I'm an Aussie who has lived in Germany (Munich) and although Germany is a very nice place, I could never live there when i compare it to Australia, especially Sydney where I am from. It is so much better in Australia in every way. You will love it and be very happy with your decision! You are also very brave and should be very proud of yourself!
I totally agree! Germany is not bad, it’s okay to live there but definitely not great. With the weather conditions there it will never be great and Australia has so much more to offer in terms of beaches, nature, animals etc. 3 months in and I‘m loving it so far!!
left Korea at 26 too pretty much the same situation as you were. landed in Sydney and it was bit rough at first but I'm still here after almost two years now planning on going to college to take a path to get a permanent residency. My life still isn't easy to be honest but at least here I have purpose and free. Good luck to you fellow backpacker!

Had the same feelings as you when I was younger, and it led to me moving to another city (Melbourne) for 5 years after living my whole life in Sydney.. and then again the chance to move away to the UK for work. I got to travel a lot in that 7 year period too so what was interesting for me was the homesickness combined with seeing Sydney in a much better light having moved away from it. Have been back here since 2018 and whilst it's not a perfect city, it does have such a great balance of weather, opportunity and people. I know not everyone will have the same experience as me, but when you find the things that tick the boxes that you need to live a happy life, you damn well better do your best be in that place. 35 years here, I arrived from Ireland to have a working holiday. Ended up getting married and staying. (Yes it caused horrendous problems re visas and such like) We moved from WA to Tasmania 10 years ago and are now retired and living our best life. I hope Australia is as good to you and it was to us. My one tip.. travel every chance you get, this country has so many faces and moods. ❤

Best decision you ever made. I first came to Australia 64 years ago, married a local and stayed. Left a couple of times for career and vacations but always returned.
I don't know how I ended up here, however, I find the way you tell your stories very nice, very slowed paced, and... somehow, simple, in an era where everything happens so quick. I moved to Sydney from the UK about 15 years ago. There are many things I miss about the UK and there are many things I dislike about Australia but Australia is, and lets be honest, paradise compared to the UK.
Well done you, you only have now, tomorrow is not promised so if not now, when?! Be so very proud of yourself because it's no easy thing to jump headfirst into change. I did it myself 15 years ago and now I live in paradise. My young self wouldn't recognise me, or where I'd be today. 😊 Enjoy your new life, whatever happens, it's all future memories!

You'll be fine, don't you worry. I moved to Munich, Germany when I was 32. I was there for a year, then moved back to Finland. I loved Munich, but that wasn't meant to be more than a year due work. Seven years later I moved to Sydney, and I am here to stay. You will fit right in. There will be people and things you will miss from home, but thankfully communication nowadays works fine (time difference aside). There's nothing worse than feeling trapped, feeling like you can't leave or move on when you want to or need to. I felt the sane about 15 years ago, wanted to leave Sydney and move to Melbourne but couldn't. Eventually I did, was so happy! Tho I eventually moved back to Sydney about a year after the pandemic. Wilkommen in Australien. Hope you really enjoy it here, and do lots of travel. Not just flying city to city but get out and about by road. It's a big country, with vast distances, but the open countryside is definitely worth visiting. Es ist wunderbar! Du liebe AUS.

Mattress on the floor, yup, I started like that when I rented my first own egg small studio in Sydney haha You are young and have a nice personality, don't over think and you'll be okay.

@@Begibou I was up there last winter. A week in Cairns, another in Port Douglas. I loved Port Douglas ( lifestyles of the rich and famous ). . . It gets a bit hot and sweaty in summer but this time of year its glorious. You might find work on Green or Hamilton Island. Good luck there! Have fun.

Australia can get pretty miserable during winter months but when spring\summer comes its amazing! But when it gets hot it really gets HOT! But its nice time to enjoy the best beaches in the world.
Australia miserable in winter? We have a very mild winter and it’s beautiful. There might be a few days when it can get cold and wet but for the majority of the time it’s great. If you think a winter of 17 degrees is miserable then don’t ever spend winter in the northern hemisphere.

