Thank you for your DIY video on how to replace lamp for my Mitsubishi TV. I didn't put the cover back on after screwing the bulb in and you have to otherwise it just flashes a light color and will not power up all the way. I took out, pout it back in several times before I listened to what you said after replacing bulb to replace cover and VOILA beautiful picture. I did purchase a Mitsubishi bulb from Ebay for around $70 but it was worth buying it verses the statements I've heard others here on the site say the cheaper one had issues and went out after a few months when they purchased the cheaper ones. I followed your instructions with ease and I want to thank you again for your video. My husband wanted to call someone to come put it in instead of giving me a chance. When I got it put in he said didn't work did it and I told him no I got it and TV is playing very well.
I've purchased from two different eBay sellers and they ship from amazon free for about 25 dollars!! Great buy it seems, good communication, one year warranty, and they have sent me three replacements quickly. After trying a new seller and again getting the the orange blinking light and shutting off randomly for the fourth time in five months I'm thinking it's not the bulb because the tv turns back on shortly after. I've seen something about door sensors and I did replace a chip for spots that started to appear about a year ago... first five years not one thing happened , so I'm thinking it's something simple and I just haven't figured it out... I'll reset again and hoping that someone else with the 73 inch Tv can chime in or relate to this situation
Awesomeness thanks 😊 we just experienced a loud pop so landed on your video... now we know what to do... Thanks 🙏 Have a great weekend PeaceLove&GodBless
Wow! Thanks a lot! We were really bummed about our tv going out and dreaded having to pay someone to come out and just look at to only charge more to order and labor. Thanks! I see you recommended we could by it from Amazon! Thanks again!
I have 73 inch 3d dlp the white is color is looking pink n pixellated does anyone have any suggestions of what it mite b when I cut off then back on sumtimes it goes away
Hey, if it looks like there’s a bunch of flakes all over the screen almost looks like stars or something in space. Is this the same issue or does it just need to be cleaned from the inside?
therealcobraburnout, when your lamp/bulb made a loud pop and the picture went out.. would your tv still give you sound and show a red light instead of the green light where the power button is on the tv? I think my lamp/bulb just blew out on mine and I want to make sure that is what it is before I order the part.
therealcobraburnout, it was my lamp/bulb. I took it out and that was my problem. Thanks for sharing your video, it will be an easy inexpensive fix that I can do myself.
Thanks for the video. When I got my new one in I noticed the new screws on the new bulb housing don't quite reach the point far enough to screw them in. I turn them clockwise and they just keep turning and turning and don't catch the female end. Any ideas?
+Scott Peters Hmmm. Is the bulb seated all the way? You got push a bit from my experience. Other than that compare the brackets and screws with the one you took out to see if they are different size. Good luck
Just installed a new lamp for my 70 inch Mitsubishi bought it on ebay new for 27 bucks installed works even brighter then b4 bit smells like plastic burning amy idea what I should do?
I have a question so when it blows out your screen is just black right, because my screen blew out and it’s black but in order to get it back on I needa new tv lamp?
caroyln Ferro I not able to reply directly to your comment for some reason. But in this vid I used one of the generics found on Amazon.com. It worked great however it did not last as long as the OEM original from Mitsubishi. It only lasted slightly over 1 year. I had to replace it again. I used another generic one from Amazon.com but the thing is they don't list who actually makes it. My latest one was made in Mexico and cost about 18 bucks. So far so good but I don't expect it to last as long as original. Kind of a tradeoff I guess. Cheap price for shorter life. It does have a good picture so I'm happy with the purchase.
Problem... I touched the bulb, and now it has a fingerprint on it. How would you recommend cleaning the bulb? Just a damp paper towel, microfiber, or what? Also, I rarely use the speakers, but noticed they don't work - and I can't get my big guns into the tiny service holes on the sides. Ideas? Thanks for the video! NOTE: For anyone doing this, make sure you buy the bulb in the housing! I have purchased just the bulb before, and it was a pain...
I would say microfiber or a soft rag to be on the safe side. As for speakers...well you could hook up some external ones. Could be a nice excuse to buy a surround sound system.
what I'm trying to say is I have little white dots on my screen as if the color is going out or something. by replacing the bulb would it illuminate the white dots on my screen?
chad milbourn No. Sounds like a problem with the DLP mirrors. Basically there are little tiny mirrors that flip on and off to reflect light on to screen.
Maybe try doing a system reset. Open the front panel by pushing on it. Pressing on the panel releases the lock and allows the front panel to pop open slightly. Pull the corner gently to open the panel completely. Use a pointed object, such as the sharpened end of a pencil or the tip of a paper clip, to push the "System Reset" button. Wait about one minute, or until the LED light on the front panel display stops flashing.
