Leica Summilux -M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH II (Close Focus) - First Impressions

The Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH II is a new lens from Leica which can close focus to 45cm.

Just got back on a red-eye from the Yucatan with my film MP, the same 50lux II and a 28cron, and a big baggie of film. Excellent lens, you just have to be mindful when you are focusing near that you don't inadvertently go into the uncoupled range. The detent is nice but you can easily blow past it. I would just pre-focus to the nearest and move the camera forward/backward until the area of critical focus was correctly focused in the rf patch. Works flawlessly on my M11 with a EVF though!!! Enjoy

@@DarrylCareyany 60/40 split of portra 160 and portra 400. I pushed on roll portra 400 a stop cuz I was shooting at night. I pick the film up today and start scanning 🤞🏽

Interesting to allow closer focus than 0.7 meter on a rangefinder lens, considering that its also ment for the film cameras.
You get an added bonus for shooting with a digital Leica bodies.

Still warm in NZ, but that will change soon. Its nice that Leica are rethinking their lens designs, still taking a bit of time to get use to this lens and the strange bump if you go to far with the focusing😩

Not as much now, changed some settings which has made things a lot better. Changed storage options to DNG+JPG on IN = SD, looks like this helped 🥴
