Let me not lie I’m in love with these 3 door hatchback astras 😍😍😍😍
So am I I'm looking to buying my first car and am really thinking of one of these
Aaron Strudwick would say go for it but find the correct one
Ive just bought one of these,a 59 plate for £5,100 with 1500 miles on the clock, virtually brand new
Blimey!
Great review of this car and just your general review direction.
I wanted one of these 7 or 8 years ago for 10k in mint condition, but with cars being just metal on wheels I managed to withold my urge and spend money elsewhere.
Almost guaranteed to be my replacment car at £1500 if my Peugeot diesel 1.4 125k miler packs in within the next couple of years.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to film you work and upload.
Thumbs up.
Many Thanks :)
Im 17 and this is going to be my first car in like 2 months
Im jealous lol
Same
Also 17 I wanna 1.6 make it a vxr replica
Do u have it
He saw the insurance and shat his pants @@ah_1009
I recently bought the 2009 1.9 turbo diesel in silver 90,000 on the clock runs like a dream, also with sports seats and sports suspension.
Actually loved this review. Very insightful and honest.
I have the black 07 1.7 cdti sxi 5 door. Mint car. Only got 66k on clock!
you were able to get a saturn astra in usa and holden astra in in aus and chervlet astra too
Good to know 😊
Liked the review I have the same car 2008 different version SXI until today with 84.000 miles. This car is reliable I must say and I keep it in a very good condition. The exterior has some expected wear after all these years with some chips on paint and faint scratches that I could remove with some polishing I guess. It's worth mentioning that I have similar scratches as yours on the headlights. I suspect they're supposed to become like this over the years. I have recently started to service the car on my own as well following some youtube videos. It feels rewarding :)
Certainly well worth trying to service your own cars, I was paying for basic oil changes up until 5 years ago! Now I can do my own in 15 mins on almost any car that comes my way. Thanks for your comments Theo 🙂
Nice honest review
Another enjoyable review from you. Keep them coming.
I just bought my daughter the 2.2 litre SRI Astra Coupe. It only had 59,000 kms and is in as new condition. Got really cheap and goes like a dream.
Great choice on a budget :)
I love Vauxhall astras
Me too bro
Best make ive ever owned Vauxhall are and ive owned 100s both legal and illegal. My first legal! car was a citroen and build quality was crap. Backlights let water in and kept blowing fuses, basically it was a fookin disgrace. Needed 2 drive shafts in 2 years. Bought it with 24k sold it on 77k. Engine was fine however. Then i got a cheap Astra, took it to Belguim, almost missed the ferry and thrashed it within an inch of its life to make it. the little Astra bless it did 130mph for a 1.6. Took it around Belgium and it was fine. Kept it for a year and all it ever needed was coil packs, dont they all. Then i got a Honda Type R EP3 and trust me had nothing but problems with it. Timing chain kept slipping due to worn cam pulleys so never again. Then wanted an MPV saw a lovely Vauxhall Zafira GSI for sale on Gumtree, Full Service History,Timing Belt Done dunno when but brand new belt on. 81k and 7 seats which the missus wanted and power which i needed. Still have the car now 2 years on, car itself needs coil pack, dont they all. Vauxhall for me! Most reliable cars ever. Back doors will pack up and not unlock but this is common fix to wiring loom under door sill, wires just snap over time.
Update now July 2021 and Vauxhall Gsi still going like a baby. Told you their reliable. Just regular services and they run forever. Following from my original post left in 2019!!!!. Wow doesnt time fly.
Did the cars radio have Bluetooth or a usb input please
Sorry It's so long ago I can't remember now 🙄
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes it’s alright no problem. Thanks
The fact you got a receipt is a dealer thing enough 😂😂😂
Nice example tho. Great vid
The 'sold as seen' works both ways, because the thing with second-hand cars is, there is always going to be a buyer who will demand his money back (after paying a couple hundred quid for a car) because the ashtray is full or something trivial.
my astra window played up a bit and i looked online and you can re set the computer by a series of up down manouvers, i tried it and it cured the problem with mine, it started working again, only took a few minutes
Brilliant! Thanks for the comment Bob :)
I've owned a design model and indeed it does have auto wipers but you have to turn the imminent wipers on and then the auto sensor comes on confusing to use at first lol and it also has a auto dimming mirror
I just bought one of these and when I did the insurance, it said online that it was an auto (when it was actually a manual). Must be a common thing as the one I bought was a 2007 design 3 door. You said about not knowing what design adds, but I believe the seats are nicer and the fact it has piano black plastics instead of the horrible gray.
