Tony’s logic for the teams is mind boggling. Put all the strong people on one team so he can join them, and not have to go to tribal council until merge. Except the prerequisite for them joining them would be them losing the challenge.
I'm not getting that logic either...wouldn't the smart thing to do be distribute the tribes as evenly as possible so that he can win challenges regardless of what tribe he's placed on?
This is actually incredible, Anders. Great work and congrats to the S6 players for an awesome premiere!! For the record, Anders was not a Survivor fan before All Stars. He binge watched 20+ seasons between All Stars and this season (1 semester) and is THAT great of a host, memorizing all of Probst's lines. I can't wait to watch the rest of the season!
Hi Anders, Great first episode. I want to congratulate you for finally accomplishing this, I'm sure you've been very antsy to get this published. I'd like to point out the strengths of this episode, as well as offer some constructive feedback. Strengths: The cast. Picking good players to participate is pretty much the key to having a good season, no amount of editing skills will make a shitty cast into a good season. So far it seems like almost everyone has their head in the game. Storyline/relationship building: I felt like I walked away from episode 1 knowing where at least half the cast stood primarily because of preexisting relationships, as well as new relationships formed in tribes. You as host: Your energy, personality, and enthusiasm were plain and were an enjoyable part of the episode. I'm sure you got more used to conducting tribal councils as the seasons went on. Constructive feedback: Flow of editing: I have full confidence that you will improve with this over time because it's clear you have the right instincts when it comes to this. The scene where Miranda and Thomas? (I think that's his name) had back to back and conflicting confessionals about their past relationship was definitely on the right track. I understand editing will take a while to master, but I'd like to point out a few specific things that need improvement. Scene transition: There were a few moments when there was a very jarring edit between scenes that almost produced a sense of whiplash. I believe I remember these scenes most when it abruptly switched from a scene where 2 people were talking together to a confessional. One way to remedy this would be to leave the camera on the players talking for a moment, mute them, and add audio of the next confessional on top of those images before switching to the image of the person speaking in confessional. Coordinating music with action: I can't offer much advice to this besides the fact that the music you use should be more than just background noise and should be there to enhance the on screen footage. This is an art that will greatly improve your editing if you find a knack for it. Can't wait to see what happens this season, and how the seasons progress over time. Especially interested in the Miranda/Thomas? dynamic.
Definitely a great start to a new era. This cast is very enjoyable to watch and Anders has handled taking over hosting perfectly. Can't wait to see where it goes from here!
I loved the premiere way more then I thought I was. I’m excited to find my new Sabrina in this second gen. I wasn’t shocked that Tony was voted “out” but his reasoning for the tribes was hilarious. Yeah I put them together because I think they are strongest so I hope I join them. Lol the logic
I am pretty sad with the vote off. _____ didn’t display the best social skills but I felt like she could have had some amazing character development :(
This is so cool 😂😂 I live in Maryland and I’m only 15 but I’ve always wanted to go out of state when I go to college but I never knew umd had a survivor club 😂😂 I love survivor even thought I just recently started watching it but I’ve binged watched like 8 seasons within like 3 months so I’m hardcore lovin’ it 😂😂 but this is sooo cool I don’t even live far from umd agh this is greattt
Loved this premiere!! So excited for a new season. I'm rooting for Taylor right now and I hope she can overcome seemingly being on the outs. Also Dylan and Faith.
So excited to have new Survivor Maryland back again. I have loved what Austin has been able to build and do with these past 5 seasons and I can't wait to see how Anders moves forward with this endeavor, best of luck! Starting with an odd number of players is always going to be intriguing but I feel like the 1st person going to Exile is a common thing that maybe some people should have saw coming but I do like that it started in a sense the same way Gen 1 of Survivor Maryland did with 1 person going to Exile. However, I do think giving that player the power to pick the tribes is very intriguing. It could be risky if as we saw they try to make the tribes lopsided knowing they are coming into the game which production wise could be scary since we wouldn't necessarily want a Pagong-ing. I will say while Tony's decision I think was based in the wrong reasoning I think it could lead to the right conclusion. Stacking one tribe with all the strong players and hoping they lose so he could join them just doesn't seem entirely logical to me but I think the idea of stacking one tribe with strong players could work in the sense if he stacks it so the tribe with as he thought were weaker players loses and he knows he will join them, he could use that to his advantage since he appears to be a strong physical player and he would be a necessity once he joins that tribe to give them a shot in the challenges. I think we even saw this method of thinking with Matt in that he didn't really build the social relationships but he will likely skate by simply because he is physically the most dominant person on their tribe. Tony could use that same methodology to progress but I just feel like his clashing personality, whether it be put on or exaggerated for the camera, could just lead his tribe to see him as an easy free vote despite his physical ability and vote him out. Steal the Bacon is always a great challenge and it was another fun one to watch with some pretty good battles. But, with Baesqwaad winning it makes sense we didn't see much of them this week. I do feel though the player I probably have very high hopes for is the one I share a name with, Alex. I think just based on the fact we saw 2 different people in Abel and Dylan really wanting to work with her and how she was presented as this extroverted person makes me feel she will do really well socially and can be set up for a deep run in the game. The