I came for your Beosound Explore review, but when your talked about your first B&O product you instantly reminded me when I was 17 before starting to study architecture. A friend of my grandpa used to import premium products and he told me about B&O. After visiting the local store in Buenos Aires (when there was one) I couldn't believe the build quality and the design behind their products. I got so crazy about it that I sent an e-mail to Denmark to see if there was any kind of "merchandising" available and a month later I received a package with a black sort of folder with the opener inside... and a jazz CD by Oscar Peterson and NHØP. It was certainly a happy moment and for sure B&O one of the brands that inspired me to study something design-related. Thanks for bringing back that memory and your review.
Federico, that is a great story! It really shows how something so small as sending a young person a little bottle opener can create a positive association with the brand for life!
Exquisite overview. I have a drawer full of those bottle openers, which used to come with every B&O product back in the day. I could never afford their higher-end products, but I frequently purchased their smaller offerings, like headphones and Bluetooth headsets. It was always an aspirational brand for me. I’m really quite surprised how beautiful that mist gray color is. I opted for the green version, as I thought it was different enough to be more interesting. But now I’m second-guessing my choice. Amazon is selling the carbon black and mist grey colorways for 18% less. All in all, you will find the finish to be exceedingly scratch-resistant. B&O adopted a process of acid-dipping the aluminum alloy, which ostensibly doubles the hardening factor of the anodization. Now, the sound quality seems to pale in comparison to your Polk bangers, to be sure. But you can tweak the sound profile with the B&O app, and improve it considerably. While I wish that the sound was a little bit better, the marked sex appeal of the device more than compensates for it.
Bought one yesterday what a beautiful speaker and the sound is truly amazing surprised me was well worth the money also a great video 😊
You can make significant improvements from out of the box if you use the B&O app. I love mine outside on the patio. Beautiful sound quality without annoying the neighbours. Also, I have found it is so much nicer listening to jazz and classical music over rock. So many people judge B&O negativly based on its doof doof music performance, which is not really what B&Os about.

Another great video! Can you share how the speaker is constructed with all the aluminum rings? How would they be made and then affixed to the internal structure? Thank you!
Thanks Tom. I spoke with the former Chief Design Officer of B&O over Twitter. He informed me that the shell is a cylindrical extrusion that is then post machined to get the gaps… the solid parts remaining being the rings. There is a part line for the UI on the top and for the foot on the bottom. I would assume the internals are adhered to the foot, the grille slid over top, and then the UI cover affixed to the very top.

are you able to compare this to the beatspill+ for me please? im looking to replace mine just as a bedroom speaker but i cant figure out if its better or not😭
Sorry, I don't have a beats pill to compare it to, but I believe the Pill only has 4 midrange drivers vs this has a slightly larger woofer and two tweeters so I would assume this would have a bit more accurate sound reproduction and reproduce a larger range of sounds from high to low just based on the driver package.
