- Pokemon Legends will get new starter Pokemon for Pokemon day 2024 irrespective of whether its Pokemon Legends Johto or Pokemon Legends Unova. Or whether its some futuristic Celebi or Kyurem title. So what would the new set of Pokemon Starters be?

Rowlet, Cyndaquil and Oshawott were chosen because owls, volcanoes and otters were all elements that are sacred to the ainu people, the native people that inhabited the land that Hisui was based on.
Treecko - Froakie - Scorbunny - GOATed (Greninja is fitting for a Legends Johto - shinobi)
Mudkip - Fennekin - Grookey - GOATed (Delphox is fitting for Legends Unova - witchcraft)
Torchic - Chespin - Sobble - GOATed (Chesnaught is fitting for Legends Paldea - knight)
These 3 trios are all hits, no misses! It would make the Kalos Starters be the dictating ones!
I don't think we're gonna have ANOTHER Paldea game after we just had 4 installments of it but these trios are fire 🔥
Well it makes sense why the Sinnoh Starters wouldn’t get regional variants in PLA because they are in their natural habitats. The Hisuian starters got regional variants because they were removed from theirs and had to rapidly adapt to a colder, more hostile environment.
johto and sinnoh are right next to each other but cyndaquil still got a form

Hoenn is an island chain outta the way from sinnoh and jhoto, jhoto and sinnoh literally share a mountain range with the sinnohbruins in them

Johto and Sinnoh are not connected by land.
Those are the starters I would pick for a new legends game too. I thought of the legends arceus starters were gens 7, 2, 5. I thought they would do gens 8, 3, 6 for a new legends game.
6,1,4 would be my preference
My prediction will be for starters: Treecko, Scorbunny, and Froakie

Cinderace(Fire/Rock)
Greninja(Water/Fighting)
or
Grookey, Fenniken, and Mudkip
Rillaboom(Grass/Dark)
Delphox(Fire/Fairy)
Swampert(Water/Poison)
I like both of those options
Year of the Dragon and this set of starters can work for both Legends Jhoto and Unova
Charmander -Fire/Dragon
Teecko -Grass/Dragon
Sobble -Water/Dragon
Give starter line up of treecko, Charmander , totodile in any game I’m good
If Greninja is getting a regional form, I personally want it to be Water/Poison for Johto!
That would make a lot of sense since there are some poisonous frog species in the real world too.
My dream lineup would be Chikorita, Sobble and Fennekin all three have a lot of potential and the fact two of them are only single types means you can give unique final stage typings
I don't see why the Kanto starters can't get another form when Sneasel got another form and evolution in Hisui, which lore-wise didn't make sense either
Popplio makes actually the most sense out of all of these, since the original starter for Johto was supposed to be a seal/sea lion. So they can reference it back to that with Popplio being a Legends starter for the Johto games.
Someone on DanSquared (my friend told me) pointed out the possibility of Torchic, Piplup, and a mysterious third (Snivy most likely).
The hint was in the starter reveal video for Indigo Disk and the new 7* Tera Raids wave. Could be accurate since GF likes teasing things.
If the starter selection for Legends Arceus is anything to go by, I think how they're gonna select these next starters is from the most popular member of any trio
Rowlet, Oshawott and Cyndaquil did seem to be the most popular starters from their respective trios and regions compared to their other trio members

I want a regional inteleon. Greninjas my favorite pokemon but inteleon is also a comfort character (the whole line) but a greninja regional variant would be sick

I personally like the Mudkip, Fennekin, and Grookey combo the best, but I think it's more likely they do Torchic, Froakie, and Grookey because of how popular Greninja and Blaziken are.

