a circus gym is so genius, they can appear in any game, they can switch up aesthetics and types, you can bring back characters and introduce new ones, all while satisfying game freak’s obsession with requiring an in game explination for everything

@@luniers4629 Definitly, but if I feel like if humans were given actual types, stats and abilities, humans who live in different areas and climates could change type to adapt. After all if humans are known for something, it's their adaptability. But humans have grown to consider themselves separate from and even superior to Pokémon. The average human nowadays probably doesn't know they have a type the way Pokémon do, and most of are Normal since they live in urban areas.
@@elo2coon434 Yes Coco. And I love this because Coco is one of the few humans who's still close to his nature as a Pokémon, and to Nature in general. And by being this way, he manages to uncover the true potential of humans. I mean think about it, he managed to use another Pokémon's signature ability, something that only this Pokémon is supposed to be able to use. This shows that the humans' ability to adapt to their surroundings is really impressive, but by living in the human society (which is controlled by horrible hypocrites, may I add), they stay unaware of their incredible potential during their entire lives.
I love that Aloe and Apollo both have moth Pokemon. Moths have historically been associated with death, so their motivations are directly in their teams: death and rebirth. It also shows that the memory of their lost family stays with them.
For real, I wish they talked about this more! Especially the symbolism behind having a Phoenix pokemon on is team. But yes the fire/bug + ice/bug combo from a father-daughter gym leader duo is one of the most adorable things i've seen
Really like Clowndle and Fierrot! Juggler does have an equivalent ability in-game already, called Skill Link - the Cloyster, Ambipom, Cinccino and Toucannon lines get it, as well as Mega Heracross - but I think this is one of the cases where making a new ability that's just renaming an existing ability works brilliantly. (Potential Pointy Hat Pokémon side channel in the future?)
Fun thing with Okapypaste is that real Okapis are actually relatives of the giraffe. So having it take inspiration from beta Girafarig is very fitting.
I love this series, but this one was on a whole other level. Amazing concepts and awesome personalities on display. Pointy Hat illustrating the "peak male form" with a pointy hat is probably no accident, lol.
My idea for a gym leader would be a fairy type who's kinda a ditz. The puzzles before you challenge him are super easy to get through, and once you challenge him, his team is super unbalanced and his pokemon drop like flies. But then weird things start to happen during the battle. Your pokemon dont faint when their HP reaches zero, attacks that shouldn't be effective are now super effective. If you win, you get a badge, but later down the line, you're told that its actually a fake badge, and you have to go through the gym all over again. The correct option is to surrender during the fake battle, and once you do, the gym leader congratulates you for seeing through the illusion, explaining that everything up until now was just a facade. Your real gym battle starts, and he's much smarter and a much more formidable opponent. This embodies one of my favorite tropes, where characters obfuscate their competance and break it out when you least expect it, and fits my favorite type, Fairy, since fairies are known tricksters.
I picture Samson saying things like "It's heating up now" & "So this is the burning power of youth" & "This heat will be your downfall" & "BLAZE THROUGH BE THE LIGHT THAT MELTS THE DARK". Stuff along those lines & I love him...
I love how Vergo even considered what a stylized Okapypaste would look like in her like Avant-garde artstyle, could see that as art in an art show where you meet the gym leader in the story or decorating the gym
My head canon is that Clowndle is reckless and he’s so fast that they trips and gets upset, then evolves into Fierrot who has learned how to embrace their mistakes and turn them into strengths
We need a moxxie and pointy hat episode where they all get a simple prompt, but a second one where they have to go above and beyond the original prompt, for moxxie drawing 8 Pokémon, pointy hat drawing like 3 Pokémon and their trainers, etc. it seems cool

Okapis are my favorite animal. Ghost is my favorite type. Okapypaste made me squeal and then I couldn't close my mouth when the mega was revealed. Give me the Pokémon, give me the leader, give me it all. Absolutely fantastic!

