  • Michael Jackson's book Moonwalk is his one and only autobiography and he provided a lot of details and insight into his life as an artist and as a person. There are many books about Michael Jackson but this book is one of TRUTH and what Michael wanted us to know as fans and as the general public.

    I wish he published a book in later years like maybe the Invincible / Mature Era so we would get more insight on many events that happened later on in his VERY eventful life, I would’ve loved to hear his perspective on things like that!

      @jacluv7862 4 роки тому +13

      I totally agree, but he did do that thru his music. Maybe it was easier for him to sing about his pain & frustration thru music than writing it in a book.

    You're right about his face looking different based on camera angles, etc. His face could look very different depending on lighting and facial expression as well. The press loved cherry-picking photos of him that made him look very different and they'd edit it as well to make him look more white to perpetuate the myth that he bleached his skin.
    I personally think one lesser known thing about MJ is related to his Pepsi accident. He had hair/balding problems later in his life due to lupus, but after the Pepsi accident his hair most probably did grow back even if not fully. After his passing, his personal hairstylist from '81-'94, Lottie Rose, was interviewed by Ebony and she directly said that she was summoned by his doc to help him evaluate the damage done to his hair and that he wore a hairpiece briefly until it "healed enough for him to be comfortable with his real hair". MJ even mentions in Moonwalk that he was "real lucky" with the accident. And his hairstylist actually says that she continued using chemicals to give him different hairstyles for the upcoming years. Chemicals wouldn't be allowed if his scalp was sooo damaged that he was wearing a hairpiece for the rest of his life. His hair was in different hairstyles so many times..

      so what are u trying to say, that he was actually still bald and he covered it up?? Not coming off as rude I just wanna understand more 😣

      @@1luvt4ken81 No, he had his real hair for a long time. Till the mid 90s he constantly used chemicals to keep styling it. However, that would soon cause his hair to become very unhealthy bc he didn't give it any break. From mid 90s, he began wearing full wigs to cover up the real hair (giving it a break) and also bc lupus in his late 30s and 40s at this time was causing hair loss for him as he grew older. By the time of death, he had very little hair left and was wearing wigs all the time.

    Moonwalk was the first piece of MJ merch that I had ever gotten as a newish MJ fan, I've been a fan for almost 2 years now. Moonwalk really gives you deep insight on Michael Jackson the person, not Michael Jackson the personality. Something that I think was overlooked in Moonwalk was the stories about his childhood, I think it was very revealing on how it was like for him becoming and being a child star. I really also didn't think he had that much plastic surgery, and he goes over that topic very well in the book, I think he goes over all the things he talks about in the book very well

    Now that I think about it, perhaps Michael should’ve released a anthology series of biography books each year he released an album or something like that, because there’s so much that went on in his life that wasn’t captured after 1988. Topics he would have been able to address personally. Especially during the Dangerous era and History era.

    I love the comment you made about his appearance, and acknowledging that he looked pretty much like Mike throughout his life; when you consider that he grew up before our eyes, that he had vitialigo & becauseof that he felt the need to use makeup to compensate for his features being diminished & , that being said - in this age of contouring videos on youtube we watch people transform before our eyes using makeup (contouring is amazing); I've been convinced for some time that media claims of his plastic surgery were grossly exaggerated. Thanks for bringing that out. As always - you knocked it out of the park!!!

(Ok, here's a little confession: I don't really read a lot of autobiography books. LOL!!) Even though I wasn't a fan just yet when I borrowed it, I still thought it was interesting to see what Michael had to say and wow......my mind was blown. And now during these last 11 years of me being an MJ fan, a friend of mine gifted this book to me as an early Christmas present last year and I'm SO happy to finally have it in my collection!!! Haven't read it in years and it's always fun to dive back into it and pick up things you might've missed when you read it the first time. Anyway, such a great book and thank you, MJfangirl!!! I have read the book before. Some moments that throws me off are :
    1. In The Wiz rehearsal, he talked about how his fellow casts were mad at him because he was the only one who get the choreography so fast while the others have to repeat the choreo thousand times. And the fact that Diana Ross had to pulled him aside and told him to "turn it down a lil bit" lol
    2. The fact that he HATED the whole comedy skits that he and his siblings had to do back then, and there's me enjoying every second of those skits 🙃,
    3. Him crying at the end of "She's out of my life", because he felt really lonely/he never got the chance to actually dating and stuff. That really touched home, man.
    Anyway, i love these reviews. Please do more videos like this, and that fan debate one, i love it !

