Susanna, 61, I can totally relate because I'm 2 days younger than you (I was born in Berkeley on January 19, 1959) and now, I realize why you age so well. It's your attitude. Very difficult to believe Susanna Hoffs is 61. Not that that’s old, but she looks fantastic. Not just for her age but she doesn’t look really much different than when she was in The Bangles. They are from a time when you needed to know how to sing and play musical instruments to be called a singer. This is a great talk. I never realized John Taylor is a cool guy. Duran Duran was an exciting new wave pop band , they were a huge part in the feeling of the 80's especially the early 80's. I was a young teenager back then. The 80's were awesome. There was always a new great song every week and very diverse from pop to heavy metal and everything in between. I was a young teenager in the early 80's and grew up through the decade. Everything moved so fast and up and all the 80's fashion, then next thing you know by the end of it I was in my twenties. What an amazing time. I relate to them talking about being moved by listening to bass lines in songs. I too would always notice the bass when listening to a song, i especially noticed it with the Beatles. The bass really hit me when i first heard Paul McCartney playing bass with Wings when i would hear songs like Band on the Run , Uncle Admiral Halsey or Silly Love Songs on the car radio a young kid.

Great interview! I was pre-Med at UC Davis at the same time SH was at Cal. Campus radio KDVS is credited as roots for the soon-to-be "Paisley Underground" movement. Coincidentally, the radio station and Zapple Records were both literally underground. Great live music times!!! Tours from Ramones, E. Costello, Police, Joe Jackson, Devo, B-52's, English Beat, Specials, T-Heads and more came to the intimate Coffee House venue on campus. Road trips to Fondue Fred's in Berkeley too...