Instead of thinking that Pointy Hat forgot about the ability Skill Link, I will see it as a purposeful nerf to Fierrot’s signature move that can burn on each hit
It would need something else though, otherwise it ends up in the same situation Mycelium Might is in. Maybe a slight damage boost if it only gets a 4 roll, just so it's not a randomly worse Skill Link sometimes
@@Heppiesmile Mycelium Might's upside is, slightly worse, Mold Breaker (for example: Mycelium Might can't sleep levitating Pokémon on electric terrain), which is the same problem with Juggler. Juggler doesn't have an active detriment, so Mycelium Might is overall still worse, but they share the same core problem of being worse versions of generic abilities. Juggler is, at best, sometimes on par with Skill Link
I think using skill link is less flavorful though, as it ensures 5 hits. Conversely, a Loaded dice effect’s inherent RNG means it is more chaotic and therefore more fitting for his fakemon’s design. As for balance, I would make it ensure 3-5 hits instead of 4-5; that would make it worth using, assuming you even choose to run multihit moves at all
28:52 I can imagine aloe riding a tall Aurorus or tending to an Amaura. Since both are ice types, fossils, and have a mother-and-child like bond, I think it would suit Aloe and maybe the way she was comforted after her mother’s death.

When I think pokemon based on a trope my brain put together "the grouchy old man and the sweet child", "the knower of all things" and "the bookworm" So I drew out Scolarpede, an old man centipede psychic/electric type with a monitor on its hind end so it can look up anything but is sick of helping others. And Scolarpede's parter Chihiro is a small but affectionate child who won't stop asking dumb questions

I think a fun prompt for a series like this would be "Speculative evolution", whether making Pokemon versions of speculative creatures already out there in media, what current day Pokemon could look like, with years upon years of evolution, or perhaps a combination of the two.

I've been loving the 4 artists series. But I often feel the trainers get neglected when fakemons and fan-regions are developed-- it is half the franchise after all! So seeing all those phenomenal designs and hearing their stories and meeting their their new pokemon is so cool! I hope this gets added to the rotation, I'd love to hear and see even more.
I'm really liking the Mulligan Troupe, and how it's made up of former evil team grunts. That could (and honestly should) be a series all in its own, possibly adding other characters to it.
This might be one of my favourite of your videos to date. Seeing Trainers and Pokémon designed intentionally, and thematically, to be intertwined together is one of my favourite aspects of each new generation and Fakemon creation as a whole! Everyone here did such a phenomenal job!
You guys did an absolute amazing job on the gym leaders. In recent years I started to admire the design of the human characters more the the Pokemon, cause I often felt like they had so much more to give. Their designs are always so interesting and unique, fitting so perfectly with their gyms and their Pokemon. And you four definitely continued this trend. I love all of them and want to see them in actual games. Also Pointy Hat absolutely achieved a much better version of Mr. Mime with his design! :D

Brilliant suggestion, Pointy Hat, you've certainly got a knack for ideas and an eye for detail; great work GinjaNinja, Apollo and Aloe are gorgeous; and Vergo, that Okapi concept is spectacular! I'm certainly in the geek squad that loves delving into the lore, concept teams and move pools, there's nothing like concept characters brought to life so beautifully presented and fully fleshed-out, you've all done yourselves proud and I look forward to seeing these outstanding characters again. If hes still making the Middle Eastern nation (iirc called Asone) it fits with pre-Islam Arabia which was basically a bunch of clans waring with eachother nearly constantly for dominance.
I love love love love how varied everyone's is and the themes flowing and connecting with each character in a neat bow. Love the father/daughter, dig the dark artists, and I especially ADORE the idea of a former grunt run circus in Paldea! I'd hapilly replay all the Gens they're added into if they were DLC!

