About the Author
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Pete Candler is a writer, photographer, and filmmaker whose work has appeared in Los Angeles Review of Books, Bitter Southerner, Washington Post, and elsewhere. He lives in Asheville, North Carolina.
About the Conversation Partner
John T. Edge of Oxford, Mississippi, hosts the SEC Network and Hulu television show TrueSouth and serves Garden & Gun as a columnist. Twice winner of the MFK Fisher Distinguished Writing Award, he wrote The Potlikker Papers: A Food History of the Modern South. Winner of the 2018 nonfiction prize from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters, Edge was elected to the Georgia Writer’s Hall of Fame in 2019. Edge teaches narrative nonfiction in the low-residency MFA program at the University of Georgia. Founding Director of the Southern Foodways Alliance, he directs the Mississippi Lab and serves as writer-in-residence for the Department of Writing and Rhetoric - all at the University of Mississippi.
