    That's an amazing explanation ! I've had trouble with the simple rule 9, and I think my footwork was wrong during the transition. I appreciate the time you took to put this video together !

      Thank you very much! Figueiredo didn't explain much in his rules, so there are plenty of possibilities how to execute the rules. If you find one that works best for you, go for it👍

      @@A_Medieval_Shadow Honestly ? The more I practiced them, the more they seemed like an explanation in itself. Just the very first rule feels like a declaration of "This is how a greatsword operate. This is not a longsword, this is not an halberd, it's a greatsword. Use it like one".
      And each rule seemed like a new lesson, I kinda liked that. Thanks a lot for the encouragement !

      @@shawnclifford362 I'll be damned, this is awesome. The wavy blade is able to bind Spearshafts more easily since they can fit into the spaces in the blade. Swordsblades also do bind a little bit more.
      It is a nimble, easy to wield blade and I had nearly no exhaustion from wielding it. Just from footwork.
      The blade is pretty stiff, so no wobbling or bending around while swinging. It has a beautiful, highpitched sound when it hits metal and I see very little damage so far. Just scratches and little, tiny nicks.

      @@A_Medieval_Shadow Greetings and salutations, Shadow. Excellent, great to hear. Yes, I've seen as well as heard talk about noodle blades and the disappointment there of. From what I could see, structurally sound and well proportioned sword. Spears are a pain aren't they 😆, the shaft binding is cool asset.. thanks for responding Amigo. Slan go foill ☘️

    god i would love to do some montante sparring

    • @A_Medieval_Shadow
      @A_Medieval_Shadow  Рік тому +2

      It is doable, if you and your friends start slowly first. Keep it safe with gloves and a helmet or hema headpieces. The more armor, the better it is but you can do it with lowgear too if you both spar safely.
      The biggest drawback (unintended Pun) is that you mistly gave to hold back with the force. Sure, A full commited strike can beat every smaller weapon aside and still hit the person wielding it; but this is too unsafe if you don't have a full buhurt Kit amd the neck of a Bull.
      But try it out, experiment on it. It is very cool

    Nice flamberge. How does it's weight compare with your previous sword?

    • @A_Medieval_Shadow
      @A_Medieval_Shadow  Рік тому +3

      Hi! My new Flamberge is 182cm long and weighs 3,5kg which maked it surprisingly livelier and it feels like it is lighter than my old one. The distal taper on the Flamberge is well done and do a good job on the overall balance. My old one is on the base of the blade as thick as on the tip which gives it a hunkier feeling.
      So I think this is why the Flamberge did cost 800euro and the straight Sword only 380euro.

      Och eine Grundfitness ist immer notwendig wenn man Sport betreibt. Was ich aber sagen muss ist dass man langsam anfängt um an den richtigen Muskelgruppen ganz allmählich Wachstum zu erzeugen damit diese deinen Bewegungsapparat beim Zweihänder unterstützen. Der Rest ist Ausdauer, also ist einiges an Cardio notwendig.

    Since you're already in a narrow street why not just half sword and keep thrusting, keeping attackers at bay since having a zweihander you probably have the reach advantage,

    • @A_Medieval_Shadow
      @A_Medieval_Shadow  6 місяців тому +2

      Because I show here One technique (Regla) from a manuscript that it not easy to understand for people who try to figure out Figueiredo and his Reglas. They are not the best, and not the worst. They simply teach Movement-pattern like Katas in Asia to mantain mobility and give an idea what one can do in certain situations.
      Other than that: You are free to choose whatever it takes to survive the scenario with techniques you trained before like going into halfswording. If you feel safe using it surrounded from two sides and you manage to break through one side or defeat both then go for it👍
      Even Figueiredo and Godinho encourage you to go away from the reglas when the situation demands it.

    • @A_Medieval_Shadow
      @A_Medieval_Shadow  6 місяців тому +1

      I forgot to mention: There is also a regla like you described here😀

    • @AEdHR
      @AEdHR 6 місяців тому

      @@A_Medieval_Shadow yeah I just figured I'd mention it since to me it would be your best bet in that situation. Both parties would have trouble moving around each other so, since it would be hard for them move around your thrust and you would have the reach advantage. And I mentioned half swording because that way you could have more leverage for trying to parry, even with the tip of the sword I think, since they would need to move more mass to try to "push" your parry away cause you're holding a heavier sword and more firmly. And about trying to push through one side of the street right away, that would be your best bet too I think, try to even the odds by taking out someone quickly and taking the initiative.
