Here's an advice from someone who has been through this : warm the itching area through any way EXCEPT ARTIFICIAL HEAT, do not depend mainly on hot water, try wearing socks and putting your feet under the blanket until it warms, it may itch at the beginning, but trust me, after warming it, it will relive the itching, hopefully it helps and feel free to ask about anything.

In my case, It generally starts to itch at night and whenever my fingers becomes warm it starts to itch badly so whenever i go to sleep i take out my feet outside of the blanket but its really hard to put your feet outside in the winter overnight so after 5 minutes of my feet staying inside blanket it starts to itch

My first chilblains on my fingers started last winter after i got to a normal weight earlier the same year (2023) and went outside more, i assume this happened because i now have less fat protecting my fingers and knowing i also have poor blood circulation in my hands and feet in general, its just pure hell to warm them up without using any aid to prevent even more from appearing, even at night in bed my hands are ice cold and just using the heat from my thighs seems to create more of them
My first ever chilblain also was one on my index finger knuckle, which for some reason first was like a small pink bump, but then became bigger and bigger until my whole finger was swollen and i couldn't even bend it anymore, i was worried it would explode and the doctor just said its probably a small bruise, but after that first chilblain, i kept getting normal chilblains and they only seized once the weather got above 15 C again, before that I've never had anything like it before, but you gotta take note im half Brazilian from my mother's side, and despite having been flown to the Netherlands when i was just a baby, its very much possible my dna is just simply designed to survive in warmer climates, because even in summer whilst sporting, whichever arm or limb i dont use (like with badminton) remains ice cold, even club members always are surprised when touching me and they are boiling hot 🤣🥲

I started getting issues after I got a cold (possibly Covid) in 2022. If the temperature goes below 14C randomly my fingers swell or patches of skin on my fingers come up like you have had an insect bite. The swelling lasts for 1-2 weeks, if it's just a small area 1 week.
I can be in the cold for literally 3 minutes and boom a patch of skin on random fingers swells up. If I don't wear two pairs of socks when I got outside in temperatures below ~10C my toes and the back of my heel swells up (probably because they get the coldest from touching the edge of the shoes), that is seriously painful makes it so you can't walk properly or at all. I just end up having to power through the pain, after 5 minutes of walking you get used to it and it starts not to hurt anymore. Probably not recommended though because It also starts to bruise.
On top of that I also have something that makes the tips of some of my finger go numb, my fingers go visibly whiter like it has restricted blood flow, but only in a couple of fingers and it's on both hands at the same time, makes zero sense, no other area just the fingers. It's utterly random when it happens as well, not dependent on temperature.
I'm pretty sure it's one of these conditions caused by a virus, I have no other explanation. I don't fall into the categories of being more susceptible. It really sucks because I don't even feel cold when I get it, when you start to feel a lump under the skin you know you are gonna be in a world of pain for at least a week.

Mine started after I got covid in 2022 as well. I've found a shot of ginger with lemon juice, turmeric, cinnamon, sprinkle of clove and cayenne pepper twice a day has helped reduce the inflammation when a spot appears, it doesn't get quite as bad. The other condition you're experiencing is Reynaud's syndrome, where blood circulation in the fingers is constricted and the finger goes white and numb.

Not sure if you have a diagnosis about the white fingers yet , but I would recommend looking up reynauds phenomenon

hey thank you for writing this down. I ve got a similar experience with the swelling on the feet (heels, toes, and the sides) that I would just power through the pain for walking but then I got bruises for the entire winter time :( Doctor prescribed me nifedipine and it helped during the episode but months were gone and now triggered again just because of the cold/hot water alternate as I'm doing tap water/boiler testing in my house, and it's summer, so it's unrelated to the outside weather. It's the water. Don't know what to do to relieve the symptoms normally, but at least now I'm not panicking and now protecting my fingers even more.

Advice from someone who has been suffering from four years, try staying away from heat and when i say heat, i mean any artificial source of direct heat. Including: stoves, heaters, radiators. Try warming the affected area gently with steam. And my intention is not to distraught you but trustme it gets worse.

We use rubbing alcohol on cotton pads every am and every night. The less time I wear socks the better to let feet breathe. If really bad we soak feet in cheap vodka for 5 to 10 mins no longer.

    • @joaboby2
      @joaboby2 6 місяців тому +1

It’s because of sedentary lifestyle. People did little to no outdoor activities. Causing less flow of blood. Consequently, increasing the viscosity of blood and leading to pernio.

My problems have lasted for almost 2months now. I'm not a smoker but as im swedish i use Snus, which i suspect is just as bad in this case. My fingers often get pail and my finger nails blue, however, its my toes that have chilblains.
In my case i should probably quit the Snus 😢

    • @joaboby2

It’s not a surprise. In fact I think it should be more common for people living far in the north. I live in a tropical region where the temperature gets as high as 50°C in the summer and as low as 0°C in the winter with endless foggy days which last for 1-2 months and no sunlight. I guess you can relate considering at the poles you barely see sun in the winters. Word of advice: I think it’s not mostly because of climate/weather, I think it depends upon your diet. Ever considered quitting coffee/ tea? Or anything that contains caffeine or anything that can increase the viscosity of your blood? It can include from calcium to sodium ions, which are directly or indirectly involved in our diet. I think it’s more influenced by our diet rather than lifestyle.

never expose your skin to a heat source, especially if youve got cold feet after going outside. Buy some thick nordic socks. I also think the recent 2 winters i did NOT get them must have been due to me sea swimming up til November and benefitting my vascular health this way - i think im gonna do the sea swimming again later this year to see if i dont get them next winter

@@Worthlesslife357 this is exactly what I’m talking about. People think just because we live in tropical regions, we don’t feel cold or somehow we are immune to it. Like BOY- we are more prone and sensitive to it. So we developing such conditions are completely justifiable. Speaking of which Luckily the foggy days subdued and the sun finally came out last week.
