I’m glad this video resonated with you. Social media isn’t want it used to be. It was a lot easier on platforms like IG but things changed drastically. I don’t enjoy being there anymore.
@@tarralu I agree with both of you. I loved Instagram years ago as I found a wonderful community of supportive artists. There was no algorithm, adverts or reels, just a chronological timeline of everyone I followed. We all used to support eachother. It's so sad because the algorithm disconnected us as we no longer see each others posts, and are forced to dodge reels, adverts etc if we open the app. I agree that our own websites with SEO, email marketing and UA-cam seem much better options today.
I am not an artist, so I am not sure why this came into my feed. But I am glad it did because much of what you said applies to any business. And as a spiritual business coach, I consistently encourage people to build their own website. No serious business owner should ever fully rely on social media to build their brand. It's a great connection and marketing tool when used properly. But we always have to remember that these platforms are designed to serve their own interests. And sometimes that can be counter to businesses seeking to build their brand.
Thank you for watching my video! It probably came into your feed because I’m also a life coach. I agree with everything you said. Having your own website is a must. ✨
This is wild. As a mew resident to my state, I went to explore an art show featuring Black art. Saw your wonderful work and actually spent the most time looking at your art. Very inspiring and thank you for the tips in the video.
This is wild. I’m shocked what are the odds. I stopped by Friday night for the art opening but I couldn’t stay too long (mommy duty). Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏾
@@butterflydecollette2688 Thank you for the confirmation! ☺️ SEO is not quick and you have to learn how it works but if you’re looking for sustainability then it’s the way to go.
It's so heartening to hear you say how social media doesn't really work for you, and that you don't consider youtube social media, but a search engine. It's great to see so many other artists in the comments who are averse to socials, too. I have a small youtube art channel and it's a great way to connect with like minded people and clients. A great community. Thank you! ❤
I had to stop kidding myself when it comes to social media 😅 It's just not for me. Doesn't been I won't use it from time to time but my focus shifted to UA-cam and my website. Thank you for watching! 💞

how nice I found your channel. I have only just started a webshop and am working on developing my own path in this. This video supports and gives me confidence that I am on the right path. Thank you🙏
I am so bad at marketing and putting myself out there. It is not because I’m shy but it’s just another layer to add unto an already full plate. I also don’t know where to start and what to do. It feels extremely daunting to be honest. I agree that it starts with your own mindset and I am currently focussed on UA-cam and being a single mom of 4 I juggle a ton of things at once.
@@mimisart Oh wow! How do you manage to do UA-cam and your art? I would love to see more videos on how moms are managing because I only have one child and it’s hard.
@@tarralu a routine and schedule are my friend 😉. My kids are older than yours. Ranging from 7 to 15. There’s a lot less hands on when they get older. They’re also not involved in any sports or other activities so I’m home a lot.

Thank you for the positive words and for your support! Yes, once you’re clear on your purpose and intent promoting gets a lot easier. That’s awesome that you homeschooled your children. I teach a lot of amazing homeschooling children and quickly realized the lie and decided I’m homeschooling my daughter. ✨❤️

Most of my connections are offline as well. I asked myself this month, “what if I put the same time into UA-cam that I’m putting into Instagram. What results might I have?” So, I’m focusing on UA-cam. You’re right, it’s a long game.
I’m have promoted my artwork on Shopify but I’m not getting any sales for months and I have to try to partner with companies and I have to start to get myself out there! 🙏🏾😊
I was on Shopify for a year and I found it hard to drive traffic to my website. I switched over to Squarespace and it's a lot better. There's pros and cons to both sites but I'll be sticking to Squarespace.
I just found your channel, and I like your honest and to-the-point style. I am an older artist with a few sales and a hope for growth. As for promoting my art, I use word-of-mouth and social media platforms such as Cara. I've sense moved away from posting art to the ones who like to use their customers' uploads to train their A.I. That limits my reach, but I feel better.
Thank you for sharing. I’ve been hearing about Cara but I haven’t looked into it yet. It’s sad what social media has become especially with how they’re training A.I. and not giving us a way to opt out. I no longer post there…I just use the DMs.
Thank you Tara, I’m new to your channel and I’m really enjoying your content. And, now that I am interested in putting my artwork “out there,” I just can’t get myself to open to SM. So my focus is on a website and possibly YT. I really appreciate your honesty and openness about the reality of an artistic journey. Thank you!✨🌟🥰
Thank you for your support! I commend you for not joining social media platforms. I definitely recommend focusing on your own website, starting a newsletter, blogging (it helps bring traffic to your website) and starting a YT channel when you’re ready. ✨🫶🏾