Hello, i pray you still have this channel. My husband just purchased a bulb for our 73 inch Mitsubishi and installed just now. So my question is after installed then what? We plugged t.v in but all we get is a yellow blinking light. Is this normal? Is this normal or do we need to do something else? lord, i hope you still have your notifications on for this channel. FYI T.V has been out of service for about 2 months or maybe more until we came across your very helpful video. smile
I AM KISHA J MCRAE That usually means the lamp door is not tight enough. Check it, tighten if needed. Unplug TV from wall socket --Tighten up screws on lamp door. Hold power button on TV for 60 seconds then plug in turn on
thank you so much. We were so anxious to get the darn bulb in and totally forgot about the lamp door lmbo. So we solved that and thank you. Now we just need to get a signal for the T.V any ideas what could be the issue? We have it on HDMI 3 because it wasn't working for the other ones. We thought it was channel 03 the t.v was on, but not working just getting a fizzle or no signal keep coming up.
what brand lamp did you use. seeing a lot of bad reviews on no name brand bulbs not working out. They run about 21. or is it best to purchase the phillips OEM original lamp for 83.? does it make a difference?
Hey, l bought a lamp from Amazon that was supposed to fit my 2011 73” Mitts 3D DLP HDTV. The one they sent, has the plug on the bottom right side, of it, when the lamp is facing left direction. On my TV, the plug faces same side as lamp, on the bottom, but 1.7” up from it. (I ordered one for 73737) What is the correct lamp? Would you please link me? I don’t have book or anything about my TV, as the guys who installed it took the box, and Mitsubishi said it was taped to the bottom. Amazon says l only bought 1 lamp. I know I have bought 5 including 2 wrong ones (this one included) one every 21/2 years it seems. On Bright! What lamp do l need?
You'll need your actual TV model number to look up the correct lamp. Mitsubishi made different models of the same size. but from what I've seen most in that era use Mitsubishi Bulb Part Number 915B403001. Your TV model number should be marked on a decal somewhere on the back of your TV. I have the link for the bulb I used in the description of this vid but here it is again: amzn.to/2mCAhhI . However, this vid is a bit old and seems like the reviews for the bulb are up and down now. They usually last me about a year to a year and half. TV sees moderate to heavy use. I suspect all these generic substitute bulbs are substandard in some fashion. But way cheaper than original replacement.
Oh, here is the link to the TV Manual for my model number. It covers alot of model numbers that you will see listed in the manual. www.mitsubishi-tv.com/asset/file/owners_guide/C9-737-837_OG.pdf
TheRealCobraBurnout Thanks so much. I still have no clue how those two workers from the truck delivery, wouldn’t look in the box. Also if l didn’t like it (well that would be impossible,but..)l would need the box to have them come get it...oh l see.
@@johnconnor4630 I've had mine for about 9 1/2 years. Still love it! Yes, it would be cool to one day get a thin LED to wall mount but this old DLP projection tv has a great picture.
TheRealCobraBurnout l have a 55” 4K TV in the living room. My 73” Mits is in my bedroom. One day, l will go for a thin wall mounted 65” in here (I actually ordered the 65”(non 3D) from HSN, and because they ran out of them, they gave me a free upgrade to the 3D 73” and two pairs of really good pairs of 3D glasses with 3 sets of batteries per pair. I still use them, but not as often, because my lady doesn’t watch 3D.. The lady l had back then loved it! Oh well!
not sure if you can answer my question. I have the 82" and the picture just does not seem very bright anymore. Does this mean my bulb is going out? Are there more than one bulb?
Just an FYI, I've found that the generic once on Amazon.com work good but don't last as long as they claim. But I still went with that the second time my bulb went out..so much cheaper. The vendors on their vary so I go with one that has Prime shipping. Easier to return that way if something is wrong with it.
I replaced mine for the second time in a year. When I put this last one in, I have to press "power" every few minutes, for up to 90 minutes and sometimes longer. Once in awhile, it comes on on the first power up...but not often. Let it be known, my next TV WILL NOT have a bulb.
My started to dim. I cranked up the brightness and it went for a few months like that no problems. Then the bulb Blew out with a load pop. It was toast.
therealcobraburnout Whats up? I have a wd-73c9 that i bought from a friend about 5 months ago. i noticed the other day that the picture is really dark. it shows but you almost have to strain to see it. I tried to brighten it up in the settings but that doesnt help. Is this a sign of the bulb going bad?
