LOVED this caller and Dave’s gentle but firm fatherly way with her. ❤
Shes been hearing her entire life that people should have no differences and that if someone goes out every weekend to eat and drink, friday through sunday then she should too be able to do that, and thats not how real life works.
Exactly 😢
or she graduated college and expects to one day retire, lol
good luck to her generation, they're gonna need it
@@jakeleisure8326 being 25 is a long way to go.
I asked my 20yr old Co worker why he bought a brand new expensive $30k car like a year ago. He visto told me because all the other kids were doing the same thing 🤦.
@@jakeleisure8326 lol almost every person I know in my generation (25yo) drives 20k cars, buy luxury items, travel and go out partying etc. none of this is bad at all, but they then go on to complain that they don’t have what I have at 25, I now have small passive income that’s growing day by day and can work a job I actually enjoy as I don’t have to stress about a dollar… that meant I drank cheap, ate cheap, didn’t go to Sunday brunch etc. or have cocktails after work like 90% of the people in my area do. It’s much harder these days, but not impossible and many don’t realise how much little things add up over time.
Dave's been doing this a long time. When he puts down his pen, you know it's not a money problem.
Eagle eye!
That part
Somebody pay close attention in class.
That pause after he said and someone says let's go get a drink lol
It's Amazing how Dave can figure people out within 30 seconds. I can see it in his face lol. These characteristics of him is why I listen to my "eleders" and Dave.
I listen to Dave answer these types of questions for years, probably my entire life, but this is the most clear I think he’s put it before, I don’t know something about the way he said it this time made something click in my brain
I totally understand you. I honestly think people have to focus on their priorities and goals, everyone says they have but the truth is that most people don’t take that seriously and they ended up in this situation, that’s sad.
People have to focus on their goals, when you’re motivated by your goals and priorities, everything changes
Math is really hard for a lot of people.
Lol
No it’s not they problem it’s they cant say no Or stop impressing people
No. Math isn't the problem.
Discipline IS the problem.
Both of them
What kills me is when i hear gross pay and Net pay is what pays the bills. I make $3k per month, and the gov takes its share and you don't start with that - you start with $2100 or so .Margins are a lot tighter than we think
I agree, $50k gross in one job could be $40k, another one could be $30k in another. Deductions are killer, especially healthcare.
I agree but this caller is making 4K a month. Also at that salary she is not getting taxed nearly 1/3 of her income.
Only making 30 something thousand you're really not getting taxed that much and you're probably getting a tax return most years
Yes
As a single person, making $45k, no kids, I get taxed and deductions of 21.89%, so really I'm only making $35k annually. With inflation up another 18-20%, I'm treading water. If someone comes at me with saying I get a nice tax return at the end of the year, that's b.s. A less than $1200 tax return is nothing compared to the $10k Uncle Sam already took away from me. I get taxed AGAIN!
I actually liked his advice to her. She is on the right track, just needed a bit of a push. I hope she gets mad about having to say no and becomes a beast as Dave said-so she can cruise into her 30s debt free and in total charge of her life. Best wishes to her!!!
It took me writing down a weekly/monthly budget to realize how I needed an extra gig. Totally worth it and it gives me power knowing where my money is going and how much I can set aside to spend and save each paycheck.
I’m glad I have no serious debt the only debt I have is $15 😂 which I’m going to pay back tomorrow morning
I'll always have Ramen no matter how broke or rich I get lol
Ramen is life
@Choice Italiano R-Amen!
Facts!
Make it at home 😊
Until you start to feel the detriments to your health when you age. I'm not just ragging on ramen, all cheap highly processed food.
We need the official Dave Ramsay cookbook on a budget!
Great idea. Beans and rice, rice and beans. Lol.
@@cutenobi need variations - spices, etc
@@cutenobi u stole my words 🙂
There are a couple good cookbooks out there already. Living on a Dime cookbook and the old standby the More with Less cookbook.
@@oliviafox6745 I cook a lot of things in a Dutch Oven made in France. While they are expensive, they are an investment, not a cost. You can make 10-12 servings of chili in one.
I am not struggling anymore, far from it. But still eat my favorite struggle meal often. Can of corn, fry it in olive oil until slightly brown, some salt on top. The best! The best things in life are free...or simple.
I’ll have to try that out! We need a Ramsey cookbook with simple, cheap ideas like that
@@goesbyAustin Agreed. How is there not a Beans & Rice cookbook yet?
@@eggsinsideme I'd love a struggle meal ramsey guide. Baked potatoes with salt/pepper are my struggle meal. It's like 16 cents per potato, and baked potatoes in an air fryer are so crispy and perfect. Not to mention filling and nutritious. Also Oatmeal for breakfast.
I love slow cooker cuban black beans and rice.
I love tuna, $.77 a can at Aldi, fills you up good especially with some salad greens from my garden:)
Mercury and microplastics
Don’t like plain tuna, but I’ll take a toasted tuna sandwich any day
Too much mercury! !
Tuna is trash from the farm high in mercury
@@MattPryze I just said the same thing!
sardine ie much healthier
Watching from South Africa,I love the show❤️❤️🧡💛💚💙
You are a wise man David Ramsey!
I love how Dave always gets perspective on their whole lives then teaches while the other hosts rush into talking through the baby steps
Hello everyone🙏🏼 have a blessed day!
From the lourd?
Just be like Dave and claim bankruptcy... he's such a good role model!
I completely agree with Dave. Tuna taste like poverty. Takes me back.

