Learning that MJ was heavily medicated before doing these concerts in 2001 is mind blowing because his performance is flawless. Billy Jean was amazing!

Sadaf Fatima : Exactly. I saw him once in concert as a member of the Jackson5. ❤️ Soooo super-talented, but his brothers were off the hook too.❤️ I believe if you were lucky enough SEE them live, then you know how many Artists today just can't perform live without auto-tune, lip-synching & lots of fillers .. The Jacksons & specifically #MichaelJackson was all about talent, craftsmanship, dedication & discipline. #MJ was number 1 b/c he put in the hours, days, decades to be number 1. #MJ did work very, very hard, but he LOVED performing. It was the only place (besides his Neverland Ranch) that he felt was his completely. Makes me want to help restore Neverland Ranch. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the brain-power & energy of #MJFans #MJFam #Moonwalkers & Supporters ❤️ Keep keepin' on y'all. Support each other. #TheKingMJ4Ever 💜❤️☮

It’s just crazy to think this year marks 50 years since J5’s first album....it’s just crazy man, to think his professional career is now as old as he was in life now.......the week of his death, days before that tragic day, my niece and I was watching MJ videos and I was telling her people will be talking about this man 200 years from now...the fact thatI lived during this great period is just everything. I wish I could go back.....only thing that makes now worth it all is meeting other true fans of Mike.💯❤️

Race relations in the 1980s were totally transformed due to this genious of a man. You can thank him for that! I will never forget the night Thriller came on tv. EVERYBODY was transformed. He truly had magic, and is forever in my heart. And I am a heavy metal fan! Lol But MJ will never be replaced.

8:16 I remember that day! My family decided to go to my father's older sister's house...just because and while we were there my father's *other* sister came with her daughter. So we just happened to be in the den having a good time, talking noise and watching Motown 25...with commentary thrown in every now & then.
SO we were watching the Jacksons do their thing, then Michael stood alone on the stage....my family didn't know what was happening, but I did from the way MJ was dressed that he was going to do Billie Jean....and YES he was the most exciting thing to watch *simply* because no other black performer from Motown was doing what he was doing!
....and THAT performance is what catapulted Thriller's sales into the stratosphere, because not only was he known in the MTV world with his videos but people who remember Michael as a boy was amazed at what he was doing & it also helped he won those Grammy's that year too. :-]

I feel like by the time the late 90s rolled around, Mike was sorta going through the motions a lot more. Not to say we wasn’t still a beast; he could still outperform 90% of his peers and those who followed him. Throughout the late 70s and early 80s, he was more of a “groover” than a choreographed dancer. There was a freedom, a carefree quality to his performances. To me, he found the perfect sweet spot between effortless boogie and precision-based movement during the Bad Tour. All in all, a KANG and a master throughout time, even as a fetus.

Love the evolution of Michael's performances. I think he really start to become more free once he start doing his own shows from the Bad tour until his death. But also he learned how to give the fans what they want by not only dancing but showing emotions on songs like the MTV 10th anniversary performance of Will You Be There. That shows how much he's one of the greatest artist of all time. Other than that, love, love, love it. And I'm hoping that Motown would do the Going Back To Indiana special on DVD or Blu-Ray in the 2020s. That would be my most have and also if Sony would do it,The Jacksons variety show from 1976-1977, The Destiny tour, the Triumph tour and the Victory tour.

Phenomenal reaction throughout his career. 👍🙏 Thank you. When MJ threw himself on the floor on stage or crawled along, it was part of the performance, he expressed what he was singing about. MJ didn't just sing the song, he became the song. He was unique, passionate and inimitable in what he did. That's why he was so magical. It is pure love that shows in all his movements, singing and attitude towards the world.
    Love from Slovenia.

This was sooooo awesome to see (I watched this 4 times in a row. ). Thank you Randall for the shout out. Also I LOVE how much additional information that you and Randy have on MJ. It really makes the reaction post worth seeing. Thumbs us to Motown making the old Jackson 5 footage available in HD or better quality. I also agree to truly understand elevation of MJ is to study the Jackson 5 music and the Jacksons music. I loved the MJ Super Bowl and think I watched it once or twice. It would have been great to see MJ and Janet on the stage. I love seeing this post and had no idea this was out. I hope you and Randy do another reaction, super fun to watch.

That 76 to 80 period bro talking about the bop in the step i love that period too!!! That's the groove period. Mike always was a feel dancer but especially during that time frame it was all feel n grooving to the music. Later on things became more choreography based eith him breaking out of ot in pockets to do his own thing but 75 to 80 he was unleashed

With the Sammy Davis performance, Michael was apparently in a lot of pain at that time because he was still going through procedures for his burns, and he almost didn't perform because of the pain he was in. Then someone said the 'this is the last opportunity you'll get' card on him, and he ended up pushing through and performing. Hence why he almost has a pained look on his face during that song. As for the HIStory tour, I have to agree it's not my go to. My reasoning is that he seemed to have lost his energy and drive for it by that point. He often looked as though he was doing it out of obligation rather than because he was getting lost in it. If you watch a video from the Bad tour and then one from HIStory you can see that major energy shift I'm talking about.

I was born in 1996 but my mom was in her 20s during the thriller era so she told me a lot about it
I remember seeing the Thriller music video on TV when I was like 7
I liked his songs since then and that might've been around 2004. when he passed I was almost 13 and I cried when the news told the world he was gone. I was upset. nowadays I'm more of a fan than I was, but I do have nostalgia from moments where my mom would tell me about how cool it was to follow him during that era. also.. I'm from Brazil and when I was like 16 I went to Pelourinho (where they don't care about us was filmed) and I felt a special vibe being there

8:47....In the interview with oprah. Mj said he hated the Motown 25 performance because he didnt still the feet at the point for as long as he wanted. So anytime after that. He would do the toes into the verse. Because he is a perfectionist.

I enjoy watching Michael from when he started audition for motown and you can see he was giving a gift from God that he was magical. God only made one Michael Jackson and their will never be another one like him. I enjoy watching Michael performing evolution. Thanks mj fangirl. I'm 62years old and I have his 45's when they were the Jackson 5's and knew he was a hit and remember his sister Janet first coming on and acting like she was the star of the show 😂 and it turned out she was a star. He sang to us that's why we related.

In 1989,when he was down I think he was tired that was the last bad tour concert which was 123.I respect his evolution in music in his life always wanting to be better and I really don't mind that in history tour didn't sang live to much,he didn't felt good ,he was human, too.He was wonderful till the end.

10:42 I think I still have that on VHS tape, I need to get it on DVD before the tape goes bad.
11:22 When it first started, the audience wasn't really into it...the majority wanted football BUT when he did Heal the World [with audience participation] and everyone in the stands flipped their programs over, in *wave formation* , it was THE coolest thing to see because no one expected those programs to form into children's drawing. Folks were really into the performance then!
14:13 You were there?!?! Did you leave in time before the tragedy struck in NY?
15:35 What everyone would have LOVED about this tour is that he was going to mix interactive 3D videos with *live* performances, I would have LOVED to have seen him do Ghosts[?]...or was it Threatened..LIVE! :-)

Yes I am a native New Yorker and I was at the show the night before, my show was on 9/10/2001. I didn’t leave the city though - I went back home cause I had school then next morning! I have a video about it that I made last year telling the story, it’s in the STORYTIME playlist here on my channel
