We all pay stupid tax at one point in our life or another.🤔
Yeah it's called marriage.....
Wasgood, i do food reviews while I’m high off zaza on my yöutube chånnel 💯
I’ve never done it on a car.
Yeah but this guy's stoopid tax rate was double
This guy needs to STOP and reflect on HOW he came to this place
Check engine light has been on and off in my 2002 Camry that I paid $2250 dollars for. Every once in awhile I just pop the hood and make sure it’s still there. 😅
I have a check engine light for a broken gas gauge.
It cannot pass emission.
$1000 to install new gauge
usually not a problem unless you live in an emissions testing area
@@redfox_84 car so old! Prob doesn’t even need an emission test
@@reese85 2002 is OBD II. doubt it is exempt anywhere. maybe some places if the car is 20-30 years old.

There is a reason why Dave's advice to never borrow for any car is best.
Dave's face at 1:30! 🤣 I don't think I've ever seen him do that.
Pikachu
He could’ve demand the dealer to fix the 1st car and demand a free loaner. Dealership should offer 30 days warranty on car they sell.
You can try that. Used cars don't have to come with a warranty and if they do not they are assumed to be as-is. A car dealer might offer to help as a good will gesture or they might not.
He tells it straight that is what a love about this guy. Dont sugar coat it , sugar is for coffee 😂😂😂😂😂
Dave's face at the 1:30 mark 😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Replayed that too.
Sometimes it's hard to fathom how people make the decisions they make.
David was about to pass out!

When you buy a car "As Is" you accept it as is regardless what is wrong with it. You need to have an independent mechanic inspect the car before buying. If the seller won't let you do that then you have your answer right there.....RUN AWAY.
im so glad John said that. it makes me realize the bad habits/bad patterns i do when things go sideways. is to catch myself and pause and get good counsel
It’s important to walk away. Especially if the salesman is “creating urgency” by offering something, but only if you close the deal right then. Forget it.
You thought you were having a bad day 😀.
Maybe it was a rainy day
I like people that take advise from experts and do the exact opposite. Then complain. 😆
Have an aunt like that, even my cousins are done with that and refuse to talk about money with her "sorry mom, I have no opinion about it, you do as you think best", it had not solved the problem, just made it a less annoying though
Love "If you do something impulsive, you are a fool in action."
“Is he an Alabama fan?” ... so cold.
Dave should call him out on this.
He'd best not travel south anymore.

I can't believe he said that but it was hilarious 😂

Like this guy doesn't need to talk about having an accountability partner. He needs to know technically what to do and then he needs to learn basic financial principles and budget.
I knew a relative that always did that too emotional and thought they deserved a new car then afterwards all I heard were complaints about the payment. They would complain they got a bad deal. Never learned always got a new car every other year.

2000$ cars dont exist anymore 5000$ is the new normal just like the 1000$ emergency fund needs to be like 2500 cAuse alot of car repairs cost that much nowadays
Sad. I bought a Toyota Avalon with 130K miles around 2015 for $3,200.. Now for that price the car would have 230K miles.
5k cars dont exist 10k is very sketchy at best. EVERYONE I KNOW CANT AFFORD A CAR IN CASH. Unless its 2k which is just the tires.

I was expecting when the guy was asked how old he was the answer to be 18 years old. At 32 years old that’s way too old to be taken like this.

@@stellarocquie7957 True!
He did call his “ buddy” John!
A fool and his money will soon be separated.
I don’t understand why people who make bad decisions are always afraid to put money into their cars with repairs.
Cars need repairs at times, people.
Depends on the car and how much the repairs are
True, but at the outrageous cost of even used cars…you have to weigh the cost of repairs vs. a new one. NEVER buy a used car from a dealership if you can help it. I got a letter offering $8K over KBB value for my car. Tells me they must be skinning the buyers at the dealership.
When this guy said the sales person no longer works at the dealership, that's all I needed to hear to know they are a sketchy place. We were sold a used car of a known-to-be-good make and model, with a reasonable number of miles, and were told the second set of keys could be picked up the following week at the dealership. When we called to ask about picking up the additional keys, we too were told by the dealer that the sales person who said they would have them "no longer works here." A few days later, that car started having lots of undisclosed issues. Dishonest businesses all seem to use the same lines. Glad we know about the run around now, and we told everyone we knew to stay away from that place! Thankfully we had not borrowed to buy that car, but we immediately had to start saving up for the next one. When this caller said they used that line on him, it just brought back all those memories! Ugh!
Take a shot every time Dave says stupid or dumb.
Are you trying to send me into liver failure lol