Her $3k should be the budget. Use fitness job money to pay down school loan principle.
Great Idea! I agree!
Dave talks about how debit cards have good protections.
Read the gazelle debit card disclosures. It's worst then cc's.
All CCs have TERRIBLE protections so it must be bad.
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508 This is just factually not true. Like you can easily google this. CC's have great consumer protections typically.
@@treyhall9138 🤣🤣🤣🤣 What most people call great is actually terrible, given that people have extremely low standards. That is factually true.

$200 a month on car insurance seems awful high. 🤔
Yeah. I'm 25 yo male and got a C8 corvette. It's $160/mo lol what is she driving?
Welcome to car insurance in Canada!
Maybe she should spend 15 minutes to get Geico and save 15% or more on car insurance. 🦎
Depends on where you live.
The food I will not eat anymore is beans. I ate so many bowls of beans when I was working my way through tech school I never want to eat another bean again.
Going out to eat and drink with her friends is not a need, it’s social entertainment at a premium cost. Saying no to yourself is the fallacy of this generation.
this call is a mess
😱😱 Dave actually said you can go out for drinks while on baby step 2 🤣🤣
I love you guys
I wonder how much her phone bill is.
Probably $80/month, but that's minute compared to $650 rent, student loan, and car note.
@@ceecee8757 I'll bet it's $100, at least. Plus the bar bill from the weekend, along with the eating out.
I am 💯 k in debt 💸! I feel ya
What education did you get for that tho?
60K in student loans for a 36K salary! Jesus.
People aren't very bright... school doesn't seem to help either. 😂
I love my lean cuisines though 🤣
She needs to get on an IDR repayment plan, assuming she has federal loans
Ramsey cut George real fast.
Cause dave is the alpha all the other hosts can't get to the point
@@fauxbro1983 dave is anything but, double standards for all the 'strong and independent' women
@@scottwyatt4988 No, he just requires men to act like men, and women to act like women. Those standards are not the same for someone of his faith and generation.
1:50 😅 jk
The price George must pay for that sweet gig.
Makes more money doing fitness classes than her job that required her to go to college and take out student loans.
Not much different than myself after getting my engineering degree. At first I wasn't making much more than as a personal trainer, but I am making a heck of a lot more in the long run.
@@darex0827 ummm, what kind of engineering degree did you get? Was becoming a professionally licensed engineer in the picture?
Not as a defense of her college degree.
But if she tried doing the fitness thing full time I guarantee she wouldn't be averaging $55 an hour.
That's quite ironic if you think about it.
Sounds like she doesn't really have a budget. That's where to start. Take care of the monthly recurring expenditures first and whatever is leftover gets thrown at the debt.
Nobody can get ahead with these prices! I feel it anywhere I go
Same!
Why is the loan so big? Should’ve got a degree where it’s worth the loan
What do you do when you're doing everything right but the jobs/income in the area aren't consistent enough? I live with my dad and can't get moved out so moving doesn't seem to be an option even tho it might be a solution
Get remote / online work. There is tons of opportunities out there. Also do local gig work where you can like mowing lawns, babysitting, shoveling snow, pizza delivery on weekends, etc. save up and move somewhere with more opportunities.
He's right about change and finding a why.
