  • I wanted to see how much luggage I could get in to the back of my Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle so I borrowed a set of luggage and combined it with my own to give it a test. I thought I'd share the results of the test with you all.

I thought of getting this Samte Fe PHEV but it's too big, theres only me and my wife no kids. We ended up getting the RAV4 Prime XSE perfect size for our needs. The Samte Fe is a great SUV btw if you have a family.

To replace my Sportage, this SUV seems to have the perfect balance of everything I need (and none of what I don't - such as a small third row), except the tow rating is too low. I might consider the turbo to get the 3500 lbs of towing capability. Also since I live in Canada and have a really short commute, the engine would be on to warm itself up every day anyway. Plus I live far from any cities, so the battery would be depleted for most of those drives too. Once day, we'll replace my wife's Niro hybrid, possibly with an EV or PHEV, but only really need a small car.

Not related to luggage, but when you remote start the car, is it able to run the heat right away? Idk if you live in a cold climate but that’s one thing I’m really hoping the plug-in can do.

I live in the desert and haven't had to run the heat much at all. I usually turn on the heated seats and steering wheel and that's about all I need here.

    Hi, thanks for the video.
Question, does it has a spare tire?
How's the fuel economy when battery depleted?
How longs does it takes to charge?

It has a full sized spare, and it gets about 32mpg without a charge (running around). We plug in to a regular household outlet when we get home from work and it charges overnight.

I got my Santa Fe plug-in hybrid limited last month but since day one the brakes and motor are making a loud noise at any speed. Is your Santa fe having the same issue??? Thanks for your help