contrasting relationship of Miranda and Thomas and how differently they feel about it I think could come into play later on down the line but it's hard to tell if that was mostly to foreshadow something such as Miranda trusting Thomas when she shouldn't or it was just an interesting connection that was shown early on. As for the boot, I personally wasn't too happy with Meredith going just because I felt like I could really relate to her in the sense in groups I probably also would be more reserved especially when meeting new people. It really sucked also to hear in her Final Words how this was something she was really looking forward to doing for awhile. So while the boot makes sense to me in that she was just an easy person to go for and the first vote tends to be for most people as long as it isn't them, it still sucks to someone who did want to play go out. Overall I would say people I am looking at as potentially being around for a good run are: --Alex (my winner pick as of now just for people wanting to come work with her) --Michael (just seems like a fun guy but could be in trouble early on but with the connections to the other tribe could use to his advantage) --Dylan (an active player who I could see really riding on his tribe winning and unifying them, also relate to him not liking to be late to things) --Miranda (I appreciate the Big Brother fan and seeing her try to focus on relationships) --Susan (She seems well connected on her tribe and could see her going far) I am enjoying other people like Shaina and Emily but I just feel like their positioning is not ideal and they could be early boots. As for confessionals I do find it interesting that I believe the only one to not get anything is Nachmi unless I missed it but I want to see if that is purposeful editing or if he just isn't as charismatic on camera/wasn't as available. Overall, another great start to Survivor Maryland and can't wait to see what the rest has in store for us!
man Tony is by far one of the oddest people we've seen on Survivor Maryland, not in a bad way though. im 17 minutes into the premier and he's already mind boggling as a player, i kinda hope he sticks around since it's a refreshing casting choice So far though i really like Dylan, Daniela, and Meredith, hope they do well! EDIT: ok came back to this after finishing the episode... RIP Meredith!!! totally get why she went home though, it seems like she just didnt connect with anyone and even though Swale was in the same position i think he proved himself more in the challenge + he has a strong connection to King. definitely was a pretty straightforward tribal but im really impressed with Abel and Susan, they seem like they're really smart and positioned themselves pretty well, i just hope neither of them go on a power trip because they have the potential to go really far if they dont. overall this was a really solid premier that already has me dying for a new episode, nice work anders :)
Such a great start to the season it's very reminiscent of classic Maryland and steal the bacon is always a top challenge to watch. I think the players to watch out for will be Faith, Alex, Abel and Dylan. I'm sad Meredith got out she had potential.
Faith, Taylor, Swale & Daniella killed it. I felt so bad for Meredith this whole episode. I can't believe Don didn't even touch the bacon in one of the rounds.
Faith and Alex are my girls. Really like Swale too (pretending not to know Susan's name..sneaky, sneaky). Lots of big personalities that are gonna be fun to watch. I wish Tony had chosen more even tribes though as I feel like blue tribe is gonna be seeing tribal a lot.
Favorites: 1. Susan 2. Thomas 3. Faith 4. Michael 5. Taylor 6. Swale 7. Tony 8. Alex 9. Abel 10. Daniella 11. Shaina 12. Kevel 13. Nachmi 14. Matt 15. Dylan 16. Don 17. Meredith 18. Miranda 19. Emily
Alright, I finished up Survivor Maryland Gen 1 (First 5 Seasons), time to experience the next two! Honestly, i'm super sad that we're so close to finishing up!
I think my picks so far are Susan Swale Dylan and Alex. My #1 is probably Swale he’s just so pure lol. It’s killing me to see Evan in the background but not get to listen to one of his confessionals or comments ugh
Note* I've already watched the season. Prediction: 18. Swale 17. Tony 16. Matt 15. Nachmi 14. Don 13. Miranda 12. Thomas 11. Emily 10. Shaina 9. Keval 8. Abel 7. Alex 6. Michael 5. Dylan 4. Faith 3. Taylor 2. Susan 1. Daniella
finally! i just wish (insert bootee name cause no spoiler) plays a little harder or someone wants to save her the way angelina saved natalie and tell the tribe to vote jeremy instead (on DvG). for the tribe, i actually like a lot of people on the baesqwaad but at the same time i kinda rooting for ferocity as well since they're perceived as the weaker tribe. as for the players, i'm still unsure on who to root for but i guess for now it's dylan, alex, shaina, swale, abel, and taylor
is anyone gonna point out the fact that Miranda has Frosted Flakes in her closet? Edit: oh no wait everyone is filming in that closet.... Who's closet is that?!
Are Thomas and Dylan brothers? They do have striking resemblance. And they’re cute too. Definitely the eye candies of the season. I have my eyes on you boys❤️❤️❤️
Writing this before watching episode 2*** Tony is amazing. He reminds me of Tony from Cagayan I LOVE the pink tribe and kinda hate the blue one. I do not see the reason of the first person to go. I hope the read team and Tony pick off the other tribe. I will not mind a pagonging. The worst is Matt, he is much worse than Eric lol. Fingers crossed for the red tribe.
I am pretty disappointed :( I really hope that group of 5 splits up otherwise this will just be survivor borneo all over again, and that was seriously boring
Miranda: “I feel like I can definitely count on my childhood friend Thomas”
Thomas: “yeah that Miranda chick gotta go”
“You have to vote someone out!”
Everyone: ...
“And you have to reveal your vote!”
Everyone: GASP
Tony’s logic for the teams is mind boggling.
Put all the strong people on one team so he can join them, and not have to go to tribal council until merge.
Except the prerequisite for them joining them would be them losing the challenge.
I couldn't even wrap my head around it, especially since the first challenge traditionally is Steal the Bacon
berry baby lmao
I'm not getting that logic either...wouldn't the smart thing to do be distribute the tribes as evenly as possible so that he can win challenges regardless of what tribe he's placed on?
11:30 Micah Evan AND Holly working on the crew? This is sick
Lecompte, shubble and Katie too!!
Go Queen Holli!