Ahh, my mom did come to the airport with me and we had a proper goodbye even though our relationship was rocky at the start. Now she supports me more with my goals! I just didn’t film that part! ☺️

Hey take a trip first. My choice was North America or Australia ( Irish born and bred). Visited the USA and Canada. Loved Canada but couldn't grow to love the cold for 6 months of the year) same with the mid West US. Came to Aus and as they say "the rest was history" WA has the best winters but summers... whew ... so now I'm older and we have settled in Tasmania. Warm summers and cooler (but not freezing) winters. I'm glad I travelled and tried both choices and I'm so glad I choose Aus.

Yes! In Germany, the work & travel opportunity is well known amongst people in their 20s. Usually it’s young people who take a gap year and travel Australia after high school, because it’s easy to get a working holiday visa
Not dumb at all, your following your heart and dreams and will experience what so many ppl never will. But be aware that Sydney is Australia's most expensive city!
That’s so cool! I don’t think all places are that expensive, at least not as expensive as Sydney. I would try to stay open minded and not be too set on doing one specific job or staying at one city only. I worked full time and saved up as much as I could and tried to sell all my clothes and furniture. My family also helped me out a little bit :)

@@Melmelone21some advice from an Australian. Australia is a huge Island / Continent with many beautiful cities and towns near the coast. Almost all of them are considerably cheaper than Sydney to live in, so if you genuinely want to move here keep an open mind on where you might want to live. The great majority of Australians live an hour’s drive from the coast, myself included. I would never regret moving to a beautiful hamlet in the hills of western Gippsland in the state of Victoria ( an easy drive to Melbourne and the beach - one hour by train ). Good luck
@@Begibou Not that I ever walk around 3 in the morning, stuff that I'd rather be in dreamland. If you haven't tried them already, I seriously recommend a pack of rissoles from the supermarket, big meatballs with seasoning ect, some have cheese in them. Aussie's usually have 2 or 3 for dinner served with veges, and the gaytime icecream. Careful you'll get addicted to rissoles and gaytimes lol
Very good point. But from an outsider, Australia is an amazing and truly fascinating place and I’ve never seen quite a place like this before, even though I have traveled quite a bit. The animals and plants are like nowhere else and everyday I step out, I’m just overwhelmed by the beauty. Not to romanticize it, because Australia and Sydney in particular, sure is expensive. But I don’t regret the decision for a second

It's too hot here in Melbourne. It's probably worse in Sydney! I am half Scottish and half Scando. I don't think I was made for this heat 😅.

That’s so cool! I don’t think all places are that expensive, at least not as expensive as Sydney. I would try to stay open minded and not be too set on doing one specific job or staying at one city only. I worked full time and saved up as much as I could and tried to sell all my clothes and furniture. My family also helped me out a little bit :)

@@Melmelone21some advice from an Australian. Australia is a huge Island / Continent with many beautiful cities and towns near the coast. Almost all of them are considerably cheaper than Sydney to live in, so if you genuinely want to move here keep an open mind on where you might want to live. The great majority of Australians live an hour’s drive from the coast, myself included. I would never regret moving to a beautiful hamlet in the hills of western Gippsland in the state of Victoria ( an easy drive to Melbourne and the beach - one hour by train ). Good luck
I live in Sydney Eastern Suburbs which is my favorite park of Australia just a bit pricey

In Sydney, you work twice as hard and receive very little reward for it. So, good luck adjusting because this city is a cesspool.
Maybe some time in the future you might think about moving to a quieter, friendlier, less stressful part of Australia.
But I love Sydney! 🥹💕 doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to see the other cities and towns :)

@@Begibou Not that I ever walk around 3 in the morning, stuff that I'd rather be in dreamland. If you haven't tried them already, I seriously recommend a pack of rissoles from the supermarket, big meatballs with seasoning ect, some have cheese in them. Aussie's usually have 2 or 3 for dinner served with veges, and the gaytime icecream. Careful you'll get addicted to rissoles and gaytimes lol

I would say, yes, you are. One of the most expensive cities in the world. Unless you marry a well off man you and then you will be fine.
Very good point. But from an outsider, Australia is an amazing and truly fascinating place and I’ve never seen quite a place like this before, even though I have traveled quite a bit. The animals and plants are like nowhere else and everyday I step out, I’m just overwhelmed by the beauty. Not to romanticize it, because Australia and Sydney in particular, sure is expensive. But I don’t regret the decision for a second