Dolly, thanks for your kind words. I am glad to say we were able to cancel the total loan of $17k for the Carolla. God is good and we feel elated. Now to sell the Camry and get on Dave’s Baby Steps program. This is a humbling experience.
@@George-uj6rd Hi George, So happy to hear you are finding creative solutions. I have made so many financial mistakes over the years. Let's call them learning experiences. I now teach personal finance to high school students!
Dave’s face is absolutely hilarious!!!!!!!!1
my check engine light has been on for 160k miles.
We bought a used Toyota sienna and so far it has been excellent. But I seem to be hearing a lot of stories where Toyota dealers seem to be rip off artists. Not sure if they are any worse than other dealers but this is the vibe I'm getting. And if you are buying ANY car new or used, check it over and under very thoroughly. If you are not confident in your abilities get someone who can look it over for you. Like this guy, you can be financially devastated by a poor decision.
He didnt pre purchase inspection the car thats why
I think that's all dealers in general. Also remember with new cars in short supply (which probably won't improve for another couple of years at least), used cars are at a premium. It is pretty much the only time in history where cars are appreciating in value lol.
Something doesn't sound right. He buys the first car from a dealership for 17k and it's a lemon, but the dealership has no obligation to rectify selling him a broken car? Did he use a third party dealership?
Yeah I don’t understand that part. No lemon laws?
Lemon laws only work on brand new cars and depending on if he bought the car as is! The dealer is not obligated to do anything but a good/decent dealer would try and work with them! I’m currently in a similar situation
@@reese85 thank you!
I donnow why he didnt pre purchase inspection the car
It's called As-Is buy, but a reputable dealer will generally work with you on repairs...
Taking advice from college graduates and people generally accepted by everyone is the worst. Most these people are narcs. They will do something for you as long as you don't mind being in debt forever.
Lolz they dont even care if you are in debt
I feel better. Now I can go ahead with my day 😂
Oof.. hope he can get out of this without too much damage. That’s brutal. But that’s why you don’t jump into debt without seriously thinking about the ramifications. Best of luck man
Daves face at 1:30 then he asks how old r u. Hoping its a dum 18 , 19 year old kid its hilarious 😂😂😂
John, that Alabama joke hurt me a little!!!! 🤣
Folly is a noun that means "a foolish act" or "lack of good sense..." according to Mirriam-Webster. Appreciate the advice and quote. I surely have done stupid tax and made decisions based on emotions rather than good rational thinking.
Yep, a noun but in that use it's a variable noun. Most definitely isn't correct to call it a verb. I guess Dave took advice from an idiot.
These two are masters of beating a dead horse.😂
This is why if my 2007 Sporttrac engine or transmission blow up I rather fix it and eat the $3k-$5k bill instead of taking on a $40k loan on a new or used truck.
Why I research engine and transmission costs before buying a used vehicle. Extreme example a few years back noticed the Porsche Cayennes were going for $20k used, then saw a used transmission is $10k and a used engine is $15k, no labor just the parts.
That was stressful!
Alabama fan😂 hold my own beers. 🍻 man 😂❤
This is the younger generation for ya. They are now walking among us and voting as well...
“Then you upgraded your mistake” lol

