  • This video is to show you how I use an index card and recipe box to plan my day. I hope it helps you to organize yourself, become efficient in your home, and maximize the amount of time you can spend on the things that matter most.

I feel like the click list and all of your processes apply to everyone who needs to minimize brain cells devoted to essential household routines. Homemakers, students, working professionals, or someone recovering from surgery/concussion may likewise find these so very useful. Thanks for posting!

Absolutely! I use a fairly broad definition of homemaker - to me, a homemaker is anyone who works to make a house a home. Everyone you listed would definitely fit!

Thanks for the video. I'd be interested to know more about your clip lists! What's on your clip lists and how did you pick those tasks? When do you use a clip list vs a loop deck?

I'll be sure to do a video on that soon! In a nutshell, I make clip lists to be a little lazy 😉 If I'm going to be carrying around the same 8 cards every morning for my get-ready routine, it's easier for my hands to flip a binder clip wing closed than to handle all those cards. It also makes it easier to go out of order, if I need to, and still remember to do all the necessary items.

@@Sarah.the.Homemaker Thank you, that makes sense! And as my mom always says -- "I'm not lazy, I'm just efficient!" 😉

Where do you find the motivation to get all this done? Some days I'm very good at my tasks list but other days I don't have energy & feel in a funk. How do you get past that?

To make the work more pleasant, I do a "sensory check-in" and set up nice things for myself like playing music, opening windows, using a scent, or laying a padded rug where I'll be standing.
I've streamlined my daily routines to include only the essential tasks - and to include all the essential tasks. So, even when I'm in a funk, in pain, or under the weather, I make every effort to complete those lists every day.
If I would really, truly benefit more from rest than I would from doing my planned tasks, then I'll clear the sticky notes off my schedule and just stick to the basics for the day.

@@Sarah.the.Homemaker Thanks so much for sharing. I've only been doing tasks list this year and it has truly helped. I came across one of your videos and I was hooked. It was the first time I've heard about the Sidetracked Home Executives book. I hope I can build up a system/routine that makes my home more manageable. Your approach seems double. I'll keep watching to learn from your videos!
