  • Instructional segments from an adult jujitsu class at the Jukido Academy in Palm Coast, Florida. Rego Sensei goes over applications for deashi barai (okuri ashi barai), o-uchi gari, and eventually Ippon Seoinage. The applications are for formal practice and applications in self-defense for students of various levels of training experience.
The Jukido style of jujitsu emphasizes the art as a complete system of self-defense as opposed to a form that has elected to hyper-specialize to conform to the rulesets of the many sport forms of jujitsu. Rather, the emphasis is always on the application jujutsu techniques (striking, throwing, grappling, etc.) for effective practical self-defense while cultivating the quality of character highlighted in authentic martial arts.
Jukido Academy is Flagler County's longest running school of self-defense. Established in Palm Coast, Florida in 1999. The head instructor or sensei is Master George Rego, 5th dan.

Sensei Rego, I just wanted you to know I greatly appreciate you putting these videos up on UA-cam. I've commented before on a video or 2, & likely mentioned that I took Jukido over 20yrs ago (to the level of probationary Shodan, under Sensei Mike Lewenczuk out of Western MA- whom, as you know, no longer teaches). Your videos just bring me back to those days (basically my entire 'tweens & adolescence, lol). If I ever make it to your part of FL, I will make it a point to stop by your dojo! I actually think I remember you being at the 3rd/final test for black belt/Shodan, which was taken at the late Shihan Ariel's studio in S Windsor CT (? Not 100% sure of the location), on 3/31/96-- there were LOTS of Kokondo-ka there, many testing for advanced dan degrees. I know I ran in to you at some point in my "Jukido career," but obviously many, many years ago. Thank you again for posting these!

Thank you very much for your kind words regarding the videos on our dojo UA-cam channel. We're trying hard to ensure that we are contributing to both the education of our Jukidoka and providing a "public demonstration" of our art in these times were demonstrations to the public aren't always limited to a "show" format with an audience in the flesh. Based on your dates and description, it sounds both accurate and likely that we crossed paths in those early days. You are welcome to visit the our Palm Coast, Florida dojo at any point. Thank you again for the positive feedback. Enjoy future videos to come! Ossu!