So a slight upgrade to the standard Astra then, good to know, thanks for the comments 😁
I have this same car do anyone know we're the fuel filter is located and how often it needs to he changed thanks
I do not believe the Astra H (petrol) has a fuel filter you can replace, it's a lifetime part, so you would need to replace the entire fuel tank, on the Diesel it's just behind the top of the engine though :)
How can I open feul cap in Opel Astra 2007 1.6 please answer
The boot is quite decent
I used to have one of these and the switch for the electric window on the drivers side was rubbish and gave me issues with the windows. I replaced it and it was fine after
That's the beauty of these cars, parts are sooo cheap, a used switch is around £10 :)
Looking at buying a 1.6 SXi '56 plate from a mate but might need a touch of work. Is much cheaper than the fiestas/polos though. Anyone know how good these are on longer 2-3 hour drives? Appreciate this vid's a few years old now lol
I had an Astra mk4 with an electric window issue front passenger side. It turned out to be broken wire in the loom in the hinge area where there was the rubber boot type connector
Another gem you've found. Great colour, but that rear bumper, bizarre it wasn't same colour code. Agree with you on the dash, it's the one thing I don't like about those Vauxhall's, I had a 05 Vectra for a few months as a company car after having had a Passat, it was just terribly cheap, and it does matter as it's where you spend all your time. Is this an age thing, 3 door coupe derivatives of standard cars? I'm similar age to you and am looking at a 3 door pre-mid life crisis car next , but still set on a Pro Ceed 2012 plate. I'll let you know soon. Think I'll be painting the brake calipers too, let's face it, we get to a point in life where we really don't give a sh*t about what people think.
Well said Lee :)
To be honest I normally paint the calipers, just as cars of this age tend to show their age in certain area's. and the calipers always look bloody terrible! but a quick coat of Hammerite and they look great again, if it's a "sensible car" then I use Silver, but if it's something a bit sporty, then I use Red. A tin of Hammerite costs £5 and you can do around 6 cars for that! just takes 1.5 hours and well worth it. Good choice on the Ceed BTW, I would buy another One without any hesitation :) And as for 3 door coupe cars lately, it actually wasn't a conscious decision, it's just what was available for my budget really, but as I'm single and no kids to worry about, then a 2 door Coupe is perfect for me, I'm not so old yet that I need an estate car haha
Im lookin to buy one of these soon. Found 1 with 1 previous owner from new and a full service history. 2008 reg, 124k miles is the downside. But all this for £1400. Is it worth it? The cars in really good condition as well.
Quite high mileage, so check the clutch, and suspension for wear, even if it's cam chain check for cold start rattles, if it's a cam belt ask for proof of last change. £1400 seems a little high for a 14 Year old Vauxhall with those miles though, unless it's at a dealer with a decent warranty?
I saw this car earlier near Bodmin!!
I'm a young driver, I've got a 1.9 TDI Mk4 Golf at the moment but the clutch & flywheel are on their way out. I'm looking at Astras as they look great & most importantly the insurance is amazing. Would you recommend this for a young driver & if so what do I need to look out for when viewing one of these?
Great cars for any driver to be honest, cheap on parts, cheap on insurance, just try to find One with decent history and you should be fine (look for subframe rusting back and front)
Budget Bucket List Cars And Bikes awesome thank you for that😊
Granted this is an older video now, did you manage to solve the issue with the central locking? Mines is exactly the same, need to be within 3 feet or so for it to even work.
I didn't figure it out really, have you changed the battery on the fob itself?
Budget Bucket List Cars And Bikes I have yeah, I’ve yet to try the switching to position 2 then holding the lock button to “reprogramme” the key. Will update whether or not it works once I get the car back from the garage later on tonight.
Can i buy a 2010 vauxhall astra manual? Any advices will be appreciated.. Thanks
haynes.com/en-gb/vauxhall/astra/2009-2013
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes thanks for your response.. The vauxhall 2010 astra manual has got a 75k km on it for 2000 pounds?
Would you recommend any cheap but moderate sound exhausts
Not sure my friend, I do not often modify my cars, as I just don't keep them very long ;)
Great review, just bought one of these beauties, what in your opinion is the problem that often occurs with these models?