Hands down, the best collab ever. Honestly, loved all the designs, especially Okapypaste (my favorite). But in ragrds to Minie - Okapypaste's trainer - I am contemplating between Okapie and Absol as the one to mega evolve. I understand that Okapie is Minie's ace, but Mega Absol imo represents the misunderstood beauty better. But Mega Okapie is soooo good. Glazing rn 😍
if the Mulligan troupe was official there'd be thousands of autists on Twitter making hundreds of terabytes worth of fan art & fan fics of them & I think that is the highest level of praise I could give to a set of character designs 👏 excellent work from everyone else, too!
Trugreen7, this was a wonderful video. All these new ideas were one of the best things I've seen today and I have to say out of all of them, Vergolophus' gym leader and ace is my favorite. 1, because dark types are my favorite kind of Pokémon (tied with psychic). And 2 is because the origin of the Pokémon, the designs of the gym leader and her art, and all the Kalos aspects of it all (being one of my favorite regions and mega evolution) made me fall in love with it. Plus, there should have been a dark type gym leader in the Kalos region.
I love that the fairy type pokemon is more fire type then one of the fire type gym leader’s ace. Love all the designs, June’s are probably some of my favorite pokemon human fan designs I’ve ever seen.

This has gotta be my newest favorite video you’ve done. Making new Pokémon is unique but it can be easy to make repeating concepts.. but the trainers make Pokémon what it is and it’s so fun to listen to this especially as someone who loves making characters myself
It’s stuff like this is the reason why I will ALWAYS be a fan of Pokémon romhacks and new Pokémon idea/concept videos. This was a fantastic video. I hope this inspires more Pokémon fan game creators to create new games with this level of detail/creativity.
so my Fakemon region has an okapi Fakemon that is a counterpart to Girafarig but this is SUCH a cooler concept, holy shit. I am mind-blown. And the name is incredible

You're pokemon and 4 artist videos have been really inspiring me for a while now, but character design is where my heart is at, and as someone trying to design Gym Leaders of my own, this was REALLY COOL, and as an avid @actuallyrea watcher, I'm spoiled for more of her designs. Everyone's stuff was so amazing and I love the shape language! Samson and Apollo are probably my favorite designs from this video!
I started brainstorming a gym leader during this video. You walk into the gym and are greeted by the 12-year-old Johnny. He has an upbeat demeanor and seems excited as he watches the challenger complete the puzzle. When the puzzle is completed, he flaps his hands and battles the challenger. He… isn’t the best at battling. Upon his defeat, he doesn’t give the challenger a badge; Johnny isn’t the gym leader, not really. He then throws up his arms and says, “Doe! Doe! We have a challenger!” Johnny falls backwards, twitches for a moment, and rises, visibly paler than he was a second ago. Turns out, Jonathan is a conduit for the ghost type gym leader, Doe, who is ironically a ghost. Doe explains as much, along with the fact they both like doing the whole possession routine; Johnny thinks it’s fun and Doe doesn’t mind too much. Upon his defeat, Doe give the challenger the Phantom Badge. It’s based on the creepy kid, benevolent abomination, and child befriending a monster tropes.
I love the sneakyness of the names! You wouldn't think anything of an NPC named Johnathan but then the twist of Doe being the real gym leader and actually being a ghost? Brilliant! That would be so COOL!

Instead of thinking that Pointy Hat forgot about the ability Skill Link, I will see it as a purposeful nerf to Fierrot’s signature move that can burn on each hit
It would need something else though, otherwise it ends up in the same situation Mycelium Might is in. Maybe a slight damage boost if it only gets a 4 roll, just so it's not a randomly worse Skill Link sometimes

@@Heppiesmile Mycelium Might's upside is, slightly worse, Mold Breaker (for example: Mycelium Might can't sleep levitating Pokémon on electric terrain), which is the same problem with Juggler. Juggler doesn't have an active detriment, so Mycelium Might is overall still worse, but they share the same core problem of being worse versions of generic abilities. Juggler is, at best, sometimes on par with Skill Link
I think using skill link is less flavorful though, as it ensures 5 hits. Conversely, a Loaded dice effect’s inherent RNG means it is more chaotic and therefore more fitting for his fakemon’s design. As for balance, I would make it ensure 3-5 hits instead of 4-5; that would make it worth using, assuming you even choose to run multihit moves at all
I feel that if Libero, a soccer-based Protean, exists, so can Juggling and Skill Link.

