  • Keeping 4c natural hair moisturized has it challenges whether low porosity or high porosity. In this video I show you how I moisturize my 4c hair in the middle of the week. This helps me to maintain moisture, retain growth, keep breakage at minimum and shedding. I use the lbc (liquid,butter, cream) routine. I have low porosity hair but I also give tips for high porosity as well. I also talk briefly about pH and its impact for hair. Check it out and don't forget to answer today's NapChat question.

      Jay Nisey Well shes an African. Most black Americans have looser textures, which is why 4C is the lesser hair type that you'll find on UA-cam. You have to go out of your way to find videos on that hair type. Because 9 times out of 10 if you click on a video that female will not be 4C.

    • @brittp105
      @brittp105 6 років тому +59

      +AnastasiaLUVSU most AFRICAN-AMERICAN have 4c hair.. hence most having perms or constantly wearing weaves because they do not have the patience to deal with it. I do agree that it's rare you'll find a lot of 4c black women on UA-cam, simply because the ones with mixed hair or a looser texture tend to be the ones who want to get on UA-cam and tell us black women with 4c textured hair how to deal with it.
      Just saying. But we are happy to have a UA-camr we can relate too 💁🏾

      Brij Amakaa I wouldn't say MOST black women have 4c hair and it's different types of 4c hair. It is 4c fine hair which grows very long and then 4c course which NappyFu has. Black ppl have 3c-4c hair without being mixed.

      +Koiley Fro the person We aren't talking about the general natural hair of black people in this thread, I was replying to the person above me who was trying to make it seem as though NappyFu's hair is 4c because she's African.. completely trying to disregard the fact that there are MANY African Americans with 4c hair that is just as kinky, if not kinkier than NappyFu. We understand that BLACK people have diff textures, I just had to let the person know that by NappyFu being African doesn't mean her hair would be less or more 4c than African Americans.

    Nappyfu THANK YOU so much for the knowledge. I’ve been on and off natural because I always ended up relaxing my hair because it was so dry and untamed. I did a big chip December 31 2016. I grew up with a perm so every time I wet my hair mom screams YOU’RE GONNA BREAK YOUR HAIR!!! Now I know natural hair is completely hydrophilic. Been following you for 2 weeks and I already see/feel a difference 😍. Now my hair is hydrated, moisturized and 🤗.

    You're literally my favorite natural hair youtuber. to moisturize my 4c hair, I have a spray bottle that mostly water, a little vegetable glycerin and some essential oils (lemon grass, rosemary, tea tree oil) and my hair loves it. I seal it with a spray leave in because I mostly do twist outs and going in with a butter would be too much on my hair. I do use shea butter on my styling days though.

    I re-moisturize once per week. I section my hair into 2 sections down the middle and work one section at a time. I use the traditional LOC method. I spritz my hair with plain water and add Bekura Beauty Honey Latte Detangling Hair Milk as my "L" (leave in). I follow up with Alikay Naturals Essential 17 Growth Oil for my "O" (oil). Then I split the one large section in 2 and add Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter for my "C" (cream) as I twist each twist. I usually have 3 twists in the front and 4 in the back per section when rocking a middle part. I have a mix of type 4b to 4c hair that is normal to high porosity. I tend to wear my hair out once or twice a week, usually the day after I moisturize and a weekend day. When I re-twist my hair at night I will re-twist with Qhemet Biologics Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee by itself.

    Thank you for making everything simple, natural and AFFORDABLE!!! Please do a video explaining all the natural hair acronyms and lingo. I don't know the meaning of many of them-- LBC, LOC, etc.

    Hey Nappy Fu my favourite UA-camr! First of all, I'm not a loose natural; I'm a lochead. Right now, I'm on a 3 months no retwist challenge (I didn't like that my locs were thinning out due to monthly retwists, so I wanted to give the roots room to breathe and thicken. It paid off!). I generally do EXACTLY what you did (yay!), only I do mine either every night or every other night (depending on the level of dryness, which can be influenced by several factors). My liquid is usually water with either cucumber juice and/or aloe vera juice, or sometimes, okra juice. I have to confess that I use it straight out of the fridge (covering my eyes) but somehow, it works for me and my hair accepts it (trust me, if my baby doesn't like it, she'll make it known in no uncertain terms!). I have no breakage, no excessive shedding and healthier locs. I wash every fortnight. One more thing: I make sure I keep myself hydrated by drinking plenty of water. I take drinking water very, very, seriously, because if I don't, it shows in my hair pretty quickly.

    I came on to say thank you and I see someone else has beat me to it. You have helped me so much!! I thought my hair was a lost cause because my meds damage it so much. I’m not sure if I’m a 4c I know it didn’t used to be like that. I had forgotten. It was so tangled I got tired and cut it. I watched your video and it helped so much thank you!!!

    Hi NappyFu,
    Love your videos! I tried the OLC method for my every-two-to-three days moisture routine and I love it! I warmed some coconut oil and saturated the strands of my hair; then I sprayed my water mixture (water, lemon juice, rosemary and peppermint EOs), followed by TGIN daily butter moisture. I love the way this process worked for my hair!

I have yet to find a channel other than BrownGirl that I truly love, but yours....I'm your newest fan!!! Sunday is my wash day as well, but I have been struggling to maintain moisture. I am so excited to use your advice. I'm going to wait until I wash it so I can start fresh at the beginning of the week, but thank you sooooooooo much :-)

    I actually do not take down my hair during the middle of the week. The style that I do on Monday will last me for the entire week with a nightly tie down. I do spray my hair daily with Aloe Water mix that has honey as a humectant, I also add to the mixture some lavender and tea tree with a little amla powder to condition my hair.

    GIRRRRRL!!! You're not playing with that pH strip 😂 I like DIY but now I no longer make mixtures that contain water. Besides pH, it is also important to check bacteria in the product... : too much work 😥 I remoisturize mid-week with SM leave in, soufflé and smoothie in that order. I scrunch the products without applying water and put my satin bonnet on. This technique allows me to moisturize my hair without retwisting it and still keep some definition (because water creates too much frizz for me). I also don't wear a cap in the shower, so the tapered side of my hair always get a bit wet and the top get some steam.