Fennekin needs to be a legends starter because Delphox needs a better execution they gotta redeem themselves for Delphox
With Legends Arceus, the starters were chosen because of whether or not they could be connected to the region. Oshawott already took Japanese inspiration, Rowlet could easily have a different Decidueye form based around archery in an older Japan, and Cyndaquil was already from a Japanese region to begin with. They became different forms due to the harsh environment Hisui had at the time

Think we can rule out any of the starters with a mega tbh. They still don’t really touch those Pokémon with alternate forms (more specifically, regional forms) . I think the only outlier is slowbro; but that situation was weird since slowking never got a mega

TORCHIC FROAKIE GROOKEY IS MY BET
For Legends Unova, I’ve always held on to the choice of Treeko, Fennekin, and Sobble as the starters. Since the Hisuian forms final starter form were that of old eastern culture themes, a monk, a straw hat ronin, and a samurai. I think they’ll go for an old western culture themes for Unovan final forms of the starters, like a Native American(Sceptile), a saloon girl(Delphox), and an outlaw/cowboy(Inteleon).

I do like how you've gone about choosing these starter groups. And yeah Pokemon always throws a wrench at us with what they come up with next.
My theory is that the trio in arceus were picked based on personality traits: cyndaquil is the most fun of the fire starters, not considering scorbunny because LA is gen 7. Rowlett. For water you already have cyndaquil from johto so totodile out, piplup is native from hisui and oshawott is the next choice
LA theme was "funny trio". My pick for legends johto/unova will be the "cool trio" = charmander, treecko/snivy (case it's johto) and froakie
My prediction for the 3 starters are Snivy, Fennekin and Piplup.
It's gonna be Chespin, Chimchar and Mudkip for a Legends Johto. No bias, pure logic.

I feel like whatever starters get chosen they will never be good enough for the fan base... Me personally would chose chikorita, litten and quaxly... Turn meganium into an offensive brachiosaurus type thing give it grass dragon type, turn incinerator into some gnarley sabertooth tiger looking thing actually put it on all fours make it fire ice type, quaxly could be more like sirfetchd fused with golduck keep it's water fighting type if not quaxly I'd pick either piplup or mudkip but design wise wouldnt know where to start lol but I think I got somewhere with meganium and incineroar
I think there is a chance that Serperior will get a regional variant, it is the only one of the 3 Unova starters that does not have a dual type, if they make it a Ghost type then we have a triangle Ghost of Serperior dark by Hisuian Samurott and fighting from Emboar

For Legends Unova I'm gonna say Treeko, Charmander, Totodile. Fuck it, its the year of the Dragon, they all become dragon types. Unova is very dragon centric, and it would make sense why is there a Charizard bridge in Unova.

U would think that they would go for mons without more forms so Gen 2 4 5 6 7 and 8 excluding Rowlet Cyndiquil Froakie Oshawott and the Galar G maxes
It'd be nice if they'd pick any three starters but swapped their types!
Personally I think it will be
Squirtle, Snivy, and really any Fire starter left would fit, but let's just go with Fenekin if Legends Johto
Matching Arceus with 2 of them being monotype and that would finish off giving both the Kanto and Unova Starter trios with dual types
I don't believe Kanto would be exempt because the Sinjoh ruins heavily suggests that Sinnoh and Johto are also neighbors so if Cyndiquill can get one just going south I don't see why Kanto wouldn't also work if explained
And going off of the criteria for your choices I believe Treeco HAS to be one of them because it's the only single type Starter for Gen 3 and Gen 6 doesn't have any so it's either:
Treeco, Fenekin, Sobble or
Treeco, Froakie, Scorbunny
in keeping with 2 of the 3 being originally monotype like Arceus did
Fennekin would make a good choice for legends johto, it can turn into a ninetales variant or grooky can turn into an oni, im stumped on the water type tho. Maybe mudkip?

The beta starter for Johto was a seal/sea lion. They can reference that with Popplio.
1st gen wont be included bc they have too many variants around them. Gmax, megas, they are so explored as well not only in the anime, everyone is even freakin tired of charizard which was a lot of people's favourite

If they did a Legends Johto. They will exclude starters with mega forms, Gen 2, Gen 9, and starters with Hisuian forms.

we are not getting another Legends game. After the mess that was Legends Arceus, I prefer that they stick to traditional remakes.
The galar starters are all trash and treecko needs a new form because grovyle is better than sceptile. I'd go with treecko, froakie and tepig