Legend Katie cameo at 22:04
thank you for pointing that out i cant believe i missed that!

Fully agree, it hooked me right in
I'm loving all the generation 1 players in the background filming and whatnot
I CANNOT BREATHE! So excited for generation 2!
my boy Swale getting that social game
This is still the best fan made survivor series on youtube!

Good job Anders! My favorite part has to be all of the Survivor Maryland icons filming in the background 💜
The intro is really strong, good job! 👏 The second shot of Shaina is gorgeous 😍
Referee icons Chris Lecompte and Jordan Schuble.
I stan the sleeping giant Matt King
He literally towers over his whole tribe
I am pretty sad with the vote off. _____ didn’t display the best social skills but I felt like she could have had some amazing character development :(
Daniela looks like Hannah Shapiro and Abel looks like Laurel.
Tony is my new favorite trainwreck
I can't believe you got Laurel from Ghost Island to be on this season
katie I thought I was the only one who noticed that lmao
Wait what?
katie wdym
Where? I didn't see her
This is so cool 😂😂 I live in Maryland and I’m only 15 but I’ve always wanted to go out of state when I go to college but I never knew umd had a survivor club 😂😂 I love survivor even thought I just recently started watching it but I’ve binged watched like 8 seasons within like 3 months so I’m hardcore lovin’ it 😂😂 but this is sooo cool I don’t even live far from umd agh this is greattt

This was such a great way to begin Survivor: Maryland Gen 2. I loved this cast of players!
I'M SOOOOOO STOKED IT'S BACK. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Finally a true alpha king Tony! Bow down and worship the ground he walks upon
Great first episode Anders! I can't wait for more! :)
Damn the Zelda fanboy taking out the Personal trainer in a tug of war my mans got the triforce of swole

Also the person voted off is probably the cutest person in the season and I'm so sad!
Great episode! I'm excited for this season
I wonder how often someone can be fast enough in Steal the Bacon to just grab the bacon and run it back without ever having to fight over it
Apparently Matt was, because Don didn't even try in their second face-off
so exected for more Survivor Maryland!!!!!!!!!
Dead at "Miridith." That has to be up there as one of the worst misspellings in any Survivor game, real and fan-made alike
Amazing
Tony should have put everyone that voted for him on one tribe
Welcome gen 2 and Anders :)
shaina queeeen omg
27:51 is this Queen Victoria and Schuble

Ooo this isn’t too far from where I live

Faith and Alex are my girls. Really like Swale too (pretending not to know Susan's name..sneaky, sneaky). Lots of big personalities that are gonna be fun to watch. I wish Tony had chosen more even tribes though as I feel like blue tribe is gonna be seeing tribal a lot.

#1 Picks are Dylan and Alex or Matt
Wow, so because ima greys anatomy fan I wanted Meredith to win, whoops lol but anyways great first episode I loveeeeee the intro theme
finally! i just wish (insert bootee name cause no spoiler) plays a little harder or someone wants to save her the way angelina saved natalie and tell the tribe to vote jeremy instead (on DvG). for the tribe, i actually like a lot of people on the baesqwaad but at the same time i kinda rooting for ferocity as well since they're perceived as the weaker tribe. as for the players, i'm still unsure on who to root for but i guess for now it's dylan, alex, shaina, swale, abel, and taylor

He needs to mute some of the confessional votes at tribal. I knew it was Meredith when people said “sorry couldn’t flip the votes”.
Writing this before watching episode 2***
Tony is amazing. He reminds me of Tony from Cagayan
I LOVE the pink tribe and kinda hate the blue one. I do not see the reason of the first person to go. I hope the read team and Tony pick off the other tribe. I will not mind a pagonging. The worst is Matt, he is much worse than Eric lol. Fingers crossed for the red tribe.
merideth robbed noo
robbed :(
Robbery and for what....
First?
More like first boot....
I am pretty disappointed :( I really hope that group of 5 splits up otherwise this will just be survivor borneo all over again, and that was seriously boring
First boot was so robbed :( I’m hoping men don’t run the season like most of the seasons so far ugh
Too bad there's no hot guys to look at.
I disagree on that, because Thomas and Dylan are pretty attractive