    He stopped with his nose after Thriller, and wore contour around his nose to make it look thinner. It's a trick that women do all the time with makeup. If you look at his pictures during the 2005 trial, he's not really wearing the contour in those photos, and his nose looks exactly the same as it did around Thriller.

I find that I love reading how Michael tells the story of his life. For example the first sentences of his are all about his adoration of good story telling and his efforts to get there.

    I L.O.V.E this video MJFANGIRL❤️❤️❤️MOONWALK, was one of the first books by Michael Jackson that I got, and I L.O.V.E it dearly, there’s a lot of detail in the book, from him being young, to his adult years, and the book definitely grabs your attention, while your reading it, it’s so good, and i know I’m late watching this, I hope your doing great MJFANGIRL✨❤️😇

    GREAT DETAILS! THANK YOU~ Altho MJ didn't share much on his youth, Jermaine's book "You Are Not Alone" has lots of stories of Mike. Like-MJ had 24/7 Christmas lights at his
    Neverland since as a young J-Witness, both boys used to admire the neighbors lights and lots more stories. Book "Moonwalk" is excellent! Rest in Peace, MJ~~~

    I need to read Moonwalk again, it's such a good book with great pictures. I agree with you, I don't think MJ changed much over the years. His different hairstyles, camera angles etc made a little difference not a lot. What I noticed when he wrote about the Pepsi accident, he never played the victim, or wrote about it in great detail, if I remember rightly. And yet the poor man must've been in agony for years afterwards 😣😣. On another note, I love all of your MJ tee shirts MJFANGIRL 😊😊.

    I personally believe Michael Jackson's look after the bad era was heightened due to vitaligo (he most likely bleached to even out the skin tone, which I don't hold it against him), hair (wigs that he started wearing mid 90s) and the unfavorable makeup (Karen lost her touch).
    I believe Michael had four plastic surgeries by 1988. Three nose jobs; first one in 1978 (after a fall when he was doing a dance rehearsal), early 1980s (just before thriller) and 1984/1985 ( I saw a video of him dancing, he had bandages on his head due to scalp surgery from that burn as well as bandages on his nose). Plus he added a dimple in his chin (which was not there before, and cannot magically appear in his late twenties).
    After those surgeries, I don't believe he had that many. If he had more nose jobs most likely reconstructive surgery because of his lupus.

    I actually really appreciated the bts of the creative process which is why I gravitated towards MJ in the first place, the music. Don’t get me wrong I also love the tea however I think that MJ is allowed something that is only for himself just like everyone else. So I’m not mad about it and just thankful for whatever he did get to share with us. Only thing I ever wished he would’ve been more transparent about was his skin disease. I think he just felt really insecure about so I get it.

    2024, İ just red this book in one go.. I mean once I started, I couldn't put it down.. I just couldn't.... All I was, was eager to learn what's next.. What's he going to do next.. N before I know it.. It was over n I felt like this was made in 1987/88... I feel like when he was alive, he could've decided am going to write a second part of my autobiography n we the people would've bought it, because I feel like he was larger than life and he was the only superstar who could've done a 2 parts autobiography n people would've read them all. 🤷🏾‍♀️....
    Overall opinion... It's one amazing book! 🎉

    Also during the wiz, is when he broke up with O’Neal after she refused to appear on the premiere of the movie. This led to backlash from Michael because this was a project he was very passionate about.

    • @daryltracy7949
      @daryltracy7949 4 роки тому

      @NitroUnity.. I don't believe they broke up then. The premiere was in 1978. There are photographs of her and Michael at a party a year after during the OTW era and they don't look like "just friends". I personally believe Michael's account from Moonwalk of Tatum and him deciding to "cool off" and be friends contrary to her version of Michael never forgiving her after she turned him down as his date for the Wiz premiere. I mean there are even pics from 1984 and even backstage during the Triumph tour of them together so...
