I just finished the book and it was so different from anything. It's a beautiful book and such a heartbreaking story, bittersweet and though elements are whimsical and in parts terrifying the realism makes you feel it all, draws you in to the, paranormal and fantasy aspects of it and it all meshes together brilliantly

i have read thousands of books in my eighty years of life, willy vlautin is a great writer, you have to read them slowly and savour them, the poor downtrodden people who still try to be good to help others. it makes my heart sing. i have found one by chance on a sales table for damaged books in germany and immediately ordered all of them. the night always comes i have not yet but will get it. dear willy vlautin thank you

Over 20 years ago, I wrote my dissertation about the history of the "roman noir" in France, starting with a writer named Léo Malet, the first to take the American hardboiled style and place it into a French setting. In the "classic" style of the who-dunnit, the detective spends the entire novel trying to solve a murder that happened in the first chapter -- think Sherlock Holmes or Inspector Poirot. But in the noir, the murder in chapter 1 leads to more murders throughout the novel. It's a grittier depiction as well; the detective challenges the authority of the police, and embraces the vices of the city (almost always a city). Detective novels, as well as procedurals on TV, do well because these are crimes that are solved, unlike in real life. And in a noir, the murderer often gets "what's coming to them" (as my grandmother would have said); there's no legal technicality or plea bargain. Anyway, it's not surprising that Chris and Michael's books are popular in France! They're great stories with authentic voices. And thanks, Square Books, for posting this online.

🙏🙏🙏 Why aren't your video views increasing? And not reaching people? The reason is 1. Your video is not being SEO properly 2. Your video is not reaching the right people 3. Not using video hashtags properly 4. Not sharing the video on social media There are a few more reasons. That's why your videos are limited to your channel. Can't get out In a word, your video is awesome. such videos are in great demand. If you do these things correctly. Hopefully you will get a lot of visitors. What a shame that the beautiful dust jacket for GROUNDSKEEPING is ruined by having a printed "Read with Jenna" logo. Why can't the logo be detachable? Why can't there be an option to purchase the book without the logo? It must drive the designer of the book dust jacket up the proverbial wall.

I was blown away by how brilliant "The Fighter" was and is. I read "Blackwood" a few months ago. It was stunning in its own manner. Smith is hell on wheels! The Fighter is somewhat akin to Suttree by McCarthy; a journey of the mad and the haunted through tornadoes and hurricanes, and with the grit to carry on, against the odds. It reminded of everything I love about Nelson Algren. He shows the grace that visits the hopeless and disenchanted. It also compares the with the madcap characters of William Gay. Blackwood is another beast altogether. Spooky like the horror/gothic of William Gay (The Long Home), early Tennessee era McCarthy (Outer Dark), and Flannery O'Connor (The Violent bear it Away). Two different genres and types of books, two incredible triumphs! To say I am excited about this is a preposterous understatement. It also is a strikingly disparate foray, and, based on everything else I have read, I have no doubt it, too, will be superlative. It's a ballsy move, in many ways; tackling Fitzgerald and Gatsby is like dancing on Everest- it is a precarious endeavor but to succeed at it is a singular feat! He's a contemporary author that more people should read and know. He is deserving of any and all accolades.

Thank you Mr. Grisham for taking us all back to Clanton where we got to visit our friends and favorite characters ( I ❤️ that Harry Rex!). Your characters speak volumes to me and I’ve already written in my head the sequel to A Time for Mercy! I call it A Time for Justice and it would blow your fans mind! You give me just one hour with you to spill my thoughts and I can have you 4 books in the making ! 😂 I’ve ordered my signed copy of A Time for Mercy- Thank you square bookstore! I can’t wait to get it! Thank you Mr. Grisham for such brilliant writing and introducing us to some amazing characters.

This is such an awesome series of books! I am a big fan of John Grisham and especially the Jake Brigance stories! I think that only Matthew McConaughy could play the part of Jake Brigance and as well as the cast of actors from A Time To Kill! They just fit the characters of the books so well. I can't wait for the movies for Sycamore Row and A Time For Mercy are made I hope the same actors will portray the characters. The movies will be so awesome. J G is a brilliant author!