Clutch judder can be quite a common issue on the 1.6 MK5, and a few smaller things like incorrect fuel gauge reading, boot light failures, corrosion on the suspension tower tops, and under body corrosion (around the front subframe is quite common) but nothing that you can't check while your viewing the car really ;)
The 1.6 is a bit tiring (I had one). I have an Astra H SRi 1.9 CDTi 150 and it's got a nice bit of grunt.
Got a 60 plate one of these just the same I’m from the north but would pay for parts to be posted know anywhere good for parts for these?
Sorry no idea on parts really mate
Budget Bucket List Cars And Bikes thanks anyway
hey great review, what device did you use to record this?
Just my Mobile phone ;)
4:44 i have the same problem on my 5 door sri+ gna look if there’s a colour difference
Looks to me like there is on the video
I'm thinking of buying one as my first car would you recommend this.
Depending on your driving experience, you might be better off with something a little smaller to begin with, perhaps a Corsa? check my other video's :)
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes will do keep up the good work
R1C4 2405 I have one as a first car and it’s fantastic, I absolutely love it, it’s not too fast and not too slow perfect for a first car imo
Great review, I'm 24 and even this is too Late teens for me. Looking for a Swift Sport as an upgrade from my Yaris T Sport, what are your tips from your ownership of them?
My only real tip for buying a SSS is to just do it!
They are One of my all time favourite cars, so much fun, for such a small price, and parts are cheap too.
Just check the suspension/steering components/clutch/oil and water/ make sure all the electrics work (the usual stuff) :)
Smh don't get a sss just buy a Vauxhall astra vxr mk5 or mk6 they're incredible cars 0-60 in 6 seconds
Ive got exact same panal gap. Keep having knock it back in
120k miles, better check the timing chain which has a 150k mile lifespam. See if the chain has obvious sign sof stretching or breaking.
In my experience if the chain isn't making any odd noises from a cold start up, then it's generally in decent condition.
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes good to know thanks
Does the car have bluetoth
Im not certain this model had BT as standard sorry. Although I would be surprised, but fitting an after market head unit would of course give you that feature if needed :)
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes would i be able to play music connected with my phone
Yes or no?
@@yt_yousaf0598 yes of course 😉
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes but you mentioned earlier that is has no Bluetooth
Looks quite nice though exhaust must sound good.
Made to look like a VXR thats all. A VXR with Design on the side lol.
ive got one of these im from australia
I got one of theses and I have the same bumper issues on the front on one side. Frame looks all straight though
How much was your insurance bro
Around £120 if I remember right
I've got the sxi 5dr 2007 in metro blue as my 1st car it's got 122k on clock full history I do like the mk5's
Personally I think the MK5 is a great looking car, specially in 2 door :)
Completely agree, 2 days ago i got a black 2009 1.6 2 doors and is a beauty.
My first thought was that the car looked way cooler than it should specially coz is a 09 plate!
Any advise if i wanna get 18'alloys?
First car sxi? how much you pay? 122k is nothing these days.
A steel if you paid less than £300 with 12months MOT
This video has the perfect amount of swearing
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Not worth it. Im a new driver and get quoted £6,000+ for insurance on these even though they cost £2,000
Astra corsa and ford/volkswagen are worst for new drivers.
Wow that's a lot! I know new drivers get hammered by insurance companies.... but that is insane!
Always state sold as seen everytime wether trader or private
It aint unusual but to slag someone after you bought it is sods law as if you was that bothered you should have walked away
As I said a lot of the issue's were discovered AFTER I bought the car, I have bought a lot of cars and bikes over the Years, and never had a private seller state "sold as seen" on the receipt, in fact most private sellers don't even offer a receipt. My Gripe was that I had been asking questions for at least a week about the car, and did it have any issue's, only to find after I bought it (or after traveling by train for 2 hours to get there) that there were quite a few things that needed sorting, but you live and learn ;)
Is it worth buying one after 120k milage reaches
Well this One was over 120.000 Miles and it drives very well :) just check the usual things like suspension and noises from engine, and try to find One with good service record too.
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes Thank you for your reply, I suppose I will avoid this one as there is no service history 😂
Budget Bucket List Cars And Bikes i am also looking at one!
Vauxhall are dependable cars but problem is the people that buy them neglect them
I've got the 3 door 1.9 sri, the 150bhp one, nice to drive, pulls like a train and I can get over 50mpg from it.