When I think pokemon based on a trope my brain put together "the grouchy old man and the sweet child", "the knower of all things" and "the bookworm"
So I drew out Scolarpede, an old man centipede psychic/electric type with a monitor on its hind end so it can look up anything but is sick of helping others. And Scolarpede's parter Chihiro is a small but affectionate child who won't stop asking dumb questions

4 artists is always gonna be hype no matter what the topic/challenge is
I've been loving the 4 artists series. But I often feel the trainers get neglected when fakemons and fan-regions are developed-- it is half the franchise after all! So seeing all those phenomenal designs and hearing their stories and meeting their their new pokemon is so cool! I hope this gets added to the rotation, I'd love to hear and see even more.

I'm really liking the Mulligan Troupe, and how it's made up of former evil team grunts. That could (and honestly should) be a series all in its own, possibly adding other characters to it.
This might be one of my favourite of your videos to date. Seeing Trainers and Pokémon designed intentionally, and thematically, to be intertwined together is one of my favourite aspects of each new generation and Fakemon creation as a whole! Everyone here did such a phenomenal job!
You guys did an absolute amazing job on the gym leaders. In recent years I started to admire the design of the human characters more the the Pokemon, cause I often felt like they had so much more to give. Their designs are always so interesting and unique, fitting so perfectly with their gyms and their Pokemon. And you four definitely continued this trend. I love all of them and want to see them in actual games.
Also Pointy Hat absolutely achieved a much better version of Mr. Mime with his design! :D

Hands down, the best collab ever. Honestly, loved all the designs, especially Okapypaste (my favorite). But in ragrds to Minie - Okapypaste's trainer - I am contemplating between Okapie and Absol as the one to mega evolve. I understand that Okapie is Minie's ace, but Mega Absol imo represents the misunderstood beauty better. But Mega Okapie is soooo good. Glazing rn 😍

Trugreen7, this was a wonderful video. All these new ideas were one of the best things I've seen today and I have to say out of all of them, Vergolophus' gym leader and ace is my favorite. 1, because dark types are my favorite kind of Pokémon (tied with psychic). And 2 is because the origin of the Pokémon, the designs of the gym leader and her art, and all the Kalos aspects of it all (being one of my favorite regions and mega evolution) made me fall in love with it. Plus, there should have been a dark type gym leader in the Kalos region.

This has gotta be my newest favorite video you’ve done. Making new Pokémon is unique but it can be easy to make repeating concepts.. but the trainers make Pokémon what it is and it’s so fun to listen to this especially as someone who loves making characters myself
It’s stuff like this is the reason why I will ALWAYS be a fan of Pokémon romhacks and new Pokémon idea/concept videos. This was a fantastic video. I hope this inspires more Pokémon fan game creators to create new games with this level of detail/creativity.

I love this! You're pokemon and 4 artist videos have been really inspiring me for a while now, but character design is where my heart is at, and as someone trying to design Gym Leaders of my own, this was REALLY COOL, and as an avid @actuallyrea watcher, I'm spoiled for more of her designs. Everyone's stuff was so amazing and I love the shape language! Samson and Apollo are probably my favorite designs from this video!

I started brainstorming a gym leader during this video.
You walk into the gym and are greeted by the 12-year-old Johnny. He has an upbeat demeanor and seems excited as he watches the challenger complete the puzzle.
When the puzzle is completed, he flaps his hands and battles the challenger. He… isn’t the best at battling. Upon his defeat, he doesn’t give the challenger a badge; Johnny isn’t the gym leader, not really. He then throws up his arms and says, “Doe! Doe! We have a challenger!”
Johnny falls backwards, twitches for a moment, and rises, visibly paler than he was a second ago. Turns out, Jonathan is a conduit for the ghost type gym leader, Doe, who is ironically a ghost. Doe explains as much, along with the fact they both like doing the whole possession routine; Johnny thinks it’s fun and Doe doesn’t mind too much.
Upon his defeat, Doe give the challenger the Phantom Badge.
It’s based on the creepy kid, benevolent abomination, and child befriending a monster tropes.

I love the sneakyness of the names! You wouldn't think anything of an NPC named Johnathan but then the twist of Doe being the real gym leader and actually being a ghost? Brilliant! That would be so COOL!

I dig the idea of an underground gym league with different rules than a regular pokemon league.
I think a doubles based second league like the scar/vi dlc would be fantastic but with Ron’s style of themed teams.
