Hi Samox, you can make the object invisible in the render but selecting the object, going to the properties panel, selecting its VRay properties and turning off the visible tick box
Hello. Have you maybe tried the opposite type of distance mapping, so that the grass is only placed away from the object? I mostly work with meters and when I try to do so, the distance specified seems not to work. It might just be the global scaling option of fur, since some huge numbers like 100 still make an empty patch of grass around the selected object, but it seems like 10 times smaller than the specified 100. Is there a way to make the density of grass in your example more gradual, not with so sharp edge? My first thought would be to place a texture in distance map, but that does not work at all. Thank you for your time. Cheers
Do you know a way to do a zebra crossing with cubes and distance map? a lot of tutorials for 3dmax but with the exception that it need to turn invisible the objects (cubes that make the zebra crossing) in render but not in the scene! i think there are no way of doing that in rhino and sketchup version
Hi Nuno, when using VRay you can make objects invisible in the render by selecting the object, going to the properties window and under Vray properties you can make certain objects invisble to the render by still visible within the model
Hi Tom love your videos. Do you know of a way to make v-ray trees or better yet just the leaves transparent so they don’t hide the building behind them? I haven’t found a way to do it directly in vray. Maybe there’s a way to do it with some clever layer manipulation in photoshop but I haven’t been able to figure it out. Thanks
@@brendancook3192 have You tried? i have many times and it works for materials like candles, leaves, or lighting covers. it will be shine trough those materials.
Excited for the parametric use cases here for landscape design!
the issue that you cannot hide the sphere otherwise the effect will disappear ? ... of course you can use a small point or so ... but is it the way?

Hi Tom, another excellent video. Can all of the Vray principles be applied to the Rhino 7 renderer?
It can't seem to be working with Scatters, only on Fur for some reason.
same i cant get it to work

Hi Tom, could You make also dirt shader tutorial?
Thanks for the comment, yes I've actually got one in the works!

You need to add transculency
@@JahKubRu1 doesn’t that just let light shine through? I want to change the actual opacity not just translucency
