It has often happened that I received requests from our community to look for medieval instrumental music. I found this beautiful record made by Gregorio Paniagua, the eldest of the Paniagua brothers, all engaged since the 1960s in the search for medieval music. In this work, the Atrium Musicae ensemble, founded by Gregorio Paniagua in 1964, has interpreted and created instrumental versions of some melodies by Thibaut de Navarre (XIIIth cent.), also called "the Troubadour".

This must take take a monumental amount of time to orchestrate.
Talk is cheap. Action needed.

Thank you for the time stamps!
I want to dance with somebody 💃 Will you, Knight of the Garter⚔️, bestow thy hand to mine👐, concede my affable request?
You do a true service each time you send a new release out into the world. Trolls and ghouls may be blind, but happier sprites hear and see the treasure of your artistry! Well done, and many thanks for this!
Thank you!
So well said.
Probably the best quality and most correct
Wonderful music a friend put on tapes for me in late '80s. Great rediscovery.
Thank you for this wonderfully uplifting music.
best channel for an escape to the past
oh yeah! true old school pop music 🤘
I really love this music!! As always, great music and great artwork. Thanks for creating and sharing this video.
Merci encore une soirée géniale en votre compagnie. Vous êtes trop trop trop sympas. 😉👍🍾

As a fellow creature of the 1970s, I am so delighted to see the enthusiasm this music is still generating. Although I am not surprised. When I sold classical records, we always mused on the fact that we could sell this music to people who did not care for classical. All we had to do was put it on, and we had sales every time. Always been a big fan of Paniagua and the Atruim. Their albums were extremely entertaining. Would you consider putting out "Tarantula"? I find bits and pieces of it on YT, but his programs were very special in their own right, and the complete album is amazing.
Bella Música Medieval Y,Que Imágenes De Esa Época ..... Formidable Trabajo,!!!..... Gracias; Es Maestría......*

Bisous à vous tous et toutes....
More goodness and inspiration TY =----->
Excellent
Great album! The North African percussion really makes it work. Btw, Thibaut was from Champagne, not Provence, which makes him a trouvère, not a troubadour. 🤓Just read on Wiki that he brought the rootstocks for the ancestral chardonnay grapes back from the Crusades.
He was also King of Navarre, but I agree about him being a trouvère.
@@rolandscales9380 -The Old French texts to his songs are quite amazing if you can find a tr., esp. Dex Est Ensi Comme li Pellicans, a diatribe against the clergy who preached the pointless Crusade he was involved in.
@@the_late_buddyryan1833 you mean the albigensian and cathar crusade in 1209?
I heard a song from savalls version of peire cardenal and raimon de miraval. Its the most beautiful and archaic/heroic songs.
@@bingzaniGercel-Thibaut led the so-called Barons’ Crusade (to Palestine) in 1239; they didn’t accomplish much and he was sorry he went. I love Jordi Savall though; I’ll check out the record you mentioned. ✠
Magnificent! 😍
Grand epic selection ! Enlightening ! Thank you so much for your selections ! Any Medieval Christmas selections ? A Joyous Yuletide to you & all !
ahhh!
Bonjour, bravo pour la qualité des musiques. Pourriez vous s'il vous plait indiquer le nom des enluminures que vous utiliser pour illustrer les musiques, merci beaucoup.
Thank you for your work Mirko, I just donated to you on paypal, I hope that can help you.❤️ from France.

What instruments are used to play the music in this recording?
That is also something I would like to know also. At a guess, something like - guiterne, medieval hurdy gurdy, frame drums, rope drum, bell stick, riqq, piccolo flute, tbilat, darbuka, tambourine, bells and cymbals?
🤓@@fplspartans - Good ear! These guys always list all the instruments, cut by cut, on the back cover of the LP. What you heard as a gittern is prob’ly the rebab. There’s also an oliphant [!] on band 5 and a qanun on 10… Geek’s delight!
Time When the biggest medieval battle in the iberian peninsula happened, NAVAS DE TOLOSA.
Os doy matrícula de HONOR "cum laude". Enhoarbuena. Buenisimo
Thibaut de Navarre! Note the Spanish feel to the music.
On your way home from the Crusades and you need some theme music...
Do these anecdotal drawings contain a thousand and one nights?
No. 🍷
Name of the images???
Back in the day we would drink from our skins and party till we puked to this music!
The time of the Vikings😄
Incorrect. This is 13th century music so 1200s. The Viking Age ended in the 11th century.
@@fplspartans oh, yes, that’s true…I red XIII as 800, but it is 10+3+th is 13th century, you’re so correct😉!
What the peasant doing? 😳😳
First.
It sounds better at 2x speed, and tbh thats probably more like the tempo they played at
So then re-record it so it sounds "better".
When watching on the laptop you can play at a max of 2x and it sounds more accurate then I believe.
Traditionally they played as quick as they could, there was some slow healing music perhaps. But it's documented they harpests had matty hair and played unclouth. At 1x it puts me more to sleep, but there are parts at 2x that are quite better.
Sources! What are the sources that say what you say?

Page 38 of 'Irish Druids and Old Irish Religions'
By James Bonwick, published 1894.
Quotes a much earlier source in saying so, I have been studying Ireland in the old testament for my upcoming book, and we use the harp as our national symbol, the only country to have a musical instrument as a national symbol. It is connected to King David, and the harp is mentioned along side the lire in various books of the bible going back to the book of Genesis. There is also a connection with the Hebrew word for harp, and the Irish. My granny's maiden surname comes from 'Bard'. And I intent to to learn the harp and play it in an unclouth fashion, I am having trouble finding an Irish examples of harp playing in this fashion, but the Celts were big traders and many stories, musical instruments and plants were exchanged around the ancient campfires with people all over the world, and I have found examples in other cultures. For example: 'Cumbia Sobre el Mar · Alfredo Rolando Ortiz'.
@@MrChristopher42 All very interesting, but I still don't understand how it can be said that all medieval secular music has to be played quickly. It seems impossible to me to think that the executive method has been the same for over a thousand years!
Consider that: there is no direct medieval sources that tells us the time and rhythm of execution.
The only smart thing to do is to create many different versions, but even so we will never be able to know for sure how it was performed, we can only speculate.
