Hello, my dakota 2011 when taking temperature remains without advancing. I have to wait for it to cool down before I can move on. Returns the code P0740, do you know what the problem may be?
Mine went out and I found a video that described it to the tee. It gave the MOPAR part#. Do you happen to know it? The dealer said exact same thing you did. 99% sure this wouldn't fix it. It did. Now it's happened again, ...to another 2010 Chry T&C (both 3.8). They both shuddered and died in forward, went perfectly fine in reverse and could be driven by: 1. Avoiding stops if possible 2. Shifting to neutral just before stopping 3. Shifting into drive and applying throttle vigorously I drove each of them home from 300+ miles away. To sum up: This solenoid may not be the problem 99% of the time, but for me it's been the problem 100% of the time.

From experience these vans are notorious for chewing up torque converters due to improper shift programming from factory. After you get the torque converter replaced make sure to update the car to the newest software that improves shift quality.
I agree with the recommendation here. I just overhauled my family van transmission in my garage. The torque converter and input clutch set are the only parts you need to replace for that P0740. Should you replace the solenoid? That’s up to you. It’s easy enough to check the pin connectors to see how f you have a solenoid out of spec. But from personal experience from completing an overhaul on my 62TE at 164k miles the only parts needing replaced were the torque converter and input clutches. Save your money folks.
I have a 2009 routan and I have that code, it is always cold when the van starts to move slowly and when I stop it turns off, I don't know if it is a symptom of that code
I had my trans rebuilt and and new torque convertor and new solenoid pack . 3 months later Im having fuild leaking from breathing cap and car kinda doesnt go into drive right away it hesitates to go into gear. They didn't change that TCC sensor. I just order it and hope it corrects the problem. I already did the transmission fluid and filter just in case it was a filter problem and it didnt correct the problem.
I have a 2013 doge grand caravan thats stuck in limp mode. And its throwing a P0760 code overdrive solenoid contol circuit. Do you know which soliend this is or which one i have to change?
I have a 2019 Caravan GT.. transmission was replaced at 180k miles which is verified by carfax, AMCOO & owner had receipt - Previous owner used van to do uber. The van is immaculate and a lot of service records - So far only issue I had was replacing the dreaded oil filter housing everyone replaces with the upgraded metal DORMAN housing. Well, I just bought the van off him at 240k (Never owned a caravan before) I feel like it has loud air like swoosh sound when I take off & accelerate. (Transmission shifts perfect when I drive) But also sometimes from drive to reverse and reverse to drive it might turn off. Today got the P0868 Code. I read somewhere it could be the TCC Solenoid? or Is it the convertor? or the trans fluid pressure sensor itself? I just purchased the trans filter & fluid to do a service next week as well. (No check engine light but when I scanned it that code came up) I will also change the alternator this weekend as it was flooded with oil due to the oil filter house leaking. (The battery light came on - we suspect since alt got oil and belt as well - it was not charging battery right) But there's definitely something going on in the trans due to the loud swoosh and P0868 code. Any help is appreciated. PS: at idle my torque convertor slip is at about 60. (I have no driven it with the scanner connected to see the torque convertor slip results)
got salvage 2019 van with 85k miles, with hydro locked engine, replaced the engine along with reman torque converter, got it from rockauto, after the assembly getting p0740. So going to replace this solenoid and see where it goes. How is it likely I got a bad TC?
Also what prechecks should be done? How would you check the wiring? I mean, I know you'd use a multimeter, but I've no clue what and where the wiring is and I don't know what specs to check for.
"I'm going to show you how to replace the torque converter"..... 1 second later..... "I forgot to record how to replace the torque converter" So what was the point of this video again? Basically got Zero info from this. Lol
Did your gearbox problems with slipping is solved? I have opel insignia with f..in slip problems, gearbox was overhauled. I put new Valve body, remanufactured torque converter and still have slipping it seems to be problem with tcu or wiring 😕
So if you replace two parts at the same time and the issue is fixed, you never really know what part fixed what. Unless he cuts open the TC and looks at the clutch. The TCC valve CAN become clogged up since most owners never replace the transmission fluid. I'd spend $50 on a sensor unless before I dump a grand into a TC replacement.
Dealer Tech here, great repair. 99.9% its never the solenoid. Great video my friend. Liked and subscribed.

What if it won’t shift into 3 or 4th

Good info! I have a 135k 14 TC with this code only. Shifts fine. fluid is clean with many changes. Looks like the torque converter is done.

@mikec2220 so where to go, how does one update the software to improve shifting?

Very good job explaining things, thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
Nice clean job your doing just like when I went to Porter and chester institute.
Honest explanation thank you

Cool. Thanks. But you can do it without removing the gearbox. You can open the solenoid box right on the car.
Excelente video me podrias decir si en un Dodge avenger 2013 2.4 lts ese sensor esta en la misma ubicación?
Saludos
So if I change the solenoid can It fix it for alil while before needing to change the torque converter??

im about to replace the torque converter, do you recommend replacing the solenoid as well if i'm going to sell the minivan in the next 2 months?
Me gusta el video mas que tienes en español muy chido
What’s about the electrical connecting that’s possibly leaking
Which Autel scanner did you use?

Very likely , just check what I mentioned in the video. It will give you a. Good idea what’s going on
Did you perform a transmission relearn and clear the old values on the new trans instal?
What's the Mopar number on the solenoid you replaced?
I'm guessing the transmission needs removed to access the torque converter?
Also what prechecks should be done? How would you check the wiring? I mean, I know you'd use a multimeter, but I've no clue what and where the wiring is and I don't know what specs to check for.
did you get this code from the tcm? my obd only ecm. the tcm scanner is 600 bucks. ridiculous.
I’m on a magnum and at 142 k miles with this code

i just subscribed, and liked. I have the p0740 code, do you suggest i replace the front pump as well?
are you getting this code with a standard obd scanner? or an expensive 600 scanner

@@anthonyt6160 thanks for responding I guess I’m good for a few more miles but the slipping and shakes have begun.
Damn!! mine started doing the same thing today i guess im dropping the trans out of it. did the cradle give you any issues getting the trans out?
Well i does have torque converter slip but that's another story.

Check your transfer case if you have a four-by-four the linkage could be disconnected
Someone just parked there car in my drive due to this problem. Gave them a ride home
bro i have no problem with my trans, but i have the code p0740 ?!

It was replaced to prevent any future problems , the tC was definitely bad
Why wouldn't you just replace the easy and cheap part first and test. What was cost of parts?
It’s wasn’t the problem, it was replaced to avoid any future issues with it
@@lilrider100 seems like a large job for prevention
answer question encouragement. In your case, the car, you and I, turned off every once in a while.
How much does this cost to repair
He did it himself but this is like 6 hours of labor for someone experienced.
I just got done replacing this solenoid and the same p0740 code popped up. What else should I look into?
How much did repair cost? If you don't mind
@@blackdiamondA1 ended up trading the car in.
@@xavierbuscato9427 oh ishhhhh hopefully it's covered under my full train warranty lol
Its NEVER the solenoid, always the T/Conv. You wasting time replacing that solenoid for this code/problem.