Hi, I have the 73" Diamond series and the picture is getting dark. I can't even watch 3D movies because it's getting too dark. Will the lamp solve that issue? Thanks
I have this same code. No pic no sound. Called mitsubishi, they sent me a $140.00 bulb that changed nothing. Did you resolve the problem? HELP! (6 red blinks one orange
Sounds like your DLP Chip, which can also be replaced. ShopJimmy has a video up on replacing that chip, and the still photo next to his video shows a DLP with white dots all over. Probably not your lamp, but if you haven't replaced it in a while, I recommend you do that while you are in there...
chad milbourn it's called pixels a rectangle silver piece has to be replaced it's happened to our tv already started with one spot then a couple then a million spots horrible 8)
Hey man, I grabbed a bulb from Amazon for my WD-82738, and right after I replaced it, the picture comes back, but after about 30-60 seconds starts flickering different colors and then it shuts itself off. Any ideas?
Sounds like you need to do a TV reset. I've heard of this happening. It didn't with mine but others have said they had to do this. Hold power button on front panel for 10 seconds to reset TV. • If LED continues to flash red and yellow after reset, turn off the TV and unplug it from the AC power source. Wait one minute and then plug the set back in. • If LED continues to flash red and yellow, go to www.mitsubishi-tv.com or call 1-800-332-2119 to receive Authorized Service Center information.
therealcobraburnout Yeah. I even figured wth, maybe I can just swap the housings, and use the generic bulb. Nope totally different connector on the top. Oh well, live and learn heh
When changing my bulb I ,as suggested by the insert that came with the bulb, took a can of air to clean the area surrounding where the bulb fits back in to. Now when I turn on my TV I have a lot of tiny blinking spots on the side in which the bulb came out of. Does ANYBODY what damage I have done to my once beautiful TV?? Is the problem fixable? ANY help will greatly appreciated. I hate the thought of trashing my 60' TV????
That usually means the lamp door is not tight enough. Check it, tighten if needed. Unplug TV from wall socket --Tighten up screws on lamp door. Hold power button on TV for 60 seconds then plug in turn on
TheRealCobraBurnout yeah i figured it out earlier but that's exactly what the problem was i tried to try it out before tightening the screws...thanks for responding tho
I have a 73 inch Mitsubishi television the Green Light will power on but no sound or picture would that be the lamp as well we was watching it one day turned it off to go to bed the next day it wouldn't do nothing the light came on green but no picture or sounds could you please help me
+therealcobraburnout ours lasted since Christmas 2009 so nearly 6 years...surprised too kids always leave it on and leave it for hours with their games paused smh...alright going to have to get a new bulb and change it out myself :) thanks for the know how ;)
+therealcobraburnout thanks I've built computers before I think I got this lol just wasn't sure on the route to take lol got it now cuz ur tutorial you done good
Not blown completely but the bulb was showing ware and about to blow its really dark and burned inside but I even clean the inside of the compartment where the bulb goes and I still get a crappy dark picture and then it shuts it self off
Sounds like something more serious than the bulb. I snagged the below information from a quick google search: That's a clear indication that you have a bad power supply in your TV. If you know how to DiY...I suggest you open your TV. Locate the power supply section, it is where the end of the power plug is connected. Replace all blown or bulge or leaked capacitors with same value. That will fix your TV problem. The hardest part is to disassembling your TV cover, cause you will need to pry off the snap in lock at the edge of your TV. Power supply board should look like this. Examine the capacitors in the board After replacing blown capacitors...it should work again. Things you will need. 1. A plastic flat end screw or any object with flat ends....to fry off the cover 2. Soldering iron. 3. Soldering lead 4. Soldering pump. 5. Flat and Philip Screw 6. Replacement capacitors (of same value with the blown one) that you can buy to any electronics store. Or try replace light engine..if the above solution won't work..
Was the old bulb you pulled out blown? Mine was totally obvious that it blew out as it happened while we had the tv on. Load pop and blackness. The old bulb itself was filled with exploded 'bulb' stuff.
Hi... when i plug in my tv a green light blanks 50times after the green light stop blanking then i go to cut on my tv then it cuts off after 10secs of being cut on then it blanks red 3times and then it turns orange and that blanks 7times... can you help me out
Mine did something similar once..Wouldn't stay on, automatically shut off and just blinked red. Got to where it wouldn't turn back on. I changed the bulb..and it works again. I'm on the 3rd bulb with this TV but the last 2 have been generics off Amazon.com and don't last as long as factory OEM bulb
+therealcobraburnout Preciate that man seriously my bulb just came in im bout to follow your directions and put this bulb in and ill hit you back after i put it in and hopefully it works...and yes I order mines off Amazon too.. once again appreciate man salute!
