  • An exclusive drone film of six amazing stone circles in Aberdeenshire. There are over 150 recumbent stone circles in this area, but there were once many more. Built high up with a clear southern horizon, the main features are the massive recumbent blocks, often up to 60 tons, that were oriented to the south-west. Two upright ‘flankers’ sit either side creating a horizontal ‘altar’. Opposite, the smallest stone in the circle would be positioned, with the others graded towards the south-west. They range from 60ft to 80ft wide. At 57 degrees latitude the Moon often rolls across the landscape, and this false horizon was part of their lunar observation kit. Some circles didn’t fit this astronomical scheme, and may have been in honour of the earliest circles, that date back to between 2,700 - 2,000 BC. Some were burial sites with cairns often within the ring. Easter Aquhorthies is a restored site and the recumbent is bright pink granite with quartz streaks. Midmar Kirk is now in a churchyard, and many others are hidden in fields with crops!

Wonderful. Thank you. And great to see the authorities looking after their heritage so well. More of that is needed across the UK.

Your channel so inspired me with stone circles, I placed my own stones in circle formation, including a stone that looks like a Easter Island head. Of course these stones were placed under a majestic Oak tree. Expanding Knowledge 🌎

I shared this with my daughter. We were planning a trip to Scotland this spring. Obviously we had to delay the trip. Love the views and can't wait to reschedule!

The ancients would dance around the circle...chanting all night.
At first light the priest would call down fire from the cosmos igniting a wood pile on the horizontal stone slab.

@@noname-by3qz They knew the power/influence of Shadows.
When you look again at the stones , the land lay out.
Above all, they understood ""love"", the Love manifestation of the Cosmos.
Grace Cooke speaks about this in her books too....Stone Henge.💥

I noticed that nearly all had two stones with a rock between them. This reminded me of the fangs of a snake. Now if one were to bring his heel straight down with the foot angled up, it would leave a circle impression. Thus what we are seeing is the head of the snake being crushed into the ground after biting the seed of man.

The area is well known for Amanita Muscaria shrooms since as far back as forever.exported to.. well..I'm thinking these places were built to have certain experiences using shrooms..like West Kennet it's alive on them. Deep visions...in circles completely different experience ...

Moon circles ,the recumbent stone = femininity and fertility related to the setting of moon, on certain points.
The deiseil stones in Scotland, those facing southward,or towards the Sun cycle, are more masculine
Various LIGHT, sun ,moon, time of the year,is more important in Scotland, especially in midwinter, when it gets really dark and dreary.Let there be LIGHT.
