    There is an easier way to insert the inserts if you just attach them first with the band and then close the insert and slide it under the elastic band connected to the TN and they fit more comfortably and you can add even more that way. Hope that’s helpful! Love the way you decorate your journals.. your use of nature and simple color schemes is lovely.

    🤗 I just purchased a faux leather traveller’s notebook from Michaels. It’s part of their recollections line. It was $14.99 and came with two blank page inserts and a Manila folder. I was able to use a 50% coupon. Their other inserts ranged from 3.99 to $10

    • @ej3016
      @ej3016 6 років тому +2

      Mel Dempsey am starting my journey with TNs from Michael’s as well - want to make sure TNs are for me before investing in more expensive products - with those great 40 or 50% off coupons - the Michael’s products are incredibly affordable

    • @endlessstudent
      @endlessstudent 5 років тому +3

      Also at Micheals you can get a beautiful piece of thick leather, 8.5 x11 in. With a coupon you pay $10 or so. Cut it to size and you have a midori cover. :)

    • @aquariaaustin2077
      @aquariaaustin2077 5 років тому +2

      And they're ripoff junk. The Midori is the real deal. I'm poor, and I still refused to settle for second rate junk, when I could get the real thing that I know will last. If it wasn't for me, I could always sell it.
      I have the regular size and the Passport, which is now effectively my wallet as well. I got rid of my old wallet (a Vuitton my mother gave me), and just use the Midori now. Makes my life so much easier, and a whole lot fewer worries abut someone robbing me for the LV even more than for anything inside it.

    I got park of my birthday present last March through Adventure Journals, she has very good prices & packaged my stuff up beautifully. Great stay shop & enjoyed your video too! I prefer to carry fewer inserts at a time because once they get filled up they expand but it's a terrific journaling system & so customizable. I love it, been using it for about 3 years now.

      What's wrong and how should it have been done?

    • @carolarol
      @carolarol 5 років тому +7

      @@corks4120 The inserts are inserted weirdly. Most people take two booklets and attach them with the spare elastic before putting them in the elastic on the cover. That way makes sure that they are securely in the cover and nothing is going to fall out. There is no wrong way to do it, but there is a reason that this method is the popular way to do it. You can see at 5:03 she tucks the booklets further into the elastic. That is because over time they are likely gonna slide out.

      Yes if she would’ve taken 2 seconds to look at how to add elastics it would’ve been better. Now there are people out there watching this and using this method which is actually wasting elastic and the amount of inserts you could add. It’s so simple to add two inserts to an elastic and sliding it under the existing insert. To add more there’s amazing videos where one woman fit 9 inserts in her 1 insert TN. She has the best video I’ve seen so far on how to add inserts

I was under the impression that washi tape was thinner and more see-through like yours. Mine is the Scotch brand. Are there differences in washi tape/manufacturers? Thank you for any advice on this.

    • @humayrahc7914
      @humayrahc7914 6 років тому +2

      SonshineLady yeah there is, scotch is more of an actual tape brand so it would be, tbh I don’t think they understand the concept of Washi tape, it’s more of a decorated tape. I recommend getting it from the dollar/pound shop or a craft store. Or even ordering it online since they’re more thinner and also tend to be cheaper.

    So not the way to use the elastic bands. If you want your notebooks to stay together, open easily and look neater it’s best to use the recommended method. The notebook elastic should always be in the centre of your books and the elastic bands should not go over the outside! A little disappointing to see a ‘tutorial’ style post without a clue.

      and in most cases you won't be able to find out if this leather is from an animal which died because of a natural reason or because someone killed it. that's why I want to find an alternativ ^^

      There are a number of traveler’s notebooks made with faux leather or canvas covers. I’ve found vinyl ones at Michaels and have seen both faux leather and canvas covers online. I am planning to make a few of my own covers, as well as inserts, very soon. I like the idea of using recycled materials (vinyl, denim, etc.) or using primed art canvas so that I can illustrate my own cover . There really are numerous options when you make your own!
      Also, if you search DIY fauxdori on UA-cam, it will bring up tutorials for making your own. Be aware though that “Fauxdori” simply means a handcrafted alternative to a Midori TN, so any material could be used to make the cover, including leather. Before buying one, you’ll want to confirm that the cover is not made using leather, animal glues, etc. You can also do a web search for faux, vegan or canvas traveler’s notebooks and you should find several options. The same goes for a search on Etsy.
      No animal needs to be exploited or slaughtered for our art or journaling efforts! Good luck. :)