Bulb may not be seated properly. Try removing, inspect connector for damage. Reinstall, making sure its seated. Its always possible that you received a bad bulb or it was damaged in shipping.
SYSTEM RESET If the TV does not respond to the remote control, control-panel buttons, or will not power on/off, press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds. The TV will turn off. Power on the TV and the green LED will flash quickly for about one minute. The changes you made most recently, before using SYSTEM RESET, may be lost.
+TheRealCobraBurnout can you please tell me how do I stream on this TV I never used the feature and just recently bought the little toggle I got the Internet connection made with the TV but don't know what to do next as I moved and don't know where my manual is
Tonya Bailey Plug in your device (amazon fire stick, blue ray with wifi or whatever) and select the input you have it plugged into. As in HDMI 1, HDMI 2. Then boom your streaming.
+TheRealCobraBurnout oh I do that already I thought you could do it without putting the stick on the TV since the TV can connect to the Internet thanks
Prices vary but looks like they are about 20 bucks on Amazon right now. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007MBGQJO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just keep in mind that one is generic and not made by Mitsubishi so sometimes they don't last as long...but way cheaper than the one from Mitsubishi.
I had a blinking light after I replaced it but it wouldn't power on and it did come up after I put the cover back on. You also have to get the Mitsubishi bulb and not a cheap No Brand one. Spend the extra instead.
first (factory) bulb popped many years ago and screen went dark but could hear audio. I've had cheap knock off bulbs do the same but the last one just made the top portion of the screen look purple as it died.
This helped me install my lamp. Thank you! It was very helpful. It took me less than 10 minutes and my tv works perfect! 👏👏👏
Glad it helped!

man i have the exact same TV 65 inch but it has dots all over it if I replace this bulb will it take those dots away u think?
Dots? Sounds like something with the DLP mirrors. I don't have a solution for that problem as I have not run across it yet. Sorry
Sounds like your DLP Chip, which can also be replaced. ShopJimmy has a video up on replacing that chip, and the still photo next to his video shows a DLP with white dots all over. Probably not your lamp, but if you haven't replaced it in a while, I recommend you do that while you are in there...
I had that same issue and had to replace a chip. It's working great!
chad milbourn it's called pixels a rectangle silver piece has to be replaced it's happened to our tv already started with one spot then a couple then a million spots horrible 8)
• If LED continues to flash red and yellow after reset, turn off
the TV and unplug it from the AC power source. Wait one
minute and then plug the set back in.
• If LED continues to flash red and yellow, go to
www.mitsubishi-tv.com or call 1-800-332-2119 to receive
Authorized Service Center information.
therealcobraburnout Yeah I tried that unfortunately. I think I'm just going to return the generic and grab an OEM. Thanks for the quick reply!
Sure. Too bad it didn't work out for you. I guess it may be a gamble with the generic bulbs.
therealcobraburnout Yeah. I even figured wth, maybe I can just swap the housings, and use the generic bulb. Nope totally different connector on the top. Oh well, live and learn heh
Dang. I hate it didn't work out for you. Let me know if the factory bulb works.
+Sandra Drummond Dang that's terrible. My instructions didn't say to do that. Hope you didn't mess up those tiny mirrors in the DLP.
therealcobraburnout Thanks
Going to purchase a new DLP and hope that clears everything up.
i just replaced the bulb in my 73C10 model and no picture just a flashing yellow/orange light...any suggestions?
That usually means the lamp door is not tight enough. Check it, tighten if needed.
Unplug TV from wall socket --Tighten up screws on lamp door. Hold power button on TV for 60 seconds then plug in turn on
TheRealCobraBurnout yeah i figured it out earlier but that's exactly what the problem was i tried to try it out before tightening the screws...thanks for responding tho
Awesome! I'm glad you got it working!
I remember my first time changing the bulb it was fun but that much
I have a 73 inch Mitsubishi television the Green Light will power on but no sound or picture would that be the lamp as well we was watching it one day turned it off to go to bed the next day it wouldn't do nothing the light came on green but no picture or sounds could you please help me
Usually the sound still plays but not always.
Every time i order the bulb the screws don't fit , can you help me with that ?
No, I won't be able to help with that.
Rear projection bulbs are meant to be replaced by the owner. It would be ridiculous to have a repair man do it.
did your tv have a red light instead of green when it burnt out?
never mind I seen it was red...we didnt hear a pop so wondered maybe if it was something else...darn its probably the bulb but ours blew quietly lol
+RabekaJo I had one burn out quietly once as well. new bulb fixed it.
