Just want to say THANK YOU so much for posting this! It was as easy as you showed, it gave our tv brand new life! Went from couldn’t watch tv in day time, at night no lights could be on. Now here we are all lights on in the day can see the tv. Our model WD-73642 It was the same exchange the process.
Thank you for this video. Though I do not have the same model, it is still good to see how to take apart the same type. Using this video I was able to find out where the bulb was on the TV, and how to figure out the model bulb I needed and what to do to keep a bulb for spare if it is not in the worst condition.
We have TWO, but FINALLY got a flat panel LG tv at Costco for ~$1000 - 82" - CRAZY! Cheaper than my last DLP!??!?! HOW?!?!? Loved that Mitsubishi, but the bright room was more of an issue than anything at the end. Our old house was way better for the DLP, but even here, it held up good. Bulbs are not hard to replace, so might as well stretch as much life out of the TV as possible.
For sure G Bro! I was scared to death the first time I had to replace a bulb...but I also didn't get the housing back in the day on my first DLP that had a bulb go out...I had to installed the bulb inside the housing.
Brian. Nothing wrong with keeping up old tech. I have a first gen Plasma TV. Still going 💪 strong. P.S. Like the looks of the HH Twin Otter on the dining table too...👊. I need to watch your video on it. Thanks for sharing.😉
For sure! It's a keeper, btw. I hope you'll check out the video when you can. I love when I get tech that does the job for a good price...then I will keep it till I die, unless something WAY better comes into my life...but you know how it is....upgrade TV, next thing you know, it's a new AVR, BlueRay player, PS4, then a new Satellite box, then new cabling, then new speakers...the list keeps going on and on... I'm kind of a sucker for Home Theater, so we have this one setup pretty nice, and I still think it out performs most modern movie theaters...I can't pause that movie and take a piss ;) LOL!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I love this TV, even though we could upgrade to an LED TV of some sort. It's just so cheap to keep it running, and it's big too!
Great video, mines just burned out and I bought I was buying off market ones but this time around I bought an OEM obviously more expensive but let's hope it lasts. Would you know what should be the best settings for light bulb longevity? Like brightness, color, ect. Thanks again for the video!
I want it bright as possible, but we just finally upgraded out main TV to a flat screen to save about 24 inches of depth in our living room. Loved the DLP's we've had though, and I would just run the bulb as bright as you need to see with any ambient light. Also run the contrast as high as you can get it (until it starts to look strange). Hope your OEM option works out well for you!
Hey do you know if this would work for the model WD-73642? Our tv looks so much like yours. You know if the link you have for the bulb would work for my model?
I don't know for sure. I think your model is the same size as ours, only one step down...but I have to assume the bulb would be the same. It's an easy replacement, just be careful not to touch it with bare hands, which can shorten the life of your bulb.
Because it was getting dim, and hard to see. It's SOOOOO much brighter and better now. This DLP is our second one, and it's bigger, cost half what we paid for the first one, and it's never "burned out"....it had only faded to the point that we wanted to improve the video quality, and this was our second time. We still only have about $1,200 + ~$150 (two bulbs over it's life...actually, we still have all three, because I keep everything!) in this TV for the last ~10 years...but it's only 1080P. We've never had anything in 4K anyway, so no trouble there.

Excellent! Glad we could help you out!

I still have the 92" of this Mitsu TV. A great TV. It's still like new in performance.

Thank you guys. Its like most thing, it's only hard if you don't know. Most things are easy once you know. That may sound dumb but it's true.
