I just wanted to talk about some of my homemade instruments today. These were all made in our woodshop, two of them made by my dad and two of them were ones that I helped with.
The part that holds the tines on the kalimba is not from a toilet, but from an electrical breaker box. It is the ground/neutral bar for bonding multiple grounds/neutral wires. Awesome all th same.
seems like youd want softer mallets for your xylophone if youd like to reduce the clack of the mallet hiting the wood. may also help to suspend the tubes on some string to that they have more wiggle room to resonate