+therealcobraburnout ours lasted since Christmas 2009 so nearly 6 years...surprised too kids always leave it on and leave it for hours with their games paused smh...alright going to have to get a new bulb and change it out myself :) thanks for the know how ;)
+RabekaJo your welcome and good luck. Hope it goes smoothly
I snagged the below information from a quick google search:
That's a clear indication that you have a bad power supply in your TV.
Examine the capacitors in the board
After replacing blown capacitors...it should work again.
Things you will need.
1. A plastic flat end screw or any object with flat ends....to fry off the cover
2. Soldering iron.
3. Soldering lead
4. Soldering pump.
5. Flat and Philip Screw
6. Replacement capacitors (of same value with the blown one) that you can buy to any electronics store.
Or try replace light engine..if the above solution won't work..
can i improvise for the door? because i dont have the door
I did every step you did with a new light bulb and my screen is still really dark and it shuts down after a few minutes
Was the old bulb you pulled out blown? Mine was totally obvious that it blew out as it happened while we had the tv on. Load pop and blackness. The old bulb itself was filled with exploded 'bulb' stuff.
Hi... when i plug in my tv a green light blanks 50times after the green light stop blanking then i go to cut on my tv then it cuts off after 10secs of being cut on then it blanks red 3times and then it turns orange and that blanks 7times... can you help me out
+Mr King did you change your bulb?
+therealcobraburnout NO
+therealcobraburnout Do you think that just might be the problem?
Mine did something similar once..Wouldn't stay on, automatically shut off and just blinked red. Got to where it wouldn't turn back on. I changed the bulb..and it works again. I'm on the 3rd bulb with this TV but the last 2 have been generics off Amazon.com and don't last as long as factory OEM bulb
+therealcobraburnout Preciate that man seriously my bulb just came in im bout to follow your directions and put this bulb in and ill hit you back after i put it in and hopefully it works...and yes I order mines off Amazon too.. once again appreciate man salute!
Changed bulb tv gets to welcome screen now but my green light is still flashing
When your tv broke would the lights still come up
+Samael Huante You mean the little green light on the front? IF so then yes
What if the lamp dont snaps in its still loose cant screw the screws in
probably not seated into the channel correctly. as the lamp is installed it needs to kine up with the slots and will allow it to plug in.
The screws wont screw like there to short
Its in there snu tight just the same as my bad one except the screws are too short. They are shit who sells something with screws unfitable
why does the red status light come on after i just changed the bulb
Bulb may not be seated properly. Try removing, inspect connector for damage. Reinstall, making sure its seated. Its always possible that you received a bad bulb or it was damaged in shipping.
Thank you.Sir
+Manny Paulin Awesome. I hope it helped. I like saving people money for stuff they can do so easy themselves.
So what dose it mean when it stay on for five minutes then turns off
Not sure. Maybe getting too hot?
what if the bulb does NOT want to come out?
Make sure the fasteners are backed all the way out and give it a good yank.
how do i reset my tv after i changed the tv bulb??need help
SYSTEM RESET
If the TV does not respond to the remote control, control-panel buttons, or will not power on/off, press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds.
The TV will turn off. Power on the TV and the green LED will flash quickly for about one minute. The changes you made most recently, before using SYSTEM RESET, may be lost.
how do u know what lamp to buy?
I can't get the screws back in the lamp not the back
Make sure lamp is in alignment and full seated. Remove and reinstall if necessary.
73 inch DLP TV with the Mitsubishi it comes on for. A few seconds you can hear sound then shit off checks off blinks six times red one time yellow
damn
Thank you
Mines went out no pic or sound power is on
how much for the bulb
Prices vary but looks like they are about 20 bucks on Amazon right now. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007MBGQJO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just keep in mind that one is generic and not made by Mitsubishi so sometimes they don't last as long...but way cheaper than the one from Mitsubishi.
I replaced the bulb and I get no lights
Same here
I had a blinking light after I replaced it but it wouldn't power on and it did come up after I put the cover back on. You also have to get the Mitsubishi bulb and not a cheap No Brand one. Spend the extra instead.
Fixed mines aswell
nice!
And I hope you know you’re not supposed to touch the bulb
never touch the bulb
Niceeeeee!!!!
my light is blinking green
thank you for your video, i think i can do mines myself and save me a few coins.
Was your tv screen black when it went out?
first (factory) bulb popped many years ago and screen went dark but could hear audio. I've had cheap knock off bulbs do the same but the last one just made the top portion of the screen look purple as it died.
How do I know what lamp to order?
I put a link in the vid description
@@TheRealCobraBurnout Thanks again I figured it out,and ordered what I needed.