that's what they are selling for now
That's not even remotely surprising. Corollas hold their value well.
6:25 john is right, people nowadays are impuslive in buying expensive items like cars
It would have been much better to put a new engine in the original car. I have done that with severals cars that had good bodies, tires and suspensions. We drove them happily for many years.
Depends on how much that job cost cuz it may not make sense
Dave’s look in this thumbnail says it all
06:18 Really Dr.John? Calling a friend is the very reason this poor guy ended up where he is...🙄. Dont call anyone, use your brain!
Hahaha I laughed at that too.
That’s what I call “a bad one”
Take advice from people with MONEY and SUCCESS. Not people who only talk because they have mouths.
Pre purchase inspection bro every time , or at least a place like Carmax with a full return period if you don’t like it or it has issues
As soon as I heard the words "Buick Verano"
My heart dropped
That 1/2.4L EcoTec Turbo engine is a complete dumpster fire
As for the Camry, stick with that, but get an older one
1:51 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😩😩😩😩🤦🏾♀️
Are there not any “lemon” laws in NC? This is something that should be explored.
Not on used cars
Rarely on used cars.
Typically everything you sign includes making it very hard for you to ever come back and have leverage.
You're only hope is out of the goodness of their heart they work with you on some level. But they have usually no obligation for that.
Does that State have a ‘Lemon Law’? That first car sounds like he was sold a Bad car!!
One thing I'm kinda glad that the UK does well, consumer protection laws. Buy a car with inherent faults, even if used, and the seller will have to rectify them or refund the money. Crazy that the US doesn't.
probably didn’t tighten the gas cap when the engine light turned on lol
Our 1999 lexus ES 300, the VSC code comes up if we don't tighten the gas cap, even bought a brand new one and it still pops up that code.
Folly is actually a noun, but good scripture Dave
Hopefully this tax will make him get rid of silly friends.
We all give bad advice but you ain’t gotta take it
Dave can’t believe the stupid. 😂 1:39
I will never understand why Dave hired Deloney.
People call because they know they made a mistake. No need to harper on them and keep referring to their stupidity and dumb choices constantly. Done watching this show.
He's in deep 💩 😂
I hope he finds a way to get out of those cars and their loans. I know he will take his time next time to research and not make rash decisions
"...take his time next time..." yeah, I don't think so. He certainly needs to be acting more like his age, you don't go ask "a friend" who knows a whole lot less than you obviously about a poor decision you made.
Josue, good one.
Sounds like the first dealer sold him a clunker.
Wow!
Just remember…there’s ALWAYS a reason someone is selling a used car, and the reason is almost always NOT a good reason.
Depends on the age of the car! If it’s just a few years old, the person could’ve been coming off a lease!
You really save alot of money being a mechanic
Wow, just wow...
Great 👍
This is why you buy used cars. If you have to finance you need to get the smallest loan on a used vehicle as possible.
0:43 "2016 Toyota Corolla for $15,500" Better off buying a used car from a private party rather than a dealership.
@@CokefishR for sure. Buying used private party is typically the way to go. I got my latest mitsubishi mirage with 47k miles on it for 6200 private sale in cash.
@@iuyozx but you are paying a drastically higher price with interest for a depreciating asset. That goes against the teachings contained here.
@@iuyozx a higher interest rate on a minimal amount of money borrowed like 1,000 dollars on a car loan that covered the amount of cash you do not have is better than the lower interest rate on the 15,000k auto loan.
So in this situation, remember that in order to legally sell a car you need the title. The bank that gave you the loan has the title (holding the cars as collateral). So you need a personal loan from the bank that is as much as the car loan right? But you are already in debt far more than you should be. What if the bank doesn't approve the personal loan? How do you get out of that situation?
When you sell the car you can say it has a lien on it. You and the buy can go to the bank with the lien, he pays his portion, and you the remainder (if any) owed and they will transfer title to the new buyer.
@@Quinu12 😂😂😂😂
Call the bank and tell them to come take their cars. Don't make any payments
I have never in my life bought a used car from a dealer. Thats paing what I call high retail. If you don't have cash. You can usually get a car loan or even In my 30 years experience after buying around a dozen used cars. I would have paid 50% or more.
What in the heck 😮😅😂
He doesn't need to call anymore buddies
Why not? He didn’t have to listen to them or at least make sure the info was correct b4 doin it
People always overspend on cars in America. Toyota has a nice basic model pickup for a great price only sold in Mexico and some other countries. The same truck sold here is double the price and has seat warmers, power everything and a camera with dash display. The one sold in Mexico is basically the same as a 1990's model. Hand crank windows too. I don't even want the extra things, but would be forced to pay for them here.
He may have resources to get out of the contract since they sold him a lemon, but it was still a foolish thing to do
John gets a little cringe trying to fit in on the show
The Alabama fan jab hurt lol
Question..were do u find a good $2000 car that wont eat u up with need repairs? You ll get a piece of- - - - thats worth nothing. Thats why they re selling for $2000..
“There are no exceptions to the rule…. Everybody plays the fool.”
Good song
depends on the state you do get like 30 days to cancil the car loans
You do not have to have a reason for canceling the loan. ... You can cancel your loan within 14 days from the date the loan is signed. After that, you have 30 days to pay back the money. You may be charged interest for the days that you have the loan and there may be fees on top of that.
but they are not going to tell you, so you freind may have been right BUT you have to know that.
Not with a used car and being sold as is
Which is why i only selective on listening to friends because most of them make dumb decisions on their lives
Corolla probably needed a battery
Thank God im stubborn lol no one can tell me what to do because i already know.
Should have solved the problem at the first Toyota dealer before going to another one, also I wonder if the first dealership was under any warrantied obligation on a car it just sold the day before? (If it was a "certified Toyota used car" I believe it was)
At 32 yrs old, this is unforgiveable. 😂
32 acting like 23.
These guys should work at a delerships and call everyone “idiots” who finance a car .
The first one was a lemon. By law they have to take it back.
Lemon laws only work for brand new cars
Wow just wow
Are there no lemon laws in NC?
Prob not for used cars.
They didn't ask him if he had any other debt or how fast he could pay the Camry off. Worth less than half his salary. Why not keep that and sell the Corolla?
The car not starting could be ANYTHING, from a dead car battery to a dead key fob battery......did he diag the no-start condition?
Wow!! now I have two loans....how does that happen???
I've definitely payed my fare share of stupid tax. I'm doing pretty good now because I learned better I'm driving a truck with almost 300000 miles because its PAID OFF! And been payed off for a long time when it breaks I fix it. I'm trying to tell all these young people to save! save! save! Cause schools isn't teaching them that I'm 32 and if I would have known at 17 or 18 what I know now I'd be a millionaire
Toyota sells a bunch of Certified Pre-Owned. He got a pre-owned lemon with no warranty, when he could have gotten one for that price. Then, he goes and get another one even more expensive. Go take those to Carmax I guess
Return it to the dealership and don't pay one more cent on that loan!! That is their problem, they sold you a bad car! You can keep the 2020 Camry if you buckle down your budget, work extra, and pay it off fast. Sometimes you have to play rough with these nasty banks and car dealers.
@@iuyozx yeah it definitely doesn’t work like that
@@iuyozx that’s right. They will fix it though.
the dealership will have it in the papers you sign when you buy the car it is "as is" and not their problem anymore once you sign
That is why we never pay over 5K for any car without a warranty.
Your not buying too many worth 5k with a warranty
