      Agreed but that’s not to say that the Thypoch doesn’t compete with the Leica on quality. It seems like it competes and holds its own pretty well. But there are many who want Leica regardless and that is of course fine.

      @martinrumfeld8593 oh gosh, I got it used on ebay. The full title was: Leica Summicron M 35mm F/2 ASPH Black E39 #11879. If that means anything to you lol. I have tried other leica lenses like the 35mm f/1.4 and the 50mm f/2 APO and I wasnt blown away. But THAT 35mm f/2 is just so noticeably different and gorgeous. It almost like... it has more contrast and sharpness towards the center of the lens, and wide open it just makes the prettiest bokeh without being distracting. It was the first time I looked at a photo and said "wow. I can SEE the difference."

    • @Jalan84
      @Jalan84 Місяць тому +2

      @@RumoHasIt Have to agree with you. The big difference for me is the feel of the lens. A lot of reviewers will say the build quality feels close to Leica, but honestly I don't think they do. I own Voigtlanders, some Chinese lenses, and a bunch of Leica glass all the way from 50s to modern lens. The Leica have a very unique feel and response. The focus throws feel very loose when you first try them, yet they are extremely accurate when focusing. Same with the aperture rings. Most of the Leica rings feel looser and easier to move than you would expect, yet they still have a very noticeable click at each stop. Every non-Leica lens I have used comprises somewhere that the Leica version just doesn't. Does not mean it's best image quality or value, but the best Leica glass does offer a unique experience.

    Great review and glad to see actual comparison shots instead of just a talking head. I shot Leica in the film days but once I tried an SLR I loved seeing my depth of field so I never went back. And now that mirrorless is here you can shoot at lower shutter speeds with IBIS plus I can use all my old Nikon lenses. I compared my Nikon FE with a 35 F2Ais Nikkor with a Leica M6 and a 35F2 Summicron and shot for shot on slide film the only difference I could see was the Nikkor had more flare which videographers love. So after that I quit lusting after the Leica. Not saying that Leica isn’t in a class all by itself but they are a bit of a niesh product. Now Lens lab and this new company are bringing out competitive products so we could have a Leica camera with 3 lenses for under 20K. Regards Gerry
