Awesome tutorial! Easy to follow, simple pattern, thanks so much for posting this. I did my basket with Jute cord, decorated with some antler slivers my husband cut (they look like earthy buttons) and it came out spectacular!
I did good til row 9 & 10... & the repeats of 7 & 8. Have to watch the tutorial again & again til I get it. My yarn is beautiful and different colors, so probably that's why I got stuck. Other than that it's beautiful. Crochetting the bulky basket for my youngest grandaughter. She is 9 and learning to crochet, so my 12 & 14 y/o.
I made it! Great tutorial. Having only Lion Brand “wool ease” thick and quick on hand I used that. It’s a little too soft and my basket barely stands up,,,but I did it and will try different yarns to experiment. Than you so much.
Thank you so much for sharing... For every tip.. For you elegant cute basket.... Although I watch on an old I pad mini (first version) with a broken screen , I can still following you:) God bless you ... Following from Egypt
Cute basket. Really good job teaching. You could try using a Susan Bates hook to help keep your yarn from splitting. The head of the SB hook is wider and more in line with the shaft so it makes it easier to get into and out of your stitches. You may still split yarn but you'll notice an improvement.
Thanks so much for this wonderful tutorial and beautiful pattern!! I made a larger size, but you teach so well is was a joy to follow along. I'm leaving you a snapshot of the basket I just finished a moment ago. It's a surprise birthday gift for my best friend 😁 I altered the yarn choice by using two different worsted weight yarns combined: black/white/gray blend and amethyst. I hope you'll feel proud of how well your video helped make it happen! (Pic below)
+Jo-anne Whyman yes they would! You can make smaller baskets by stopping at the first few rows of the basket or make larger ones by doing more increase rows. Thank you for watching and commenting! 🌸
Hi, this basket looks really lovely! Could I please ask for the dimensions of the final piece? Do you think the pattern would work well if I made the basket a bit bigger? By following a similar pattern to add a few extra rounds to both the basket and the lid? Thanks very much
Jonna, you're doing a great service for people wanting to crochet and your project is adorable. Someone suggested changing the type of hook you use to help stop the yarn from splitting. Experience indicates you need to crochet looser, not change hooks. Your stitches are so tight I can hear them squeaking and it's also what's causing the yarn to split because you can't get the hook through the stitch. Try it, see what works for you. Good luck.
That definitely could be the case except when I filmed this is was very hot so the yarn gets a bit damp when your hands get hot. The acrylic yarn squeaks. And some yarn is made looser and splits no matter what hook you use. I’m happy you liked this project and my video! Thank you for watching and commenting.
you should be able to do a bigger basket with this method but depending on the size you may need something to stabilize it its easy to increase to bottom round to the width you want, just leave an extra single crochet in every round so the increases are further apart then do the height required, hope this helps you just get more wool.
+sandy montemayor yes! You would just make a bigger base. You will do a few more increase rows then start your sides. If you wanted it very big you could make two bottoms sew them together to make it stiffer. Also with a bigger basket I would go down a hook size. Thank you for watching and commenting! 🌸🌸
I had a very good start with thist, but the more i crocheted the more it looked weird. I thought i did something wrong and had to start again, but then I realized that it was the wrong way all along😂😂
Hi! How much yarn did you use for the whole basket? :) I plan to do this but I only have 1 ball of yarn in size 6 ((90 meters). I'm afraid to start on it if my yarn is insufficient.
+dreamamulet I only used part of one skein and it says it's 74 meters :) I think you should have plenty! Thanks for watching and commenting on my new video! 🌸🌸🌸

@@JonnaMartinezCrochet I started it, 8 used a t shirt yarn and a 12 mm hook 🤭 there is something I wanna understand, why do we repeat rows 7 and 8 then 9 ? Why chain 3? Why can't I just go chain 1 at the beginning of every round then continue the same way... 🙈
Adorable!!!! Love the buttons to secure the handle. ❤️
Thank You! Love it and perfect for a new beginner, really enjoyed it.

+Kris Krumanaker great tip! Thank you! I will look for one.
Thanks also for watching my video :)
PS--the ones with the bamboo handles are great, too; they help reduce stress on your hands and wrists, especially if you crochet a lot.

Hello!! How would I make this basket a little more slender?
I would just not do so many rounds for the base and then make the sides a bit taller. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Row 9 is confusing
What are the measurements of the basket? Thank you!
As I remember mine was about 5” across the bottom and 5-6” tall
Thank you for watching and commenting Rubeeca!
Mine isn't as sturdy as yours. 🤔
Try a smaller hook so the stitches are tighter. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Jonna Martinez yes, you're right. My N hook is a 10mm
Would a roll of toilet paper fit in this?
