i have a 2009 chrysler town and country with the 3.8 V-6 with the 62TE 6 speed automatic transmission with 215.000 miles on the van. a month ago it went into limp mode and will not shift into the higher gears but when i park and turn the engine off and then restart it the trans will shift just fine for about 5 blocks then drops back into lower gear and limp mode. the code PO76A SHIFT SOLENOID H MALFUNCTION came up. i have changed the trans fluid and the filter recently. if i change out the solenoid pack will this repair the issue ? your opinion would be appreciated.

Hey Cam, we have a 2015 caravan with all the same issues, does anyone know what the tcc solenoid is supposed to ohm out to when good, she has not thrown a code yet. Thanks
I also have a 2015. Mine does everything you’re talking about stalls at stoplights after I’ve driven along distance, but the check engine light never came on.
Your torque converter possibly locked up. Suggest getting it scanned by dodge. They will have more better idea what's going on then you can take the proper actions
Hi Cam that's for posting video. My dodge journey 2011 engine light came on. 127km no tranny service recommended until 125km or 130km. Car seems to run bit sluggish 0-40km only. Po740code tcc slipping dealer wants$1650.7hrs labour! $450 for converter! You said$40cdn?
Wow . The torque converter rebuilt was only 300. You can get one probably off rock auto. But the solenoid for the clutch is at dodge. I would highly highly recommend changing the solenoid first if the solenoid doesnt work you will get fluid by pass causing slippage
Is there a lot of fluid in the top pan of the 62te?...I replaced my fluid first and erased the code...didn't come back for 3 months...came back today thinking about doing the solenoid, is there a lot of fluid that would drain out of the top pan?
Hi Alan i have the same problem but my question is how you know the problem was the solenoid and not the converter since you changed them both please let me know thank you
This is Cam. Lol 😂 you should change the solenoid first as if controls the pressure to the torque converter and the part is like thirty dollars. Labour is about 1.5 only
@@camsautofix yes we changed the filter and the fuild and the gasket. So we ordered the other sensors . Waiting for them ti come in. I ordered mine from rockauto.they are way cheaper then dodge dealer or napa. And there dodge Dodge parts.

Hi Cam, I'm in Thornhill so probably a bit far for me to drive. Too bad because I'm looking for a mechanic to work on my 2011 Chrysler Town & Country, bought used one year ago. 145K km. Runs very well. I have a P0740 with the occasional hard shift from park to drive along with what seems to be a communication issue in the CAN Bus system. Van would shut off a few seconds after using the push start button (using the key fob is fine). I actually changed the fuel pump relay in the TIPM but it didn't make a difference. The remote start works but then shuts off a few seconds later. Sometimes, the hazard lights come on when I open the driver side sliding door and several times the Nav wouldn't come on at start up but would work fine the next day. Thanks for getting back to me. Let me know when you open up in Toronto!!!
Try look at your freeze frame data. It will tell you when the car is acting up. You can replace the part if you like to. But first try to see if it was just a glitch.
One of the most useless videos I have ever seen. It shows a picture of the trans with the heat shield and solenoid pack cover removed - and that's it. NO useful pictures or video of how to remove these items, which is the biggest part of this repair job.

Best thing to look at first is a diagnose . Depending whats the problem it will put you in limp mode . I'll assist you along your way
Might be a bad valve in the body causing your vehicle to go in limp mode.

Thanks for sharing this does the torque converter and solenoid come together and where did you buy Torque converter and how much was it?
I bought my converter at a tranny shop thats rebuilt for 280. The solenoid was at dodge for under 40 dollars

To do that you need the clutch solenoid. Rtv gasket and that's it..you can go additional and get new fluid and filter to work on the bottom Pan too
Took me 2 hrs only to change filter and solenoid. After fixing out the torque converter was not the problem smh lol
Does the transmission have to be removed to replace the solenoid?
no

I just got done replacing this solenoid and the same p0740 code popped up. What else should I look into?