I get what Dave is saying about zero budgeting but 2-300 between paychecks is a decent amount of money if all of your basics are taken care of. She needs to stay out of the bars 🤣😂
$3k a month is not much. at least here in miami
“When I see the extra money I think that’s spendable income “
so there’s no point when there’s any money that she sees as useful to accumulate for the future . It’s all either being spent on bills or it’s spendable income .
That’s a tough mentality to succeed financially with .
Tanis, from Canada? Does she know Wayne and Darryl?
She is talking Canadian dollar, by the way
With a $200/mo. car insurance bill, she's either a poor driver, she owns a ridiculous car, or she's with the wrong insurance company. DON'T stay with the "big guys"! Do your research; there are small companies out there that will insure you for half of their rates.
Someone mentioned she lives in Canada and that car insurance is much higher than in the US.
I thought student loans were paused.
Canada
Y’all be so harsh on this girl when she is 25 and learning how to budget. She’s way ahead of most people at that age
Is not. She’s only 25 and already complaining about adulting. Too bad. You borrowed way. Ore m9e y than you should have for a degree that is t worth that much. She’s just like the rest of them whining after the fact
Dave should tell her to start an onlyfans

You don't have a No button , ha
File for bankruptcy or tell Brandon to hook you up.
Her margin for error is slim but possible
SHE NEEDS A ROOMATE TO SHARE HOUSEHOLD EXPENSES, STOP BUYING IPHONES, AND STAY OUT OF THE CLUB!
Do you not know how many roommates are broke and will end up leaching off her? That is not everyone but plenty of people don't make more than they spend so...... I suggest she search for hood rich not normal people!!!!
I love out self righteous Ramsey is, even when he's wrong, which is a good part of the time.
Feel free to tell us where he is factually wrong.
He's just behaving like the typical American.

Canada has different retirement accounts. They use TFSA and a few other options
"Wants" do not exist in baby step one and two.
Eww that’s gross 😂😂

Plus not all student loans are on pause, I’m in the US and I still have to pay on student loans
She may have a private student loan

Sh said 800 a month
I understand that she feels like she's saying so to everything. Dave's whole system stems from having no social life and no entertainment in your life. Sure, you can get out of debt quickly, but why not just make it take an extra year or two and have a life along the way.
Because eventually an emergency or a great deal or something will always come up in between living life. The whole point of having no life, no eating out, scorched earth is TO MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE. This makes you want to pay debt off faster and hopefully learn never to go backm
Because the idea is to be gazelle intense and get out of debt as quickly as possible. Then you can have an even better life.
There's plenty of good free entertainment. Most entertainment you have to pay for is not worth it and is a waste of time anyway.

When did she say her payments are on hold? She's in Canada, not the US.
Even if payments are on hold, that's when you should tackle them. There was no interest being charged for months and months in thr US. That savings is huge! It's the only way I was able to pay off my student loans without taking 5+ more years. The interest is what is brutal, so a wise person would throw everything at those payments when there's no interest. If you're delaying, you're just kicking the can down the loan.
