso). Plus: the actuator change does not require coding. You can trigger basic settings from the a/c panel. Just Google better instructions than this!
Thank you so much I've been looking for about a year now. We have the same problems with our golf so this also works with an Mk7 golf could you put that in the description please I think it would help other people too :)
Hi, thanks for posting.....my issue no right heat control, but VCDS (RossTech) gives back an "all clear" when running the control motors from end stops to rehome.....worry that something on right side temp control is binding?...sounds like only couple items need the whole dash out......OK there are 8 control motors mentioned in VW Maintenance manual for HVAC; and the first 6 do not specify full dash removal. The 2 who require full dash removal are Front Air Distribution Motor (here OP had no air flow in center, makes sense) and the Air Distribution Door Motor (seems to be another motor works with the Front?) > these two are basically under the dash and mounted directly to the main HVAC box.....rest of them need partial disassembly of portions of center console, portions of footwell, glove box, etc > think my only issue is don't get "hot" air on Right side, but flows all change correctly....so I am going with Right Side Temp Control to start. Highly recommend you all pay the 24 hour fee for erWin and input your VIN and download every .pdf that VW says applies to your vehicle (it is a lot! TSBs, maintenance and repair manual, new vehicle in-service, training materials, yeah lot of stuff in there).....service manuals are only online now for VWAG. Cheers! Since these buggers are failing a bit now (mine is 2014 Passat SE)....will try to video how it goes, I am not interested to remove the whole dash if I don't need to!
@@zacharyblum9862 Hi, I ran VCDS and found the blend door actuator is moving fine (VCDS shows the motor encoder set-point at Cold and Hot stop position, then you can move the motor and it will tell you where it is, at both Cold and Hot I was at the stops correctly) > other UA-cam video lead me to believe is totally different issue! When I turn fan on higher the heat even at driver side becomes LESS > so, it is actually more likely the heater core is clogging. Hoping you are still monitoring this. I have a 2014 Passat TDI SEL (has dual zone automatic climate) with a temp issue (not the heater core). I noticed my passenger side doesn't match the driver's. Sometimes it's cold when I want heat and sometimes it's hot when I want AC. And other times it works as it should. Example today, 79* outside, driver's side is ice cold with AC as well as the left vent in the center. Right center vent and passenger is blowing hot air. From my understanding there is a blend door for the driver's temp and a blend door for the passenger side but I didn't see you comment on the passenger side temp door. I'm trying to figure out if this is one I have to pull the dash to replace and where it is located. I saw your driver's one as well as the recirc and the upper left center for the direction (defrost, face, floor). I'm trying to avoid taking this to a mechanic and would attempt to do this myself based on the UA-cam videos I've watched. However I still don't know the location of this particular door to fix my passenger temp control.

Ya the resistance in the motors linkage is actually pretty tough. Maybe rotate the control knob while you're doing it and it will ease up. Other than that do not know
